  1. I know that as a game it's not that good outside of the core gameplay, which is admittedly simple. I say that as someone who likes the gameplay and plays MK1 a lot. Story mode is OK at best (hate that they went the MCU route iykyk), and Invasions is straight trash. But I haven't seen any tournaments or been up on any drama to judge from that perspective.
  2. I THINK their logic is this: those games take time and money and care, and even then, aren't guaranteed major sales. Why do that when you can roll these live service dice until you get one that hits? Because one hitting may make up for many that don't. Just like the egregious microtransactions in these games nowadays. The few "whales" more than make up for the majority that are pissed at them. But this gamble is dangerous in a way microtransactions aren't. I think the whole idea of live services is getting a stink on it now, outside of a couple properties that excel at it. If they throw all their eggs in that basket, it'll be a disaster.
  3. Random, but does one have to have watched Dune 1 to enjoy Dune 2? I'm hearing all this stuff about how great Dune 2 is, but didn't see 1.
  4. I think the only hope there is the indies and maybe the mid-level studios. 120 million is cute, but AAA studios are about way bigger numbers, and you need GOW Ragnarok sales every title to get those numbers without microtransactions. We might never be truly free of them when talking about any AAA studio.
  5. I think he meant (albeit with sarcasm) those new outfits. I'm ok with them, but can see how one would think they're butt-ugly. Except for the main Mileena's one. I like that. If I played Mileena, I'd be trying to snap that up over the weekend.
  6. I SO wanna believe he did that as a chess move, knowing they'll be more valuable in the future when Trump is either dead, in jail, or president again. But I know it's much dumber than that: he really just bought them.
  7. Algorithm engagement. That's what. Somehow, someway, losers like that get paid off the anger that comes his way. Whether it be ads or new members. Used to be, if you verbally shit your pants, you'd just get laughed at and that will be that. Now, everybody has an echo chamber AND them getting dunked on is beneficial. Not that much, but enough to make it worth it. It's worth it to shit your pants and be a public loser if you have no other skills these days. If you gather a crowd, that is. I just really wish we had a way to stop rewarding all these all these professional pants-shitters.
  8. I'm close to the opposite end. I see the value in keeping stuff, no doubt. But being able to play damn near everything right now on Spotify makes up for the times where something is behind a legal wall. Those times are so rare for me. Then again, I'm not a music buff. Frankly, I'd have a more "keep your stuff" attitude about DVDs/Blu-Rays. I don't care for them myself, but the splitting up of EVERYTHING you get nowadays is getting annoying.
  9. Wow, I thought they somehow did that thing where they get two photos mixed up, but yeah, that's her.
  10. Literally every time I think "I'm not getting paid enough", some report that a company is laying off hundreds comes out. I don't know what sign the universe is trying to give me. Is it trying to say "go for it; you might not be there tomorrow" or "stay where you are"?
  11. My brain almost made me gag just processing that. Some dumbasses don't get that you have to KNOW the rules to break them. Your captain is flying (frying?) blind.
  12. I look forward to this going forward (win or lose) if it has merit, but you're banking on the collective intelligence of Elon Musk and Gina Carano here. In all likelihood, Elon's posturing and/or being stupid again, and Gina's scratching for any bit of fame she could get now. If Disney has any solid proof they asked her to stop tweeting conspiracy shit and she wouldn't, then that's it. I can't imagine proof of justification in the firing of Carano will unearth secrets Disney just doesn't want to come out.
  13. I will say that this is interesting. If she has a case and it goes through, that'd be something to see. If she's being strung along for billable hours, that'd be funny to see.
  14. She comes from casino money. Why even do this? Is the reality that she got fired to get internet pats on the back from the likes of Ben Shapiro finally sinking in? I mean, if anything I've heard around the time of her firing is true, she was given several opportunities to shut up peddling the conspiracy stuff she was peddling. James Gunn, when he got fired, got given way less chances.
  15. To this day, I can't figure out how they came to think they could do that stuff they rolled back in the first place. So dumb.
  16. He didn't help things much, pissing on people who like it with that "just play the 360 if you can't get online" (I'm paraphrasing) statement. I don't think we'll ever get a behind-the-scenes story on what made them try that shit, but this is pretty good chronicling it:
  17. Hmm. I might finally fuck with Microsoft's game offerings if they put more and more stuff out multi-console. I know it's petty, but I'm still holding that always-on nonsense around E3 2013 against them. I could EASILY buy an xbox and play those games alongside my PS4/5 games, but they missed that boat and now I don't see anything over there worth playing. Exclusives are dry all around now, but it's almost like XBox has none.
  18. His approval is the effect. It's one thing if you have dogshit service like Atlanta and never even had him review you. But I've never heard of someone getting his approval and then fucking it up. Especially over something so trivial. But aside from that:
  19. Yeah, I know about him hitting Atlanta. But the thing is, the real milk and honey are still still around and didn't get reviewed favorably in the first place. But since they're established and it's Atlanta (apparently the whole food scene is kinda trash), they survive. This woman might literally go out of business after winning the game. Like, there was nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the uptick in business. She threw it away for 2K.
  20. So, there's this ex-MMA food blogger named Keith Lee who's blown up over the past year. He goes to unknown places recommended by fans that aren't doing well and rates the food. If he says the food is good, the places blow up and have lines around the block. Aside from just rating, he'll sometimes tip the staff a crazy amount. Well after reviewing Sweetly Seasoned, he gave 4K to the staff as well, to be split. 2K to the owner and the rest split up I don't know how off the top. The owner took it all for herself though, and got found out. As a result, there's no pickup in business like there would be if Keith Lee gave you a good review. In fact, things are going the other way. The above is the owner trying to save face. I came across this whole drama and, just... She might have tanked her business over 2,000 funky ass dollars when she could have been making that shit daily with the increased business. She might literally be the first person to fumble the "Keith Lee effect". How stupid people can be still surprises me to this day.
  21. I am wondering just how in the hell we deal with microtransactions in general. Even the non-lootbox ones pollute any game they're in, because the devs have to make the game more grindy to put more space between you and what you want (unless you pay). With MK, you used to have a clear path to things you want, but now most things are randomized. As much as I'm liking MK1's core gameplay, it's like either micros or laziness have sucked everything out of it outside that. I can't stand that awful Invasions mode, and the online is barebones.
  22. Damn. Landlords try to rob in any way they can. Though, I must say when I lived in an apartment (just last year) my "convenience fee" for online payments was just under 3 bucks.
  23. This is how bad it gets when you don't want to pay people and suck as a client. Trump MIGHT be really going to jail. If he was as rich as he says and even a drop tolerable, GOOD lawyers would line up around the block to represent an ex-president.
