  1. I feel like it's the trouble of trying to mush these more realistic character models into the character's classic fighting stances. The newer characters like Jaime and Luke seem a lot more natural.
  2. That Ken clip looks more like a character viewer menu than a VS character select screen. That looks like some kind of currency counter up in the corner, so this might be like a costume buyer/display screen.
  3. Ok, both pants and pantless Cammy is available in this game. Can we please never mention it ever again. Also, it seems like there's no real "comeback" mechanic in the game so far, right? Just the Super bar that transfers through rounds.
  4. Yeah I'd love to see her, but I think for the kind of modern vibe they've got going for this game they want the launch roster to be on theme with each other. A middle age gypsie lady doesn't fit in as well. Dhalsim squeaks in because he's an orginal. I'm sure it will be free game for returning characters when it comes to DLC though. But Dee Jay was my secondary in SF4, so I'm all set with this roster. It's just a matter of seeing if the playstyles for any of these new characters pique my interest more.
  5. I love what I'm seeing so far. The strong emphasis on single player content looks great to me. As someone who also enjoys zoning, the parries do give me pause, but I feel like the easiest way to balance this is to not have the parry restore any bar if it interacts with a fireball. If someone has to use up all their meter, the same meter they'd need to do offensive EX moves, that seems like it wouldn't ruin fireball zoning. I might be the only one, but I'm hype to see Dee Jay back. I hope they lean into his Sobat style and make him less of a Guile clone. Come to think of it, I think this leak might be a good thing. Considering the majority of the cast are original characters, now there won't be that cycle of getting worked up over character reveals and disappointed when it's someone new. Now we know who's coming, but it will still be exciting to see how they all play when the trailers come.
  6. Finally did it. Managed to work through my anxiety and hit gold rank. That was the last PlayStation trophy I needed for SFV as well, so I got the platinum. My 161st platinum trophy, as a matter of fact. Feelin' good.
  7. Some neat Rose things that now work that I hadn't considered from just reading the patch notes: Cr. hp combos into hp fireball naturally, which is +4 so you can go into the target combo. The special cancel on EX soul bind means you can now juggle with heavy spiral after, but I personally think dropping a close soul punish is even better. If they quick rise, you're +2, in throw range, with a soul punish mine right behind them. I'm trying to figure out some setups in case they don't quick rise. I'm probably going to stick with VT1 as well. VT2 still looks like a lot of work for little reward unless you can raw-activate punish a dp or jump in. I'm gonna mess around with the cards though. Edit: Also she can land a sweep after a CC back heavy kick.

  9. Ok I'm back after falling into an extended Elden Ring coma and ready to play some fighting games. Looks like I'm going to finally learn how to use Rose VT2. Digging her buffs so far, eager to see how they work out. Also Lucia just got way more YOLO, which I'm all for.
  10. Well, I usually go into the back B kick command normal off of lights, then into the EX slide. I've only used the forward A off of heavier buttons, which is easier for me to not get a fireball by accident. Kukri only has the one command normal, so trying do a fast low confirm into that and not get a fireball was driving me bonkers. Which is a shame, because I really liked his fireball and teleport nonsense.
  11. I remember this video where Justin Wong played vs Kizzie Kay and he made Whip look good. But then Justin can make any character look good if he wants too. I tried Whip out myself, but had the same issues with trying to get the half circle motions off of a cr. b. There's been a few characters like that where I got turned off of them by some of their basic BnB execution. I really wanted to learn Kukri but trying to do cr. b into his forward a command normal for combos without accidentally getting a fireball input was killing me. Right now I'm trying to learn Athena, Maxima, and Blue Mary. I've seen a lot of people claiming Maxima is bad, but we'll see if I can do anything with him.
  12. If those are the in-game models, they look pretty good. I know the default emotion on this forum is relentless pessimism, but I'm intrigued to see more.

  14. After spending a few hours with the game on PS5, I can say I never felt any input lag. Of course, I never felt the input lag on SFV either. It's possible that I'm just a smooth-brain console player, but it's also possible some people over-estimate their ability to determine an miniscule segment of time. What I'd like to know now is if there's any tools, in the game or out, to see things like frame data, or armor/invincible properties on moves?
  15. The Great Ape of YouTube content has struck again. This video is great for people like me who don't know much about this series and are just coming in. For example, I knew nothing about the character Athena, but then he describes her with "If you want to lose friends...this character is very annoying." Yes. Yes I do want to lose friends. That character sounds perfect for me. I'm not sure if it's smart to stack a team of 3 characters who share this kind of gameplan, but I'm probably going to try it.
  16. Tried some Baiken, seems alright. Back to Jack-o. I'm still struggling with some basic things in this game. How the hell do you wakeup overdrive regularly? Specifically with those goofy half-circle back - forward commands. I've gotten the timing right like 3 times in 30 minutes.

I still occasionally blue roman cancel by accident when I try to dash and I don't think I've remembered to burst out of getting hit once in my life. doo-doo tier GG players unite. @Sonero Bro I don't even think you'd have fun playing me in Strive unless fist-fighting kittens is a hobby of yours or something.
  19. @MattatsuYou have Strive on PlayStation? I'm still pretty butt at the game and want to play some people, but ideally someone remotely close to my skill level. We can go a few rounds when Baiken drops, perhaps. I'm interested in trying her myself, but I'm also still trying to unlock Jack-O and I've been itching to learn some Anji. I played some casual games vs a friend using him and found the twirly-twirly- fuck-you-guess-which-block game pretty fun.

  22. From my point of view the Sol players are evil. But I don't actually have any interest in playing Sparkly Reinhardt over there, I just appreciate how big they're going. The Vanguard spear-bro looks more up my alley.
  23. I still don't really know what this game is or where it came from, but I enjoy that more people seem to be trying to make quality fighting games lately. As for this trailer, bro looks like a grappler with crazy Jesus lasers and some kind of aegis reflector wall to bounce people off of. Why not.
  24. Digital purchase, no can do. Besides, weren't you scolding me to try new playstyles like a week ago? Well turns out the most fun playstyle I've discovered in this game so far is throwin' dolphins. 😈
