  2. I used to try and troll SRK until people thought I was the biggest prick on the forums, but it was always mission impossible with this guy around. He still lives in China, right? I'm surprised they haven't yet hauled him off to one of their 're-education' camps.

  6. Exactly my thoughts. First time I noticed it was when Link was included in SC2. I thought it was stupid, but didn't really think about it too much. Little did I know that 20 years later, it would infest so many other games. I don't really mind characters like Cody in SF. I'm not a big lore guy, but I think FF and SF are supposed to be in the same universe. I really hate the Injustice-esque characters in MK, as well as Robocop, etc. It's so jarring and out of place.
  7. Am I the only one who doesn't like guest characters from other universes...? Apparently there's a big demand for them, but I just find them immersion-breaking.

  9. I'd like to take a moment to express how ecstatic I am about SF6's release. Not that I like the game that much, but now SFV is fucking dead and buried and that brings tears of joy to my eyes.
  10. I actually liked the Focus Attack mechanic in (S)SFIV. It was sprinkled in enough during high-level matches as to where it was viable, but it did not become overbearing and didn't make you afraid to throw out pokes, as is the case with DI. It's pretty insane that they greenlit a mechanic that's essentially a Focus Attack with two points of armor and quicker startup, never mind that it can't be armor-broken and effectively dizzies on block in the corner. To be fair, unlike the FA, you can't cancel the DI, but it's not as if it needed another perk. I don't hate DI, but I feel it needs some tweaking. I find DR a superfluous mechanic that you need to spend meter on to get what you would've taken for granted in other games, i.e., plus frames. As for the universal parry, I think it's easily the worst addition to any Street Fighter game. I echo your thoughts of wanting a more 'austere' SFII type of game with fewer frills and pointless mechanics tacked on.
  11. Now that we've established that SF6 is a much better game than the train wreck that its predecessor was, can we take a moment to appreciate what a good time it is to be a member of the FGC? A new SF, a new MK on the way, as well as Garou 2 and Tekken 8. Not to mention that Samurai Shodown got rollback netcode and Strive is still going strong. In an ideal world, I would've also like DOA7 and VF6 to be announced, but I guess you can't have everything.
  12. Indeed. I'd like projectiles to do chip damage and be non-parryable, but by implementing that, you'd have to shuffle the entire board again by balancing the game around that. E.g. in his current state, JP would be triple S tier if his psycho stuff did chip damage.

  15. You can avoid regular dashing when using the drive rush shortcut by pressing parry slightly before pressing the second forward. My execution in general sucks, but I never drop this.
  16. It runs fine, I didn't notice any difference with the PS5 version in lag or frame dips or whatever. As Hawkingbird said, WT is locked at 30FPS and it's pretty loud on startup, but it calms down a bit when you play the game.

  19. AA into coward crouch > punch > vertical roll does 2520 damage, I think, meterless at that. I think Blanka might have the best AA game out of the entire cast. And yeah, I need to learn those corner setups with Blanka-chan as well. Nishikin has some ridiculous setups that he does in actual matches.
  20. Now that we've had some time with the full game, what's everyone's opinion on it? I can stomach Drive Impact and I have no issues with people using modern controls, but I can't really look past some other things: 1. Universal parry. Combined with the fact that specials (projectiles in particular) no longer do chip damage, this seems like another kick in the nuts for zoners. 2. Drive Rush. Not a fan of how you can bulldoze past the neutral and get the extra frame advantage for it, even if it costs meter. Overall I like the game, but I can't help but feel I would absolutely love it instead if it weren't for these two issues.
  21. I also got to Diamond a couple of days ago with Blanka. I got there by using practically nothing but fierce roll, whiff roll bite shenanigans and st. roundhouse AA > into coward crouch, upward punch and vertical roll for stupid AA damage, or just a horizontal roll if the st. roundhouse hits from too far away. I've also used the occasional OD vertical roll as a reversal to get me out of a pinch. Barely used Drive Rush and Drive Impact, never used his second super art nor the Blanka-chan dolls. As many people said, ranking up seems a lot easier in this game.
  22. An SF game just never feels complete to me without the four bosses. It's like playing chess without the @Pair of Rooks.
  23. Nobody posted for 4 hours, dead game confirmed. RIP SF6. You guys remember how great SFV was?
