  1. Someone made an awesome compilation of the SlamMasters stuff in the new stage. It feels good to see it again
  2. Mika, Black Widow, Gunlock, Ortega, and El Fuerte fight nothing alike other than a few superficial similarities. It's about who you're choosing to add to the roster. If you add one or two, it's not gonna throw things off.
  3. That could be the case, but since he died fully powered up and was resurrected for an unknown time, it could be that he just stayed in that form permanently and wanted to find a way to be stronger in it as well (he definitely seems to have new moves and looks to have updated his sight orb). Kind of like how in DBZ the saiyans spent days remaining in their SSJ forms even when not in battle or training just so it would feel more normal, get used to and eliminate the strain, so it was easier to build up from there? If we look at Rugal here in XV, he's got a blue eye and is acting like his original self but with his Omega powers. He's not more aggressive like in his KoF98 intro or monstrously powering up like that game's winpose and he's not disheveled like in his KoF 95 fight.
  4. Hmm, I dunno if that would work, they all legit hate each other and Vice and Mature have no reason to feign loyalty to Rugal anymore. Also, it makes sense he's Omega Rugal by default since that's the form he died in and got crapped out by Verse. This is so adorable. I'm glad that Capcom hasn't tried to backtrack on "Hey as of SF3, Chun's a maternal figure!" but rather have embraced it. I never thought Li-Fen would get a name and much more focus, but I'm happy they're doing that. It's cool to see Chun progressing forward with her arc. I hope Capcom does more of that with folks. For ages, I've looked at Heidern and thought his transformation into the man behind the scenes that investigates all the weird BS is wonderful! Guile taking a similar role and founding a task force would be a coo way to keep him involved in the series even if he's not always on the ground in the thick of it.
  5. To each their own, it's nice having Rugal back, but I enjoyed the range of stories and povs we got over the years while he was gone. One of KoF's strengths in narrative is the willingness to change focus and be able to break things into arcs.
  6. Same, I've been waiting for this moment for decades (blargh, I'm gettin' old lol) so this is exciting. I really am hyped to see where all of this will go! SNK's been in a good place lately, XV is incredibly has been well received by the audience, so the future is looking incredibly promising!
  7. Agreed, I love what the artist, DTScribe did here, this would be perfect! The handwraps and sash would be great!
  8. Update, so, I've never been happier to be wrong, but Stryker Wang reached out to me and apparently the toys are still happening, but something else was canceled!
  9. Sorta off topic, but they were going to make Captain Commando 3.75 action figures, but a few weeks ago, it got canceled. I want Cap merch and I dunno if I'll ever get what I need...it hurts, man.
  10. At first it seemed like that was indeed so: -Game set in 2026 Metro City -Ginzu / Sho is a successor of Bushin-ryu like Guy -You can find busts of Haggar in the game but as of SFV, Yuta, Ibuki's friend who appears in her win poses and intros has some interesting info in his bio. It states that he likes to use Jennety / Mack the Knife when playing Captain Commando in the arcades and can clear it on one quarter. This opens up some possibilities; -Captain Commando is a fictional property in the Street Fighter Universe and all the previous links to Metro city are just to make it all the more real for fans of the game. -There is a Captain Commando but he licensed his likeness to whoever made the games in the SF verse -Point 1, but he happens to exist in an alternate universe or something. I think it's more likely that it's the first option and would prefer either that way or the alternate universe method. I absolutely love Captain Commando and I think, like Darkstalkers, it's more free to go wild and crazy without having to worry about fitting into the world of SF. Captain Commando has an alien warlord who's been sowing tragedy for a decade on earth or so, Dr. Hoover/ Baby Head has a communicator that can understand the "millions of languages of the cosmos", and Jennety is an alien mummy with knives that can melt anything. It's so wonderfully sci-fi, but to put it into SF would force either property to have to make changes; You either have SF just accepting that at some point after SF3 & SF6, aliens start popping up, the rich travel to distant planets for leisure, and all the heroes lose against Scumocide, so the world is in peril until 2026. OR you force Captain Commando into SF's formula and tone down a lot of the weirder fun elements so it doesn't mess with SF's aesthetic too much. Captain Commando licensing his image in the SF universe doesn't work either because the furthest game in the timeline so far is 3rd Strike, sitting at 1997 or so. So if Yuuta is accustomed to playing it, that means a Captain Commando has to be alive and operating, but the game greatly dramatizes his life since society had to deal with Bison for decades and to our knowledge, no aliens invaded. One headcanon idea I've had for ages that I enjoy, is that Ken has a production company and made a series for Mel's entertainment. He knows Cody & the heroes of Metro city, and since it's a hub of history that many people know, he set the events there. In the manga, Cap aka Mars Carlisle, is a rich blond guy who wants to make the world a better place. You could see Mars as Ken's OC. He knows Guy is Bushin-Ryu, so he could be inspired by that and everyone loves ninjas. Heck, Scumocide could just be his take on Bison. As a bonus the reporter in the manga, Sarah, has a coworker who looks EXACTLY like Cody from SFV: Also, I'm gonna keep this brief, but unless Capcom retcons thing drastically, Luke is NOT Captain Commando. All they have in common is being blond martial artists. -We know Luke's full name and it doesn't match with Mars Calisle -Mars is a martial artist, but he's never demonstrated ki manipulation while his best friend, Sho, has. -SFV & SF6 Luke have hairstyles that don't match anything Captain Commando has had -Luke's got blue eyes, Mars has emerald -Cap has normal sized forearms, no facial scars and no tattoos -Unlike Luke Cap has never served in the armed forces -Luke's father was a normal dude while Cap's father was a genius inventor that started Star electronics -Mars was born in 2020 and is 26 by the events of the 1st game while Luke is at least 21 in SFV which is in the 90s (1996?)
  11. Yeah, to follow up to Darc's point, the SF Ruby heart isn't an interdimensional pirate captain who can summon ghosts, use magic and flies a pirate ship. She's fairly normal by SF standards (and even has both eyes).
  12. A 16 year time jump is rather strange on a few levels: -Why such a huge jump in the timeline? -Why 16 years instead of a nice, even 10 or so? -Aging up so much of the cast is gonna be controversial -Again, why 16 years? We're going from 1997 to 2013? What's the point? Also, I can understand public knowledge being much further behind than the private stuff, but would a retailer get that much info yet? We're gonna see more news in the summer, but I doubt they're that finished with things yet. Is the actual release even gonna be this year?
  13. It's a different case for everyone, but I used to be one of the serious haters. Since talking to Midgarosorm, I've got a different, mellow view, but here's what some of the issue was back in the day; -Due to some serious mistranslations for the english version of Alpha 3 dash, she appeared to be a literal goddess touching down to fight the mere mortals of the SF cast -To make matters worse, some materials like the Udon books too the Goddess thing and ran with it, so she was the creator of the Pandora incident in SFxT -She, with no build up, claims that Psycho Power was hers, thus having all of us freak out that this random character was the sudden holder/origin of this fabled power and then just nopes out all of a sudden into the future. -As Darc pointed out, she has some fans that are more than just passionate, they get to an either annoying degree of devotion or get kinda creepy in an...aroused way despite her rather young appearance. There's been a guy for ages who, at mere mention of her, would appear and just go on and on and on about praising her, even if there was barely any relevance prior to that and spam art. Talking to Midgarosorm, she's more akin to Dr. Who, she's not divine in anyway.
  14. Urien is probably as powerful than Gill since he beat him way back when, but his emotional instability clouds his focus and Gill may be more varied with his options and so stoic thus getting the upper hand. I could be wrong. I feel that with the troopers, most of them should have been like the beret guys fought in India with their sleeves rolled up. I was also hoping we got more of the Troopers that were a tribute to the movie Bison troopers, that would have been cool. The only real place I'd put the comical guys is in the fight scene where FANG is showing off how he can put psycho power in others and Vega and Rog destroy them, other than that, they should have been anything but buffoonish.
  15. At the end of the day, despite enjoying some lighter hearted elements, I can agree there was too much of it. I do hope SF6 doesn't over correct and make everything deadly serious, I wouldn't mind things shifting back to serious with some humour and not overtly goofy. I really wanted the Shadaloo troopers to be more serious, I could understand a gag with one or two in a scene, but too many of the blue suited guys were the goof squad in what should have been Shadaloo's swansong spectacular. I also agree about the Shadaloo stage - I don't mind background antics, but that one should have been serious - have signs of chaos and battle between the warring factions, or just keep the focus on the cool Shadaloo architecture.
  16. Yeah, I'll be another in Rashid's corner. He's lighthearted and goofy and yeah, Juri's scary- he's probably only ever fought "normal people" not psychos wanting his head smashed in. I saw it less of putting Juri over, though that could have been the dev's reason, and showing Rashid being reluctant to go hardcore with someone who clearly wants to murder him rather than have a sporting fight. Comedic cowardice scene or not, when things got serious he stepped up multiple times. So many fight quotes refer to Urien fighting like nothing they've ever seen, even the vets, so here Rashid not only saw him in action, he saw him utterly demolish Charlie, but still grabbed his arm to stop him. He didn't point and yell from across the room while shaking. He had great emotionally earnest scenes with Charlie and despite my many issues with Charlie's portrayal in ASF, I enjoyed those. I'll take the middle-tier, likeable, imperfect, underdog than the tortured, burdened with destiny, edgy guy. Maybe it's because it's been ages since I last played Tekken and missed a couple entries, but I never was interested in him.
  17. See, THAT would be awesome and less of a power level thing. I get that Gill is powerful and I'm a huge advocate of SF not falling into DBZ power creep, but I love clever techniques and methodologies being utilized to show power not just "lol stronk". It would also be such an amazing "oh snap!" moment for the audience.
  18. I'm very okay with the whole "your parents are nothing special" angle. Not everyone needs to have a big predestiny thing, you can have a character who becomes a big deal themselves coming from nothing without it being tied to their lineage.
  19. Hmm, I think either @Lord_Vegaor @Miðgarðsorm solved that, if I'm not mistaken. I think it had something to do with getting distracted during training rather than anything about his sexuality.
  20. Some good stuff dude. I do like the idea of her having some change from the closure of the Shadaloo arc, becoming more of a mentor and sunnier. In terms of looks, I'm not too sure what I'd want, though the Sifu inspired idea appeals to me quite a lot. In terms of passage of time, I don't really want a lot - maybe a year or two, but close to 10 wouldn't sit right for me.
  21. That's the point. He's obfuscating stupidity, feigning being chummy & charming. With all the little details here & there that I've obsessed over, his whole thing is to lure people in like a cult leader. He beat Rashid & shook his hand in friendship, got incredible amounts of media coverage & possible fans, beat Menat & more people paid attention. His arcade ending shows him wandering the earth and winning people over & his stage shows he's already got employees who wear his version of Q's mask rather than the SF3 version. He's likely going to cause a new type of problem rather than Bison's announce to the world everything is in peril. I can see him getting people over to his side (the public, friends, and allies of the cast) and subtly pitting folks against each other until he strikes with his full plan and we see the machinations explode in front of the world and shake people up. Nakayama has been talking about how there's a connection between G, Q, and the G project. Even though the Illuminati doesn't know what he is yet, there's no reason to discount that he knows them. Gill has no idea who G is or Q, but G strangely called Gill (depending on the timeline, in his 30s) the ancient earthling. If development is more streamlined than SFV & there's no hurdles to the story, then it'll be made more clear.
  22. One thing that I'm really happy about is that the aesthetic for the game so far remains colourful -- no washed out, grim, gritty bs. From the colours of Luke's V-effect, to the transition scene leading to the logo, heck even the lighting for Ryu & Luke, still was pretty colourful. For that, I'm thankful.
  23. So quick Street Fighter 6 thoughts: -The technical advancements have me impressed; pores, scars, whoa! -My brain is still processing the visual style, I wanna see it in action & the other stylized characters. I really wanted anime stylized, but I gotta wait and see. I like it, but I don't know how committed to realism they will be for characters like Blanka, Necro, etc will look -Luke seems to have scars on his face & arms -Despite being unsure of the semi-realism, I LOVE the style effect for Luke & Ryu. It seems like the SF3 urban style has returned, whoo! -The transition makes me think the visual style will be in a good place, I wanna see huds and lifebars -Not feeling the logo yet, hopefully they change it up -The Fighting game collection made me lose my mind. I am gonna support the hell out of this since this may be Darkstalkers last chance. Liking the new art with Leo and Morrigan. With the improvements that Nakayama & co have brought, I'm excited for the future.
