  1. I think Dan is waaaay too arrogant to hold back. He's stronger than the average joe because of martial arts training and ki manipulation, but he's definitely lower than most of the cast. In SFV in game and from his own pov in arcade mode, he seems to be getting stronger. I think he could eventually find his true strength in being an unconventional and confusing fighter, but for now, he's gonna be everyone's favourite loser. Yeaaaah, crap in a hat did they do a disservice to her in that one. I don't expect anything major, but hopefully there's some light retconning in her story mode that has her do a bit more, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm thinking with all the focus on her this time around with the marketing and her new status as a master, she'll get her dignity back in full.
  2. Aaah, Malibu comics, what a weird, weird SF adaptation. So glad it didn't influence future games or adaptations, cause oof.... On the topic of the early SF3 sketches, I really didn't connect with any of them to be honest. Maybe the big guy with fun mustache or the normal office man could have been fun, but yeah, it feels so different hah.
  3. Thanks for posting about this. It's been a while since I first saw this and tried to remember the source. I was almost worried it was fan work! Do you happen to have scans of this? Also aaaaages ago on SRK there was a SF4 story bit where Guile & Chun Li are talking about Charlie and he mentions they were both delinquents till they went to military school and turned things around, do you happen to know the source of this also?
  4. Interesting points! Kinda sad somethings changed, but oh well. I really do hope SF6 has something that clearly lays out the events leading up to the game. With the increased budget and polish, now would be an excellent time to have some sort of encyclopedia.
  5. Unfortunately, I'm not sure about union rates, but the big question would be how much dialogue is on the plate. I'm not familiar with Bayo 3's news, but I heard someone said that she's possibly split in like multiple versions of herself? Is that true? That could drastically add to session time. Especially if they're heavy on the dialogue and heavily emotional moments (especially if there's some branching path madness hah)
  6. No prob man, yeah, that was a nightmare to listen to. I will always remember that they had a reel of him vs Steve Blum Sub Zero's main VA and it was rough. You have so much life, depth and nuance in Blum's lines and then you've got this guy who's putting on tones like a child trying to be a monster while trying to scare a sibling. A lot of people don't realize how difficult voice work is lol
  7. Yup, sure! I personally haven't worked on AAA games, but I know some people who have and the whole community is buzzing, cause it's so crazy. Helena Taylor's pretty brave for breaking this out, she's risking breaking NDA and retaliation, but like @BornWinner suspects, some of us are thinking it's a lowballing maneuver rather than being strapped for cash. It should be noted that the final offer given to her was $4K whiiiich isn't great. I did an indie game as a character with quite a decent amount of focus and screen time and got over 1K, but she's in a AAA, hugely successful game that may be union and while I'm not too familiar with Bayonetta as a series, I'm hearing she may be playing multiple versions of herself. So all that plus probably like 10+ hours of recording time and she should definitely be getting a ton more. For whatever reason it seems like they lowballed her to force her out and then brought in Hale and probably paid her more. This thread offers some good insight into what a reasonable payment for her would be: Yeah, payment is an issue these days especially in anime (look at how much the actors in the jujutsu kaisen movie made despite it's HUGE boxoffice success. Some folks made just $250. NO RESIDUALS) During the pandemic there's been a lot of changes (good and bad), some of the good was that we were getting discussions rolling to better things like representation, allowing remote performers etc. Unfortunately, there's some bad. Recently, Crunchyroll kicked out McCarley from the English dub of Mob Psycho 100 literally just for asking to have a discussion on unionization. No demands, no anything. Then there's the ever-present Hollywood celebs issue for video games and movies that keeps getting worse. This Bayo3 situation is really, really weird as it currently stands. Jennifer Hale is amazing, I absolutely have loved her for ages, she's a wonderful talent, and super nice and giving, though yeah, you're right, she wouldn't fall under the "famous person stunt casting replacement" scheme. She's a legend, but not a Hollywood star that a company would shamelessly toss out a VA to replace. No one has details past Helena's videos, but it seems Platinum wanted her out for some reason badly and pulled this. The tl;dr of it is that it sucks and is frankly an awful decision from higher ups. Also I'm still haunted by Ronda Rousey as Sonya and that one DJ that was cast as Sub Zero's special costume. Voice actors keep getting disrespected. They'll pay this guy a TON above the actual VAs because he's a celeb, but his line reads are AWFUL. edit: another perspective on the pay
  8. Iiiiinteresting: Someone posted this, it sounds like a remix of "President of the World", G's trailer song.
  9. Teleporting is awesome, but grabbing other versions of characters from different dimensions is NOT something I want for Street Fighter.
  10. I thought @Chun-Li_Foreverwould enjoy this, especially after the Juri analysis I wanna see angry Chun more often, watch our Juri!
  11. In the winposes and taunts, I love seeing how Guile has so much mastery over his ki now. Also, dang these are all so cool! Love Kimberly's counting one!
  12. Born Winner nailed it. She was like 29-30 in 3S depending on what month(s) it takes place. So if SF6 is a few years from now, she's still only in her 30s.
  13. I'm wondering if it's a fictional island nation like Shad in the SF2 manga??
  14. I feel like you're giving Juri a bit too much credit. She's not on a crusade for truth or what's behind Shadaloo. In my view, violence and vengeance is her drug; she's chasing a diminishing fix and anything tied to it is her excuse. She didn't get to kill Bison, so she'll kill anything that so much smells like it was Shadaloo. "Ok, Bison's dead, lemmie see if I can kill some 4 kings! Oh, they're gone?! Well how bout some conspirators and loyalists?! Oh, crap, killed the last one Thursday. Okay, this guy scratched my bike, I'll kill him and his friend with the bad ponytail!" I don't know where you're getting that she wants to put in the work to make sure it doesn't come back ever again? We don't know how long it's been since SFV, but they're saying after all this time, without Bison she's feeling directionless and with her win quote against Guile at least, she still wants to murder people who get in her way. Guile isn't a bad dude, isn't tied to Shadaloo, but in her win quote, she MURDERS him just because and revels in it. Violence & mocking is the only thing that keeps her going and Shadaloo is a convenient excuse . If Mad Gear did what they did to her, she wouldn't help Metro City to get better afterwards, she'd just want to kill Belger, then Abigail, Poison and whoever was still alive as part of the organization. Rehabilitated, disillusioned in the old org or not. Again, I don't know how long it's been since the end of ASF, but if Chun saw Shadaloo destroyed and her superiors and other orgs deemed it nullified. What point is there for her to stay chasing ghosts? She saw the big bad fall and she's got something in her life worth protecting. If there were small fry, allies could take them on since without Bison, dudes dipped, were killed, or arrested. Chun may have had revenge in her heart, but it evolved into an overall fight for justice. She did join the fight to help out in SF4 before anyone even knew Bison was back.
  15. Could be cool seeing Byron now in the running for office (heck, maybe even running for President) due to taking credit for the operation that ended Shadaloo, him taking on a Solidus Snake route and being a rival to Guile. His reasoning could be multiple things; Gave heart and soul for country, saw that he didn't "get his share" now wants to do something about it Was a Secret Society plant from the beginning and is doing his part now that it seems they're easing into the public sphere. (Heck Urien's mom was an Olympic Medalist, lets see what other corners of the SF world their loyalists occupy) Genuinely a good man, but working with devils to get an extreme new world order (G?) Torch the old and usher in the new? I dunno, lots of fun could be had with him. Back on SRK I loved the idea of a disillusioned, resurrected Charlie looking at the world after Bison's death and saying "it's still a mess" and becoming a rival to Guile as a rival with good intentions, but extreme methods. Maybe something could be done with Byron that's got layers and isn't just "he's a bad guy" or something.
  16. I commissioned Ethan for my zany idea. If Q ever makes it into SF6, I'd love to know how they approach his gameface(s). (I can imagine an eye flash for anger)
