  1. I've heard the translation on that interview is sketchy. Even then, I don't see what's wrong there. They could have made the game with modern inputs only if they wanted. They ended up not wanting to because a bunch of developers didn't even like that they were called "Modern" and "Classic", let alone getting rid of Classic. All I'm getting from that is that developers consider a large amount of potential design choices before throwing away 95% of them and decide what's the best direction to go.
  2. I just enjoy watching anything Street Fighter. Ya'll are just picky. Anyway, when does A.K.I. comes out, I want to see if she's a potential secondary character or not.
  3. I noticed and notice that every time I play against Jamie because his dash punch special seems bloody impossible to block on reaction even though it doesn't even look particularly fast.
  4. You may now refer to me as Master Phantom_Miria. In case you wish for a more informal way of referring to my most prestigious person then simply Master or His Excellency will suffice. I am a merciful lord.
  5. So, the main theme of MK1 is basically "what if this character's story was the opposite of what it used to be". Kitana and Mileena's roles are switched. Scorpion and Sub-Zero as well. Baraka isn't a token bad guy jobber but kind of a hero for a bunch of oppressed people. Tanya isn't a chronic backstabber but the most loyal of Edenia's bodyguard (so Jade is going to be the traitor in this one, maybe?). I don't know. Much like the "what if in the next game there's a time skip and we play as the children/students of the old main characters who are now masters" trope I feel that it sounds interesting when fans speculate about it and it's likely to turn dumb and unappealing when they actually make a game out of it. Also, the trend of using stunning real life actors to face-scan and then seemingly uglify them in-game continues. Like, is this on purpose or are they just fucking up? If it's the latter, are they really that bad? And if it's the former, why even?
  6. On one hand, now each and every scrub in the game will be able to always buffer Drive Rush correctly and never drop it. This is bad and not a good thing. On the other hand, now I will always be able to buffer Drive Rush correctly and I will never miss one again. This is a good thing. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
  7. *Innocently walks back and forth for footsies* *Presses crLK as a random neutral check* *Super 2 comes out* "So that's how it is then."
  8. The animations have improved in terms of of fluidity, it's the cancels that look really janky, plus the Kung Lao thing where he teleports that just very silly. MK games have been constantly improving in terms of animation, but they keep having stuff that doesn't look right. Also, I just thought the meme was funny.
  9. Biggest revelation ever since I figured out that "Skullgirls" was a pun on "Schoolgirls". It took me several years to notice that, by the way.
  10. Nice! This Digital Playground take on Snow White seems promising. Wait, what do you mean that this is Disney? I know it looked too cheap for Digital Playground, but this is too much!
  11. This is the ideal crossup jump. You may not like it, but this is what a peak mixup looks like. https://clips.twitch.tv/BusyIgnorantArtichokeBrokeBack-SQxuq0Yl5bWebSOO
  12. No, JP can't combo into his command grab, only go for risky resets and tick throws. He can cancels his normals into command grab, but you always have the chance to jump, so if you react correctly you land a fat punish on him. JP's command grab is scary because it goes full screen, punishes parrying his projectiles at the wrong time and can definitely catch you by surprise, but everytime JP does it he bets his life on it. A good JP is only gonna throw stuff sparingly and in places where you're likely more concerned about other stuff. Either that or he notices you're free to that move and trolls you.
  13. We're already at the stage where we're missing SFV because it was more solid and footsie-based, while VI is scrubby and random? Back in my day there were no scrubby Drive Impacts and Drive Rushes. Through well-thought and calculated footsies I could land a precise Crush Counter (best mechanic in the game, that worked especially good in conjunction with the priority system) and punish my foolish opponent for playing random, and then finish him off with a skillful V-Trigger cancel into combo. Now these '23ers are out there throwing random Drive Rushes for plus frames and fraudulent Drive Impact to skip footsies, and it's just not the same. 😔
  14. Mike Ross has switched back to Honda. I repeat: Mike Ross has switched back to Honda. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
