  1. Being in New England is like I'm still in Canada but with somehow even more French people
  2. The input delay and holding down buttons thing was specifically in the older titles. I can't really speak on many other titles besides the one's I played, but I really doubt they would release KOF15 with the input delay lol. Now the overlapping inputs... idk lol
  3. I'm talking esports. Like how everything is done now with SFV and the CPT. I think that level of success could have been reached 5 years earlier with Mvc3. Sure, the game was well-received but the playerbase and viewership numbers were still minuscule compared to any other competitive game at the time that wasn't a fighting game. I felt the competitive side of the game could have had broader appeal with the masses if it was marketed a bit differently. I get the issues with licensing and how that may have hindered any real plan to make mvc3 a bigger game but I think it's a bit disingenuous to say it did as well as any other esport. The eternal struggle of fighting games. sigh I suppose what I mean by it being "ahead of it's time" is the fact that it was relatively popular as spectator game alone. I think the way mvc3 was fast, exciting and super interesting while also easily understandable compared to other games at the time (sf4 lol) was what made it have real potential to be a major esports title. Brand recognition plays a role in it as well. I think they really missed the boat on something really big with MVC3.
  4. Imagining Storm going haw haw haw at like shoulder height of a sentinel lololol
  5. Marvel vs Capcom 3 was ahead of it's time, I think it really could have been a killer eatsports title if Capcom had played their cards right. Maybe Riot saw that potential and that's why they are going team fighter?
  6. A marvel game without vertical scroll would make it too honest and that's just not the mahvel way lol
  7. Project L... that name is just setting itself up lol
  8. I'm assuming most of you are American based on this discussion. How has poutine not taken off in the great U S and A? It's like everything in a stereo-typically American diet put into one dish. Gravy, potatoes, cheese, meat. Or maybe it has and I'm blind.
  9. I have so many questions about KOF15... but I can't play it right now to test things out. sadface. I always had this weird way of distinguishing between different KOFs as being clunky or not clunky, which I'm sure doesn't really make sense but once you look into some weird nuances of the previous games, maybe it makes sense. For example, 2002 has a 4 frame input "delay" on all normals which basically means you have to do everything early a lot of the time. Furthermore, there was a buffer in 2002 where sometimes instead of simply pressing a button you would hold it down during certain inputs to make it easier. To play 2002 optimally, I feel it can be clunky at times but it is still a great game with lots to learn. Compare this to a game like KOF12, it's much simpler and I would call it not clunky but extremely simplified to the point that maybe some would consider it a wawa baby game compared to the other entries. It basically had game mechanics designed to remove the technical aspects that most KOF games had built a legacy upon in favor of catering to newer players. Examples, the clash system and the critical counter (basically custom combo that gets activated on counterhit and with full CC meter) game mechanics. Clashes happened when attacks of equal strength hit at the same time and caused both characters to backdash (hop? can't remember, been too long) away from eachother. The stupid part about this system was that you could clash with projectiles, your character would dash away, you could cancel that dash into a forward dash and basically nullify a lot of zoning styles. Not clunky but definitely one of the worst modern KOF titles if you ask the dudes that actually play these games for real. KOF14 seemed pretty straight forward to play. I wish I would have spent more time with it but games like SFV took a lot of attention away from it I think for it to garner any serious attention. I'm not a huge KOF / SNK fan but I hope the new game builds upon KOF14 well enough, just as a casual player looking in.
  10. That's so cool! My wife and I are looking into potentially getting some cabinets and pinball machines for our home, similar to what I saw in your pictures. Thanks for the links! We really like the Metallica pinball machine (so much so that we signed our wedding papers on one of them... we got married in an arcade lol) and even though it looks like a journey, it seems like a fun thing to get into. Looks like pinballs.com even has some cabinets, and they aren't too far away from where I stay. This is dangerous 😅
  11. Do you need ps plus to play the beta? It says in the store description you don't need it but I've heard some people aren't able to get into the game without a "buy Playstation plus" prompt.
  12. Enes Kanter definitely going to need to be put in witness protection after his basketball career is over... pretty sure he is being watched everywhere he goes and not because he is a celebrity. Turkey has an extradition request on him, China has stopped streaming any games with him in them altogether, the Indonesian government was trying to hunt him down at one point. He was supposed to come play against Toronto one year and wouldn't even travel from the US to Canada. An ally of the US that works with the FBI and other US government agencies all the time. That's next level.
  13. Free Travis Scott... in Fortnite. I paid money for that =( (I actually have no idea if they removed him completely from the game, but I hope not. I will gladly boot up the game again to get litty with Naruto)
  14. Waiting for the day that a 5v5 Gief vs Tony Hawk sf4 team battle comes true... the absolute madmen, the unstoppable forces vs the immovable objects, it would truly be the best thing to happen in Sports Entertainment.
  15. Idk why, but the dry fit leggings that Luke wears underneath his shorts look like rubber in SFV gameplay
  16. Turns out it is not real, sad face https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/krispy-kreme-lube/
  17. I see a section here about tournament organizers being able to disallow certain stages for CPT events at their discretion, but it doesn't rely imply that's it is tournament standard to use only the grid. I would assume CPT ruleset would be the standard cause eatsports. I will just assume it's a preference at this point, even though there is anecdotal evidence that it doesn't really matter, some connections will drop to 55 frames or worse online no matter what. There was some LinkedIn profile going around saying that it was one guy who made the netcode for SFV. This was maybe 4 years ago so I have no idea how legit it was.
  18. Is this online tournament standard or just in general when using PS4?
  19. I know the guy lives in a really random spot in Canada, but I only ever saw him once irl at any event and it was the last year Canada Cup was a thing and iirc, he got a bunch of his stuff stolen =(
  20. Has there actually been any proof that playing on the grid makes it less laggy? I was under the impression that it just hides the lag since there is nothing animated in the background.
  21. What conversation had to happen in that executive meeting to come up with hole glaze lube hmm
  22. That Ghostrider bike super where he goes "HONEY GLAZE RIDES AGAIN" was too ridiculous. I miss playing it but I've been really focusing on mvc2 again since more people I know are playing. Rocket Raccoon was cheap as hell and really hard to deal. I played at a local tourney for mvci and got 3rd with Rat/Haggar, so grimey, so cheap, I beat this one Zero/Dante player (he was actually pretty good, better than me) with it by smacking him with Haggar pipe and lariat and then running the stupid cheap oki mixup. I felt like a scumbag lol
  23. As the old saying goes, "There's no honor in this shit!" I'm not sure if Gio is really that good but she seems like she is just one big change away from being an annoying top tier like Cammy or something.
