  1. This is part of why this is so solid and marks a memorable era in my childhood, alpha 2, X-men COTA, and Darkstalkers 2 on the Saturn really made an impact on my household. The music, the extra detail that Capcom put into things just made things magical and emotional on another level. I really did love the staff rolls in this. Akuma's was really great cause of that theme.
  2. Good question, gonna think about that, but I really did like seeing Ed's for the relationship between him and Rog's, also Rose's was great and exciting.
  3. Oh wow, I can definitely say I've never seen these before, thanks for sharing, dude!
  4. Ooh, nice info in the latest posts guys, nice job! Question, a while back I was curious of the Japanese 3rd Strike Quotes to Q (https://forums.shoryuken.com/t/the-inevitable-street-fighter-v-story-thread-arcade-edition/177027/24470?u=shockdingo) I was wondering if he says anything of note to Ibuki, Alex, or Chun Li. Thanks in advance!
  5. Ah, I didn't Read carefully, I didn't realize money was being exchanged, I thought it was just a website project.
  6. Dang, that's a massive shame, coming together to make something like that work would have been a dream. 😞
  7. Oooh, that's a WHOLE other issue that's a problem. Generally you don't need to look an particular way to play a character, hence the old phrase "You have a face for radio." But sneakily, lately, some powers that be want to cast people who "look" like characters for some free marketing (usually the female ones, but not the dudes) It's not really an "official" requirement, but some folks are quietly pushing that. Also there's cases where the marketing monster rears it's ugly head and they'll want VOs with huge twitter followings before even signing the ink on paper. Lots of folks are generally cool, but lately as things evolve, there's some junk popping up that's not so great.
  8. Just saw this, been away from the boards for a bit so I missed the tag. It's.....a very complicated issue. From what I believe, Erin wasn't forced out, but she willingly stepped down. I don't know her personally, but some friends do and have worked with her. She's passionate about us black and minority VAs getting a fair shake and has been vocal on twitter about this since before last year. The issue is as I said complicated. I wont get into the nitty gritty, but in general voice work for black people, east asian, Arabic, Latino, and other minorities is a mixed bag to say the least. Anime is a warzone. Now, I'm a freelancer, I'm not in LA or Texas and repped by a union, though some of my pals are and the voice acting community talks. When it comes to white people, they can get audition sides for any and everything. A lot of times what happens with black people is that you will have white performers be called in for anything. Sometimes you'll get the shot with black actors and actresses, but with anime, you'll hear stories of how black actors are not called in for anything but small cameo roles of black characters or characters that tend to be stereotypes, rather than getting a fair break at even AUDITIONING for main characters. One of the most recent and infamous examples was Carol in Tuesday. I don't know the full story and my memory is fuzzy on the details, but the Japanese version of the anime actually went out of their way to get Carol to be voiced by a black girl, the creative team searched all over and got their pick. When it came time to be dubbed in English, they didn't bother asking any black actresses to audition. Many who were called in just flat out said they were not comfortable doing this and passed, but the role eventually went to a white va. The sides that went to black actresses was for some side character that's in like one scene. So this is the problem, you have black and POC VAs being called in for a very small pool of roles to audition for, but sometimes, even with that, you can get tossed aside as a white VA, who can audition for EVERYTHING, comes in and can also get that role. Everyone loves to say "but what about Kevin Michael Richardson, Cree Summer, or Phil LaMarr?!" They're some greats, I love and respect them, but the reality is they're few and far inbetween. Yes, there are black VAS working today, but they've had to fight and work their asses off at the roulette wheel, in one case, my buddy had to "accidentally" read the wrong audition sides he managed to get a hold of that were for all the white characters and he knocked it out of the park. The other side of the issue is about flexibility of roles. Now, I don't speak for everyone, but myself and others have basically said, in an ideal world, sure, let people play whoever is best for the role, but that's not the reality we're currently in. Also We absolutely are NOT saying "only let black people be black people" because then that leads to 90% of us never getting work since there' s like 5 characters at a time. What do we want? To be offered the same opportunities as our white peers, let us audition for white heroes like Captain America, Steve Rogers, All Might, Eddie Brock etc to show off our range. Now I've read with my own eyes peeps on twitter saying that we don't get as many offers because we're not as good or some garbage, but that's not it. We're just not offered the same CHANCES to audition in the first place. Pretty hard to prove your worth if you're not getting send audition sides. I mean my buddy even had a situation where he read for a role, knocked it out of the park, the initial team LOVED his take on the character, but as it went up higher in the chain of command, he oddly got a request for a headshot. We're voice actors, we almost never provide headshots unless we're going to make a con appearance , they were absolutely insistent on him sending his head shot and since he didn't want to, the folks in charge cut him loose despite him absolutely killing it and winning over the local casting team. Then there's cases were pals have been called in to read and then get kind wrangled to just play the thugs and "blacken up" their voices. There are some stides being made because some brave VAs have spoken up and made some noise. The long and short of it is that Erin believes that stepping down is giving more black vas a chance because things have been so skewed for a long time. What the public knows is FAR from the whole story. It's slooooowly changing, but it's rough. I'm freelance and for most of my career no one knew what I looked like, so me just auditioning for projects online had me avoid a TON of these hurdles. Sometimes, I'd get the "Oh wow, I didn't know you were black ShockDingo!" and that's it, but I didn't get the in person hurdles. I hope that provided some perspective on the issue.
  9. Oh snap, do you have a source for this? Anything that talks about Gil & Urien's parents (or the Illuminati) would be nice to have . I've been doing a video that bridges SFV to SF3 and I mostly used the current plot guide, so I didn't see this.
  10. Huh...uh, on the topic of Ortega, I had had the weirdest thought in the back of my mind. Part of his story is that he vanished and eventually when a worthy challenger appeared, he returned. It's been a LONG time since I've played Slam masters, but doesn't he have some upward energy attack that resembles fire? Also, I for the heck of it decided to check on his height. He's 6'7" & 344 lbs G's 6'7" & 330 lbs Both are mysterious with being from "parts unknown" I'm reading too much into this, but I just thought it was weird and kinda interesting hah
  11. Thanks, I'll take a look! ORTEGA?! WHOO! More Slammasters! Bring on Black Widow!!!
  12. Not entirely Street Fighter related, but dang, when Capcom has fun with it's cinematics, they always warm my heart: I absolutely love this trailer.
  13. Nah, I'm with you, I think he could be a rather fun with a bit of updating. You can have a fun clown foil without edging him up and have him straddle the lines between a somewhat theatric and balanced villain. I actually like a classic clown aesthetic, and a travelling Circus of Crime is a concept like to see, I could definitely see him work.
  14. I love Bison, but seriously, if they bring him back too soon, or if they keep retreading the same path it will be like Joker's situation now. Sure he sells, but so many people are so sick of him because he pops up every 5 months and it becomes so frequent they start seeing diminishing returns, so they have to "reinvent" him or add a new gimmick. Then it starts collapsing in on itself. (I still hate the leatherface / Cenobite Joker crap that popped up a few years back) Keeping with the Batman analogy, we need to see some Rhas Al Ghul, Mr Freeze for a change of pace, give us a Clayface tale, and give us a Bane saga. Keeping it just locked to Bison is a mistake, yes, he's the most popular, but we've barely been given a chance with Gill and others so we've never really had a chance. It's why I don't want more shotos like Gotetsu or Gouken's daughter. The visual, mechanical aesthetics have been seen and done to death, we don't have to keep mining there. There's an entire world of possibilities if we're allowed the freedom. I love Rugal and at times am shocked he had 2 canon appearances and then was gone for good, but I respect SNK for knowing when to shift. We got the awesome Orochi Saga, we got Nests, but if we just kept doing Rugal plots over and over it would harm the brand. SF has given us a lot of cool stuff with Bison, but he needs a considerable break from the series, if he returns soon and brings Shadaloo with the serial numbers filed off, it'll be the same thing. He needs to take a break, and when he does return, be drastically different, but not "oh, he's building up to be the headlining villain in the very next sequel." We know more about Shadaloo than the Illuminati and there's so much weird, interesting story potential with them, heck, even after them, I'd like to see interesting, but smaller scale plots and figures, I'd just like SF to keep on growing and dazzling us for decades to come. With the hiatus and reboot after SF3, we burned a lot of time. IF we finally cross the SF3: 3s timeline hurdle, then the future is all the more sweeter from a lore standpoint and some real cool developments could come with each numbered installment. That's also why I'm against a reboot. We're right there, push forward and do a bit of creative storytelling to fill us in on the important points and keep the momentum going and never worry about another delay to SF3.
  15. @Lord_VegaMany thanks! Hmm, I'm definitely gonna need some help gathering the timeline for future reference hah. I didn't realize things were complicated by Cammy's birthdate among other things. I initially thought it was this: Saturday Night Slammasters (early 80s) → Muscle Bomber Duo (early 80s) → Ring of Destruction (mid 80s) → Street Fighter 1 (game released in 1987, is in late 80s) & Final Fight (released 1989, is in late 80s) → SFA2 (late 80s) → SFA3 (late 80s) + Final Fight 2 (late 80s) + SF2 (early 90s) → SF4 + Final Fight 3 → SSF4 → SF5 → SF3: 2I → 3rd Strike Also, anyone know a good way/ program to generate an editable timeline?
  16. Wayne Nakamura's bio in the CRI reports pretty much has seemingly made this rumour canon. It states he saw the Trench Coat man in an American port years ago. Unlike a lot of people, I absolutely don't think Q is G, just one of his "children."
  17. @Lord_Vega@bakfromonDo you guys happen to know where the Richard Burgman blurb about Q comes from and also if there's a full translation? I recall seeing one from ages ago, but can't remember who did it and if it was accurate or not. I'm hoping to grab a scan and translation for my usual vids and such and it'd be helpful if anyone could help me out.
  18. Oh, I saw this on my random travels on the internet, it's the Gamest Mook for 3rd strike in good quality! You can download in various formats like Pdf! https://archive.org/details/Streeet_Fighter_III_Vol_194 Might be useful for anyone. Gotta ask, is the info covered in this the same as what's currently in the plot guide? As usual, was curious if Q's section had anything nifty hah. Enjoy!
  19. I haven't followed the Tarot card debate here closely, but I'd just like to remind people that the lack of clarity may be intentional. Rose was having trouble detecting G's fate, but managed to draw the Fool early in his debut (Menat just assumed he was dumb, she didn't draw it), as a result that's why she sent Menat to investigate. Menat was overwhelmed trying to read him and got beaten, as his power & influence grew that's when Rose decided to take this on herself and upon meeting G she makes note that "the wheel of fate has already turned". So his gathering of followers may have been the subtle nail in the coffin for the Street Fighter world. I've suspected that he has some ability to obscure or hide his nature, thus making him difficult to read. Menat's inexperienced, but capable, Dhalsim's pretty great, and Rose's powers are perfectly suited to true fortune telling, so it makes sense that if G's a tough egg to crack, it would take Rose directly confronting him to learn the truth, while others either were confused by G or totally mislead. Just my .02 and pocket lint.
  20. I'm still not sold on a total reboot or even a reboot at all. I can see a story involving "time travel" with Rose sending her consciousness back, making changes/preparations and then being armed with knowledge or discovering a weakness and using it in the present. Like I said in my post, this feels very Days of Future Past-like, and that wasn't a Crisis on Infinite Earth's level reboot for X-men, but was a major storyline that dealt with one apocalyptic future and they still could forge on. Capcom's gotten a lot of love with some of their newer editions and since SF4 people have wanted more of the SF3 cast. To hurl them away again, just seems like a terrible decision. Like I've said elsewhere, I think this plot point ties to the reason the 5th character is a mystery. So until this season ends and more points in the direction of a reboot, I don't think we should be shouting that the sky is falling.
  21. Agreed, I still think it's a huge missed opportunity that they didn't have the Shadaloo CRI profiles included in the game and make use of that resource.
  22. Good. Nothing good will come from a reboot. We've taken decades to almost reach SF3. All narrative problems can be fixed going forward via an intro/history of the major events and then every new installment just has to keep moving forward and keep things clear. I love Bison, but I do not need to see the alpha arc again, the SF2 arc again, meeting Akuma and the SNH for the first time again.
