    It's a Jujutsu Kaisen reference.
     
    Characters basically have the ability to create a pocket dimension around themselves that alters reality with their...let's call it a Stand-like ability.
     
    That's basically what SGS is here.  Akuma isn't sending you to hell.  He's sending you to the thousand punches dimension.

    No demons involved, it doesn't do more damage for accumulated sins. It doesn't even implant ki into the body to make it explode like JP.

    Of course, as I mentioned numerous times the design concept has been borrowed from the manga

    I noticed that the parable that Udon had translated was a bit wonky and out of order.
     
    We all know that Capcom decides to transiterate it as "Die One Thousand Deaths" but Udon tried to be more faithful to what was being written.

    For anyone that watched Street Fighter Assasin's Fist. Akuma's level two is essentially what Goutetsu hits him during their fight. A devastating palm strike that sends a surge of ki through his opponents torso. Basically an SnH verison of Gouken's Senkugoshoha (Palm Strike).

    There is something look visually good in the new SGS
     
    I like the new backward teleport stance
     
    Not a fan that every shoto still has the same vanila tatsu in SF6... SF5 did better
