  1. She wasn't tricked, she wrote a chapter in a book without fully understanding the material she was writing about. and Briahna Joy Gray responded. She asked to help start a discussion from a commonplace and Mandel failed at doing so.
  2. Dodge made a vehicle that knew what it was and leaned all the way into it.
  3. The brother does make a few good points, but most of the arguments comes from a lack of understanding. Then Fauci and Co. trivialize the discussion. This seems to be a large part of what the entire perception of the pandemic was: two camps that don't understand how to talk to one another. The thread is even more intellectually vapid.
  4. I see the sentiment, but she wrote an entire chapter in a book defining it. Sure, it may be nuanced but the host asking for her definition is a simple question, not a trap. Surely if she did a PowerPoint, she'd have three bullets ready to go. Perhaps, but people not being educated on the proper definition of a subject isn't a shoe-in for this is the new boss. In that same vein people often misuse the term socialism and port it to communism.
  5. No she wasn't. Nor did she disrespect the guest or co-host. This is how you have a genuine discussion without being a clown.
  6. How was she baited? Interviewer: "Would you mind defining woke because it's come up a couple times and I want to be sure we are on the same page" Bethany: WORDS She set up an honest condition to have a discussion. This is not baiting.
  7. Y'all remember that author's who's response to defining "woke" left her stuttering . . . Yes. . . it's very real 🤣 https://www.newsweek.com/define-woke-bethany-mandel-conservative-book-1788538
  8. Lance gave us one of the best sketches on Funny or Die. He took the strangest material and gave it serious weight
  9. Probably not. I wouldn't be surprised that his "likeness" can be used for the property. Now if those agreements aren't in place, they likely will. Not quite the same, but it's similar to how James Earl Jones has contractually allowed Disney to use his voice despite being retired.
  10. The "forced down" language requires a stretch in validity. I agree, this looks like someone was texting and flying and clipped it's wings. Makes it seem like it was shot down but was moreso a force of gravity and principles of physics that brought it down.
  11. For the purpose of this conversation sex = gender. Transformers don't (explicitly) need sexual dimorphism and gender has no regard in reproducing. It's not hugely prescriptive to the rules except that's just how it is. https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Female_Transformer That said, they are one gender and stay there. . . with one exception https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Arcee_(G1)/2005_IDW_continuity There was an entire episode dedicated to femmebot team in G1 (which includes @Darc_Requiemacknowledged character Elita One). You also have the character Airrazor in Beast Wars. She's getting the live action treatment in the next movie (voiced by Michelle Yeoh). A few more that are getting more visibility are: Windblade Slipstream started as a clone of (Animated) Starscream from that embraced his feminine side. In most other properties since, she has been her own character.
  12. Condolences to you and your family @Hecatom She wasn't nominated. Honestly I feel that they lobbied Curtis moreso than Hsu likely on age and time in the game. This is her first Oscar. Granted, I agree that Hsu was a faaaaaaar more impactful role and did a hell of a job in the movie.
  13. EEaaO cleaned house . . . and earned it. Seven out of 11 nominations (including Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Actress in a Lead Role and Best Picture). Man, his speech got a tear rolling (and I haven't even seen the movie).
  14. My wife and I watched Everything, Everywhere, All at Once earlier this evening. Easily one of my favorite films of last year. The message and the eccentricity made it an art film with relatable characters and easily one of the best multi-verse movies ever made.
  15. I think to @Sonichumanpoint, it'll likely become a minefield of stupid and then it'll roll itself back. I agree with you though that with all the world records, we know better. There is also a HUGE amount of data explaining the sexual dimorphism in homo-sapiens. Can't be all for science in one aspect and have cognitive dissonance in another.
  16. Those pics are altered to hell. Here's a clip of him on the red carpet from that same night.
  17. I have a My Little Pony X Optimus Prime figure so the Megatron would work perfectly.
  18. This screams the Bishoujo line and then saw the logo in the corner. They did one for Prime, Megatron and Bumblebee.
  19. Being from SC and working in the law enforcement space . . . this case was a pretty big deal.
  20. The "incidents like this warrant more police" statement sounds more like a good soundbite than a solution.
  21. She's really a national treasure. Her program providing books to children in NC is a wonderful public service. My wife actually got to meet her a few years back at an event. She also sang the song live. She still can hold a tune.
