So yeah I'm having crazy fun with AKI. I boot up her intermediate trials with matches on just so I can run through the basics to warm up. It's funny as fuck being in Gold with my fundies and seeing people soy rage over this character. Ran into a Honda that kept headbutting into her poison ball. Dude was getting heated and started spamming butt slam. Still won to hahaha! I'm watching Hikarus replays to get a better idea for how to play neutral. Her combos routes are so fucking awesome but you have to be on point with capitalizing off every potential poison burst. Her corner loops are amazing. Also her stand heavy kick is probably one of my favorite buttons in the game. Just feels good to hit. Gonna grind this chick out for the foreseeable future.

My AKI is trash. Landed in gold for my placements. Don’t know any combos but gonna grind it out. Goodbye for now Lily.

@Darc_RequiemI figured I'd ask you this because I figure maybe you'd have an idea. Why was Poison and Roxy's implementation in FF 1989 so controversial that localizations had them being potentially trans (new-half) but only 2 years later Chun-Li didn't get this same treatment? Just a random thought that came up.

Finally got around to playing the AKI update since I've been off the game for a while now. I decided to play her trials, tutorial and arcade mode. She's fantastic. She's also really fucking hard to use. Everything about her is built on being able to either precog your game plan or be constantly in a position where you can capitalize off of the most situational stray hit. I was worried that her combo trials would filter me but after an hour split between 2 days I got em. I'm gonna go full in and drop Lily for her. She's gonna help me expand my understanding of SF6 and fighting games in general. I've never played a character in any fighting game that demands this much from me. I don't care if she sucks. Her routes are fun and her skill ceiling seems limitless. Gonna take her into rank later this week and start all the way from the bottom. Lily will be my side unga character when I wanna be a retard but AKI is gonna be the main from here on out. Maybe for the entirety of the game baring Kolin doesn't come back (please god please).

SFV wasn't even close to being as player expressive as 6 is but I still like neutral in 5 more than 6. Cr.medium into DR is aids. DJ/Juri/Marisa/Ken random DR is aids. DR eating your jump inputs is aids. Defense is aids. V-Shift was fucking based and V-Reversal actually fucking worked. SF6 is obviously the better product this is objectively fact but my issues with 6 were never that it lacked sauce. I just think the game has cool ideas but how they were implemented feels like darts were thrown at the wall. Why doesn't everyone have the same DR speed? Don't give me some BS reason about muh balance. Why does Lily have no cancelable fucking medium? Why does she not get a combo into light spire off of cr.light combo without meter? Diamond 2 is a fucking ultra sweat lord rank. I feel the fucking clasp from all sides. It's either Diamond 3/4/5's that are far more consistent than me or Plat 5's that are fucking HUNGRY. Shit is a tough. The more I play SF6 and get better with Lily the more I appreciate the game. When 6 first dropped something felt off. I wasn't sure if I would sweat it like I sweated 5 but now that I have a footing, it feels good to jump in and play. But now gimmicks that carried me this far aren't cutting it anymore and on top of that Lily is booboo tier. I still like Lily though. I've neve really been an archetype fighting game player and normally just go with whatever feels good in that game. I actually think Lily despite the memes is quite okay. Even though I wanna play Manon I actually think she'd have a harder time in some ways. I like how fucking stupid Lily can be and that's what makes it fun to boot up the game. I need to rock the SFV fan title just to really tilt fuckers because I haven't seen anyone rock that and I want people to feel bad for losing to a 16er. This was beautiful lmao
