At this point I'm probably rooting for Nuckledu or Mena if he's using Blanka. I just can't cheer for any Luke player.
400 iq move
Blanka wins Capcom cup and gets nerfed for season 2 🙂

Jesus I have PTSD from the training room music when you have ultra. That is probably THE worst music in any SF game in history.
The actual training stage/mode theme is good, it's just for some reason in the matches the song immediately goes into the repetitive notes section and only changes for the low health moments

Now its time we get a Street Fighter MOBA.
.... Lowkey that sounds cool but half the characters might not quite fit the typical top-down gameplay perspective

The amount of frauds and literal who's in this Capcom cup is incredible. An entire group is basically "go take a break, comeback in an hour". The new qualification system sucks.

I forgot all about how rapid and quick SF6 matches can be when we're not interrupted by esports shit and ad breaks every 5 fucking minutes
-
Jesus punk just folded in the finals set. What the hell happened after he played so convincingly well against Tokido?

What happened to CEO, Combo Breaker, Stun fest, NorCal Regionals, Canada Cup etc.
I mean both CEO and CEOTaku are still going fine
Combo Breaker is massive every year
Stunfest died because of shit production and they kinda moved away from twitch to some French stream platform
Can't comment on NCR
Canada cup had a sort of implosion because of organisational issues and the whole lapchi crypto drama

You guys are forgetting that while esports objectively hurts FGC events, if it collapses as a now integral part of the genre - it completely kills international competition even at majors. Nobody is going to spend thousands of dollars to travel across the Atlantic ocean for 2-3 days to come out with nothing and only lose out while not being compensated by the sponsor. If anything it will force a transition to where most fighting game tournaments will become unviable to support and the genre completely transitions into online outside of REALLY big events like EVO, CEO, UFA, Combo Breaker. And online tournaments fucking suck

Capcom really don't want people to watch capcup
The event itself is spread over like 10 days, LCQ is taking an entire weekend for some reason, the main bracket itself kicks off on a WEDNESDAY when every single major event is usually during the weekend, and to top it all off there's no announcement or a reveal taking place, apparently not even for the season 2 patch
But hey million dollars amirite

Imagine like they release a Season 2 balance patch before all the Season 1 characters have dropped lol
Don't see anything wrong with it
Release season 2 patch
Observe feedback
Make adjustments
Drop Akuma and another balance patch before new CPT season kicks off
It's much better than waiting another fucking year if the Capcom Balancing strikes again

Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring.
Yeah and it's shit. Granted Tekken is also doing a one char per time of the year release but at least it had a roster twice the size of SF6 at launch
1 hour ago, HeavensCloud said:They probably are doing the 27th because Capcom Cup ends on the 25th and they want to show his release trailer there.
Imagine they don't even tease Akuma in any way and conclude a CPT season finale with a fucking Ed trailer lmao
-
Just a reminder there's the Topanga Charity Cup for SF6 taking place right now with over 600 teams of 5 entering the competition, they're gathering the donations for and raising awareness about the relief efforts towards fixing the damages caused by the earthquake that took place in Japan recently
-
So Akuma is in April or may for sure then
Launch was in early June, Rashid in late July, Aki in mid October, Ed in February. Seems the gap is roughly 2-3 months between characters

I feel like the "season 2" part of the promo has to be a mistake. I just don't see season 2 starting in March when Akuma wouldn't even have dropped yet
Season 2 will kick off immediately after CPT finals with a big balance patch. They don't have to release Akuma alongside the balance update. In fact it's even better because if they fuck up some of the S2 changes Capcom can either roll those back or make further adjustments in April-May for the Akuma patch, kinda like what NRS are doing for MK1 since launch
I'm assuming the 2024 CPT season doesn't start until EVO Japan and Akuma will drop a week or two before then
-
So far:
- MK1 = 6 charas / year
- T8 = 4 charas / year
- SF6 = 4 charas / year
- GBVSR = 5-6 charas / year
UNI2 likely won't get another 1-2 characters until the next major revision (which depends on whether Melty receives more support or not)
KOF has no news about S3 yet
DNF probably dies after its last planned DLC character
Nothing major is coming to FighterZ
Samsho is done too

Remove the gem system from xTekken and suddenly it's a great fighting game

There been any hints about when we'll get the Ed trailer? I'd think he would be dropping like by the end of this month or something.
Capcom regretting the character choice so much they're not even hinting at his release lmao
Even they know people only want Akuma and couldn't care less about some blonde bitch boxer boy

We really need to talk about the massive issue that Street Fighter has with its generational shifts
Like they had Ryu for first two games.
Then they go back and make Ryu young while introducing the supposed next gen with Sakura who pretty much fangirls over him so much so self-teaches ki manipulation and the basics of ansatsuken.
Then we go into SF3 and they move the timeline like 20 years forward whuoe introducing the next generation with Alex but don't do shit with the guy
Then we go BACKWARDS again to SF4 and they introduce the supposed next generation with Abel but don't actually do shit with the guy
Then we move a little forward with SF5 and we get three "next generation" characters with Rashid (protagonist of the story), Alex (literally appears in story for 5 seconds and doesn't do anything else) and Luke (introduced at the very end of game's life)
And now we have SF6 with Luke taking the backseat role of teaching people martial arts while not really being involved with the story much, that's left up to your player character, Bosch and Li Fen
So who's to say when we reach SF7 Capcom won't try to replace Luke with someone else again?
They're just going back to the good ol bum ass Ryu and the ghost of Bison somewhere in the background waiting to come out the shadows

I'm sure Capcom already has a female version of every male character waiting in the wings. So the best we can hope for is they'll get repurposed for Dimitri's Midnight Bless in a new Darkstalkers game.
Let's not pretend like it's just Capcom
Every fighting game developer has a contingency plan of "people don't like a character - make him a waifu"
-
Shit that's a really good looking Paul, just missing the skyscraper hair

I'd be fine with a guest or two from another FG franchise in 6 if the seasons were larger. At 4 faces a year and the uncertainty of future passes? Nah, each slot is way too valuable and if it's a chara I don't care about personally that's another 3-4 months of waiting for the next roster addition

This Capcom cup is really trying its hardest to make me hate Luke after how much work aleks le put in to make the character likeable and endearing after his shitty SF5 self
At least thankfully they're mostly in loser bracket so they'll eliminate each other, just like all the jps did in lcq
