At this point as much as it would be amazing if they did retrofit DBFZ with rollback....I don't think it's coming.  I think the game as it is now is pretty much what it's set to be both from content and patch.  The game is in an amazing places balance wise right now.  The game was also crazy really successful so for them not to do a Super DBFZ or DBFZ 2 would be ridiculous and that's when we'll get the rollback.  If they go put it in?  Great!  Everyone would be happy for it but I'm not expecting it at this point.

I completely agree, I'm not holding my breath for them to put rollback in anytime soon (if ever), I'm enjoying my time with Melty anyway.  The game is pretty much perfect at what it setout to achive, the gameplay & mechanics, the visuals & interactions.  The ref to the shows, both old and new, like when SSJ Vegeta does a finial flash on Majin Buu and then does the, "I'm going to hell alone..." line, the respect to the material deserves the admin fee alone.

Yeah, there's definatly going to be a follow up.  Personally, I hope it's Dragon Ball Vs another franchise, like Naruto, Bleach, My Hero or even Demon Slayer.  That way you'll have another audience and a fresh bill of characters to draw from.

Say I want my team to be 17, trunks, 21:
    How should I order them?

For me, I would say, Trunks as anchor, 21 on point with assists 21 A, 17 B & Trunks B.  I find that 17 and 21 work a lot better with assists, especially if you want to get the max damage out of them.  Plus they have much better corner carry with beam assists, 21 can pretty much get you from corner to the corner off a 2L starter combo.  If you're better with 17, then you might want change Trunks a A, to help hide your rekka mix ups.  It also depends on your play style, I'm a more defensive player and had many 1 vs 3 comebacks with Trunks.  One of the beautys of DBFZ, eps after the latest patch, pretty much any team works, you just have to taylor it a little to your play style.  Having said all that, I haven't played much recently, after Strive's netcode, it's really hard to go back.  DBFZ with rollback... one day... one day...

I play Gio too, and I can sort of see where you're coming from. But if you want some tips, run sets etc later on (if you change your mind) hit me up here. Sometimes its frustrating because we dont' have the new answers for changes.

Thanks for the offer, I might take you on it, once the salt levels reduce.  What system(s) and time zone are you?  I'm only on PC and in the UK.

    Who do you play?

Also this wasn't a balance patch. We have to come to terms with that.

Gio, with a bit of I-No on the side.  They got some nice buffs, mainly indirectly.  Gio can now punish fireballs a lot easier, without committing to her spiral arrow and comfirming her jH with jD is great.  I-No's 5S is really good now, but she has very low damage and I'm not a fan of diagonal air dash.  Coming from +R I-No, it feels like she's had her legs cut off.

Please bear in mind that I'm an average player, at best, I hang around floors 7-8.  With that being said, if this is Arc Sys's vision for the game, then it's not for me.  I what to fight against the whole of the cast just half and I want lose because I made the wrong choice not to the other character's BS.

Also, some more fuel for my fire:

  5.

For those who don't think that Ram is broken...

(For thoses who don't know, this is a reversal super, that hit about 2/3rds of the screen and is 236236 input, so it can be done from block...)

I've given the new patch about a week to see if I'm OK with it.  The system mechanic changes are great and help to improve the game, but the gap between Sol, Ram, Nargo (lesser extend Leo and May) and the rest, is just too big for me.  So having said that, I'm out, I'm going back to Melty, until this is sorted.

  6. Whoa Roa:

    Also more gameplay footage:

Having watched more of the footage, one of things I've noticed was that the charaters flash red on counter hit and throw.  I like this, it's a bit more subtle than the Strive system.

Marjin Obama has a nice breakdown of the gameplay.  From this it seems moondrive is like a PRC and blood heat is more like sparking blast but with burst elements.

  7.

    More match footage.

The more I see of this game, the more I'm hyped for it.  Everyone seems crazy, but you seem to get at least 2 "bursts" a round which means it kind of cancel it out a bit.  Ciel reminds me of Linne, Arcuied of Wagnar and Kohaku just looks nuts.  So these will be first for me try out.  The movement speed looks similar to Under Night.

  8. This is a day one purchase for me.  If the mechanics and gameplay are anything like Under Night, then it should be worth the asking price.  Even just to do the single player stuff.

Really hope that they've had a nice word with Arc Sys about the netcode though.  I'm not too fussed about the colour customisation, but it's a nice thing to have.  I hope the player base is big enough to get some games in every week.

  9. Run momentum:

I've been playing Gio.  So after playing her/Stive for 5 mins, I've found that she doesn't have many options like most of the cast.  But, what she does have is very good, plus on blocks moves, multi hitting normals for hit comfirms and easy combos.  If you're new to GG I would recommend her, she allows you concentrate more on the core mechanics.  I think ASW have done a good job with her.

Anyway, my initail thoughts on the game is, it's not +R, but it is Guilty Gear and I'm really enjoying it so far.

So what characters are you fine people planning to learn ?

I will be going for I-No and Millia.

I'll be starting off with I-No as I've mostly been playing her in +R.  I've also been learning a bit of Ky on the side, so I'll be giving him a try as well.  Also Gio looks like fun and I'm side eyeing Zato.  But I'm going to have wait until Friday to see how everyone feels...

(Everyone will be pushed aside when Dizzy appears though.)

Yeah we had a real good back and forth going.

I appreciate the compliment but I think my pressure still sucks haha. I'm still really getting the feeling of what +R pressure feels like. Some tumblers are ticking into place but I still have a long way to go especially with someone like HoS who needs to bulldog. You did a great job of dancing all around and forcing me to chase, then hitting me with a guitar.

With the Strive beta going live today I do want to dip into that for a bit while its live (from this evening until Sunday morning, barring any hiccups/extensions). After that though I'm back on +R full time. Depending on how Sunday goes I may be around sometime then for games.

Don't put yourself down too much, I'm the British one here.  You kept pushing me to the corner and mixing up your options, so you were making it hard for me to read you and know when to use 6P to get out of pressure.  Thanks, after player DBFZ for a while, you have to develop a good sense of movment and being able to escape the corner.  I need to work on my pressure and mix-ups though.  I'm still smashing my plam on the buttons at the minute to get combs out, but some are starting full in to place.  I also need to learn FRC combos in order increase I-No's damage output.

No worries for not being around for more games, at the end of the day, I'm just a ramdon bloke off the internet.  Plus, if I had access to the beta, I would be doing the same.  I've been watching plenty of streams and youtube vids of Stive so I don't feel totally left out.  I should be about on Sunday, but I'm having my first covid jab today, so I might feel pretty crap tomorrow.  I'll let you know.

I-No is looking pretty similar to her Xrd version in beta, so I'm hoping it's not going to be a huge jump from +R to Srive.
