  1. Mad at myself, I completely forgot free comic book day was this weekend and spent the whole time doing house chores and catching up on anime.

It was raining a lot but in the afternoons on both Sat and Sun there were spots I could have made a run and grabbed a few books. Hope they still keep some for this upcoming weekend.

  2. I love the Peter Parker character but honestly his main books are rarely above average at least during the last few decades. You might get a fire story arc here or there or great concepts but the most consistently good run was Doc Ock joy riding in his body. Which is crazy because we have seen multiple runs on Ultimate Spiderman now do the character much better.

Yea thats a failure of the director/art director. They failed to make sure there was any level of cohesion between all the guests artists. Yoy can have gueat artists while still maintaining your overall artistic cohesion. DMC3 had Kaneko design its DTs and while they do stand out against the rest of the Demons in the game they still manage to fit in over all with the games looks and style and color choices.

But even without that I think a lot of the Blade designs are really bad. Even if they where in a game with cohesive art design I would still think a lot of them suck.

I think all of that was hilariously accidental. They were thinking getting multiple artist to contribute would help speed up the process trying to hit the Switch launch year, which they did getting it out by December that year, without realizing they didn't give enough instructions leading to what they got.

Personally I love it, while some indeed look like ass and you have a major character that is basically just the artist redrawing one of their favorite Final Fantasy characters, it is an interesting visual. Plus anything is better than what we got with the Xenoblade Chronicles X models.

Separating Storm and T’Challa is the best thing they’ve done for both characters.

I agree but I do hate the way the break up was done.

Which outside a few story arcs unfortunately was a lot of their relationship for me. But that is modern Superhero comics.

If this was 2021-22, they would have probably been gobbled up by someone. However with the current state of the industry, everyone sans Nintendo seems to be laying off developers, I'm not sure. Most companies seem to be trying to hold together what they already have.

You are right, their properties might be worthwhile but taking all the developers may not be that attractive.

I could see Nintendo buying them only because they have worked with them before on multiple projects and I think co own the Fatal Frame IP. The only publisher from Japan I could see as being interested in their IP and development teams equally would be a smaller but growing publisher like Arc Systems. Owning the Ninja Gaiden franchise would fit their current portfolio of classic IP, plus it would give them access to teams that have more experience in other genres not just action or fighting games.

  6. It will be a shame but I don't know if Koei Tecmo will last into the next generation. Outside of contract work and Dynasty Warriors/Warriors spinoffs I can't think of a recent successful game.

Atlus was the same way and wound up getting gobbled up by Sega. I wonder if there is any company that values KT properties or development enough to take them on?

  7. As a kid I found out Forge and Storm were in a relationship reading a comic book... For some reason I never forgave the character of Forge and have disliked every incarnation of him in every media.

I say that to say I still hope the new X Force run is good. It's premise sounds like it could be fun.

That's cuz P.N.03 was more a proof of concept then a game imo. I honestly don't think that thing was finished.

It definitely felt like they were trying for something but got told to wrap a bow on it before the concept or game was fully formed.

It was the first game of the Capcom 5 that actually were released for the GameCube and the most forgotten.

Dan Slott became a MAJOR POS once he got on Amazing Spider-Man to the point that I pretty much avoided anything with his name on it from then on. With that said, is his Spider-Verse stuff good?

    -----

Damn I am like three episodes behind everyone in '97 but I will try to catch up this weekend.

The first Spider Verse is ok, most of the good comes from the characters the plot is kind of meh. Spider Geddon is better but also written by someone else.

Have not read the last one that I think Slott did. The End of Spider Verse or something like that.

This was another instance of Dan Slott being an insufferable cunt by systematically trying to undo everything Hickman did with the F4.

Same with why Doom “had to” become a villain again after Bendis’ Infamous Iron Man run.

I used to love Dan Slott, but once he got on the flagship books he got so meh, outside of Spider Verse and the Superior Spider-Man sagas. And Spider Verse mostly gets the pass because of the guest stars/cameos/Easter eggs then later the movies.

Well a lot of people also don’t realize that the Starship Troopers movie is making fun of that as well so take that as you will.

Yeah, it is the same stuff with the first RoboCop, which is the same director. Funny how HD2 and the RoboCop Rogue City game came out so close to one another.

  12. Didn't realize you needed Pokemon transporter downloaded to move Pokemon from the older game to the Pokemon Box to move them to Pokemon Home... Sould have downloaded that shit last year when I had the chance found my version of Pokemon White I used back in the day (at launch I was playing it and SSF4 for months) still worked and I caught like 300 Pokemon.

A discussion, in the wake of Stellar Blade I assume,  spiraling how those BB two characters have awful designs, plus that they are under 18 but

some say their ages are never revealed.

One of the critics defends the design of Angel from KOF because unlike Makoto and Mai, Angel is cool because she's a
"unironic killer". I don't know what that means, I don't know the KOF lore.

A date is thrown (a date that should not be named) regarding Bridget; The day he was born or decided to identify as a trans woman, not sure.
And mainly people being thankful BB is small so that the publisher won't feel shamed and pressured into modifying the characters' designs.

I do feel with age I want my female characters to wear more. Love Dolores in KOF XV but y do think the excessive skin is too much.

That being said I love the characters like Makoto and Angel because they are fun both in personality traits and the way they play. Although BlazBlue is a dormant franchise so why they bringing it in on this seems unnecessary. Besides  game characters especially fighting games (not named Virtua Fighter) are meant to be outlandish designs.

  14. I mean it comes down to two things.

1st. Synergy. X Men 97 is massively different from Krakoa and comic editors/executives are always seeking to feed on that synergy even if it doesn't work.

The 2nd. Brev is a old blood. Not sure why he is being given this gig besides he has already did the cycle on every other major comic group. He isn't about pushing boundaries, he will let writers do that within a simple status quo but he really doesn't want to handle a wider universe or effect it.

All this means... It might be good but the majority is probably retreading familiar ground.
