  1. I would settle for DR not eating inputs. I think it's perfectly doable to react to them with a long range normal, provided it actually comes out when you press the button. Cr. fw. xx DR is still annoying, but I can live with it. What baffles is me how people complained endlessly about SFIV's FA (never mind FADC) but seem perfectly fine with DI. Two hits of armor and safe on block? Who the hell thought that was a good idea? And yeah, parries in 2D games will never be a good idea. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
  2. Something peculiar I noticed... I was labbing Sub, and I noticed that the Ice Klone frequently will not execute. I look at the inputs on the side of the screen and I see that I'm doing it correctly, yet the move won't come out. I also never fumble the Ice Ball, which is the exact same move when you're facing the other side. Seems like a bug. Anyone else experience this? I'm on Series X, by the way.
  3. Haven't played the game yet, but damn it if it isn't the prettiest fighting game out there by a mile. MK11 looked great, but this is exquisite. They've obviously put the resources that MK11 generated to good use, Boon and friends have really outdone themselves this time.
  4. Worse than Rousey...? I find that hard to believe.
  5. Animation has never really been NRS's strong suit, but it's reached a level as to where it is acceptable now. MK11's animation was decent. Also, the rest of the game looks incredible, from the stages to all the little details on the characters. I know it's a trend in the FGC to be condescending towards MK, but every entry is a labor of love with an amount of content and polish that leaves most other fighting games in the dust. MK11 is the best-selling fighting game of all time for a reason. I am definitely buying MK1.
  6. Finally found some time to play today. I was already on the brink of Master, so I figured, what better time than now to make the last push to get Jimmy among the Master ranks. In the final match, I played this really solid Ken player who played a great turtling game. It went down to the last round before I closed it out with a DR headbutt, st. short, medium ball>CA3. I had never landed that combo outside of training mode so needless to say, I felt pretty smug about that. More importantly though, after a long grind, your esteemed fellow forum member is now finally Mast... Uh...? Diamond 5...? Goddamnit, there's a Diamond 5?!
  7. Yeah, I echo your thoughts on this. I lose to every damn Lily I play (about one every two weeks), even though she's low tier.
  8. JP's cr. rh. being only -6 is a crime against humanity. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?
  9. Just my 0.02... - st. short x2 > medium ball. Great for punishing everything that's -4 and slower. Jump attack (mostly j. fierce), st. fierce, wild lift, medium vertical ball or CA1 or 3. If the jump attack is blocked, cr. jab x2 into medium ball. If cr. jab is blocked too, cancel 2nd cr. jab into short wild hunt or do an overhead. In the corner: DI or jump attack into st. fierce, OD ball, roundhouse vertical ball, OD vertical ball or CA1 (CA3 doesn't work, no juggle properties for some reason). - I bait them and react with my own. - None, unfortunately. - I don't think Blanka has many bad matchups, he has the tools to handle most things you throw at him. Honda is definitely his worst matchup if you ask me, fat bastard is very effective at out-turtling you. General trick that has won me many matches: AA with st. roundhouse into fierce ball for over 2000 damage. Anyway, this is the stuff that works for me. I'm on the brink of Master, but I can barely find time to play.
  10. All this talk of hit confirms makes me yearn for the Zbattle days where I won most of my matches because of my reaction speed. That's just as well, because my execution was garbage. Now, 20+ years later, my reaction speed is gone and my execution is still garbage.
  11. There shouldn't be a damn universal parry in the game in the first place.
  12. Shouldn't progressives celebrate that the Saudis are dumping a ton of money into things like esports and other forms of entertainment? Nothing like a bit of bread and circuses to loosen the iron grip that the Islamic conservatives have over those regions.
  13. The D-pad reminds me of the old Saturn one. Ah, the memories... ...The memories of being to poor to afford a Saturn, so I slaved away delivering newspapers for pennies while some rich kid prick was playing Virtua Fighter 2, Panzer Dragoon and Daytona USA. Goddamnit.
  14. It's not just that the d-pad is bad, the whole thing has the ergonomics of a brick; the edges where the shoulder buttons are located drive into your fingers after playing for a while and the triggers are far too spongy. Never mind the useless touchscreen.
  15. DI is more annoying because you get hit by it every now and then for big damage, but DR is pretty much mandatory if you want to compete at the Master level online, let alone offline. The people who think DI is stronger are probably the same people who have no clue about frame data.
  16. Never played SF6 on a DS5 but I heard it's indeed even worse than the DS4. I can remember a time when you could get a MadCatz fight stick with full Sanwa components for just 150...
  17. I played SF6 on a Series X today and I have to say that the d-pad on that controller is so much better than the immovable brick on that absolute piece of dogshit controller that is the Dualshock 4. Just so you know.
  18. All hail Blanka-sama. He graciously let that poor homeless man win the tournament so he could lift himself out of the gutter. Such an inspiration to us all. Anyway, how many Americans does it take to win an SF EVO title?
  19. Blanka-sama is benevolent to his underlings and merciless to his enemies.
  20. Oh Christ, don't tell me they're going to play all the character themes...
  21. Who's the intern at Namco who had the idea to create a character around coffee? Did they throw a dart at their bulletin board and just decide to make a gimmick persona around the first word that they hit? I just did the same thing. The word I hit was 'agriculture', so here's an idea: they can create a farmer for their first batch of DLC characters. I'll be expecting my royalty check in the mail soon.
  22. I know it's a giant stick, but I prefer to think it's a normal-sized one and that all the people in the picture are midgets.
  23. Fierce ball has so much startup, you can make a cup of coffee, learn a language and then come back to deal with it before it hits you. I've had people on classic controls DP it on reaction. The jab and strong varieties are faster, but they are highly punishable.
