  1. Fuckin eh! I can’t wait for this game. Thanks!
  2. Capcom not hiring Logan is the best decision they’ve made since starting development on SF4
  3. This is a good and funny video, but the ending is a nice touch.
  4. It is though. Not execution-wise (well compared to other SFs and a lot of anime games), but I do think SFV is a hard fighting game to do well in, even at a low level… I did a large post about this a few days ago, but I think how inconsistent (or non-intuitive) the frame data is, and how strong frame traps and oki setups are is a big reason for it.
  5. He did make quite a few posts on Twitter later and seemed to start understanding and appreciating how to do combos. He actually kinda seemed interested in the genre, but he did say that losses made him super salty and probably wouldn’t play it much more because of that alone… which will be a problem in any 1v1 game where you can’t blame your teammates lol
  6. Yeah, when I was a kid, my favourites were Chun, Blanka, and Honda (in order) because I could mash out their mashed specials. I preferred to play as Ryu or Ken, but I really struggled to get their specials out reliably.
  7. Yesterday there was a big AT&T invitational SFV tournament with big name, non-FGC streamers. This clip was the one that blew up and started the debate. funny enough, before it started, BrianF just recommended for a newbie to pick Honda and mash LP, and they did that and got pretty far and had a blast. There’s another clip of the first guy where he compliments FG players
  8. I was actually voted at high school graduation to be the most likely to join the WWE lol.
  9. Daemons has a lot of work to do to get that, and unfortunately, once they do, they’ll up and vanish like a fart in the wind.
  10. Is Japanese SFV Dan any less annoying than English? Because holy F
  11. I don’t wait longer than 2 minutes for match, at the very most, but that be a location thing
  12. IMO, this is Strive’s lobbies worst feature. Absolutely wack that you can avoid hard match-ups, even in casual matches where everyone is running by you because they don’t want to fight your character. and I think being able to endlessly rematch in ranked (until someone gets promoted anyway) is BS too. In Casual matches it’s great (and it does annoy me to no end that SFV restricts casual matches to FT2s)
  13. I don’t know. Strive lobbies are absolute bottom of the barrel tier, and they’re stubborn af about changing them.
  14. I think that’s a different situation though, because from what I understand, you can’t directly P2P someone on the same WAN IP address, so it’s one of those server connections instead where it routes you both to one of Capcom’s servers (wherever that is in relation to where they were is a crapshoot). not saying SFV’s netcode isn’t bad, and I know yesterday I said it was pretty good on a good PC (and it is), but if you compare system to system, like PS4 Strive to PS4 SFV, SFV is garbage tier. PS4’s Rev2 delay-based netcode is better than SFV’s rollback.
  15. Honestly, the difference even between a PS5 and a good PC is night and day. On PC, this game actually has a pretty good netcode (at least against the random 3 - 5 bar matches I’ve played)
  16. I saw some massive balance patch notes with Jiyuna translating it on Twitter, I’ll copy the thread below (he adds more in the comments as well). Not sure what that means for the game though… I still haven’t played it, even though I own it, but from the little that I knew, the shield mechanic seemed a little too strong and prominent… it seems they adjusted shield quite a bit, but I am not sure how that actually effects it’s usage (is it a buff or a nerf, etc)
  17. No. I think they want him to be top tier so he’s one of the most common characters you see competitively, as some sort of ploy to hype us up for him in SF6 (which will likely have the adverse effect, because we’ll all hate his guts)
  18. For me, in my experience, the thing that makes SFV less beginner friendly, then say, 3rd Strike, is that the frame data isn’t intuitive in a lot of cases. A lot of stuff that seems like it should be unsafe, isn’t, or at least not enough where an EX DP won’t smack you out of your punish attempt. You don’t need to memorize frame data of course, but it takes a while to fight the natural urge to press a decent range medium button after a move that looks like it should be unsafe. Instead, you should maybe press your fastest light button (which isn’t universal) and see what happens, and then hopefully remember it for next time. To me, as someone who still struggles with this (I’m stupid, I know), it seems like you have to remember (or straight-up memorize) so much more information, much earlier on than you may have to in other games. Do you need that knowledge in other games at a high level? Of course, but in SFV’s case, I feel like that’s a barrier of entry to even just lower mid level, while still dealing with all the mind games and random BS the game throws at you. In 3S, in my experience, you don’t need this stuff early on. You need to learn a few combos, get a feel for your buttons, and then start learning and optimizing your hit-confirms, and working on not being too predictable, which can carry you into the mid-level or close to. The frame data is a lot more intuitive and moves that look like they should be unsafe usually are, and as such, the few outliers are much easier to remember. It seems like once you hit mid level is when you’re learning more OS parries and buffers and stuff that can take you further, and the mid to high level is when you start really needing to acquire the deep knowledge of the various situations that can arise and weighing if you should blue parry an attack, or maybe block and then red parry, etc… To me, 3S, feels like a much more natural skill/knowledge progression. Also, SFV is rich in frame traps, which is a tough thing for a newb (like me) to wrap their head around. You get scared. You just never want to press anything and then you eat a tick-throw. That’s when you’re like, fuck it, I guess I’m ultra bronze and need a master’s degree in SFV’s frame data.
  19. I don’t have a problem with come back really (definitely a lot of skill and good decisions involved). Just surprised a dude can get a full stock of super and three V-meter bars, by taking a beating and only landing two cr.LPs
  20. It’s nuts that you get full resources for being attacked for 60 seconds, while barely landing a hit yourself lol
  21. Ahh yeah! 1cc’d Natsuki on Normal/Medium. This game is dope!… Hard will be quite the challenge though, but I’m up for it.
