I didn't come into his life until he was 15-16, but the previous father figures in his life either left to return back home (his biological dad moved back to Costa Rica, where he still lives, and his second stepfather was mentally abusive towards him and my wife). He's not really active in his son's life either, despite urgings from both his son's mother and with us; so he spends all his time taking care of his wife's 4 kids and 1 grandchild. I wouldn't change a thing I've done to help raise him back in the day, with the exceptions of friends he met who subsequently got him into meth. Those friends would never have been around, but I didn't know at the time

The OnePlus Pad is supposed to be really good, if what I have heard is accurate. Only bad thing I can immediately see is that they're using the charging tech from Oppo/BBK sub-branded phones; which only works as advertised if you spend the extra money on their charger plus that hideous orange/red cord! $500 bucks is a little much though for 8gb RAM/128gb of storage in a tablet form factor, at least to me it is.

Falcom Shop / Ys Memoire -The Oath of Fergana- I fucking hope NIS brings this stateside, this was the game that got me into Falcom titles.

Got another contract for work that goes through the end of July, so of course I plan on celebrating more work by buying more stuff I don't have room for on my shelves!

I fucking hate they're not selling the limited edition of the OST outside of this site, plus 16k yen is a hard pill to swallow (is about $115 USD). I'll probably buy the regular edition from CDJapan, as it's about 1/2 that cost. Also, for our RPG fans out there .... a remaster of Ys: The Oath of Felghana will be out soon on Switch in Japan, so I would not be surprised if NIS brings the remaster stateside later this year/early 2024 and does translation work and gives it an English release.

An update on this, I ended up getting the Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX, this thing is an absolute monster! Granted I have a 75hz refresh rate on my 4K Ultrawide, but I'm looking at actually moving down to 2560x1440 and getting something like a 240hz display at that resolution. I have had zero complaints with it so far (and hopefully I can get the new monitor purchased before Quakecon).

Rare double post from me, but Gamestop has a B1G1 sale running right now, with a lot of first party Nintendo stuff eligible. I didn't personally take advantage of this, but I did use the monthly reward benefit I get from being a Pro member to snag Octopath II & the Tactics Ogre remake for $75 shipped. I didn't put this in the Switch thread, because there's some PS5 and XBox games on this list as well.

I might look at getting it at the beginning of next month, Playasia is killing my wallet between that and the Pixel remasters for FF. Sorry for not responding sooner, have been super busy with work.

Will hopefully be ordering a new GPU next week. Bad news is that directly through Amazon, they can't keep in-house stock of 7900 XTX cards they sell so fast; so I may end up with a 4080 or even a 4090 due to demand issues with the 7900 XTX. I am going to pay out over time and deduct the cost of it from my taxes for next year.

Been super busy with life in general, to the point where I had to drop the 5k training. Have a couple technology things to brag about though. 1.) We upgraded our router last month from a PoS TP Link one to one of the new Eero Pro 6E models. Seems good after a month of use and outside of a bad cable initially, has been largely fine. The 6E client steering sucks on it though, as my S22 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 6E and it's super inconsistent. It is a nice thing to have though. 2.) Had my Anker earbuds shit the bed. Took them back to Best Buy and bought some Pixel Buds in their place. They may end up being retired though if this replacement earbuds delivery for my Galaxy Buds 2 comes through.

Taxes and stuff like that I believe. I also have no idea if they tax the voucher purchase, at least in Texas anyway. You're basically paying for two 1st party titles ahead of time, and you can have up to like 8 vouchers max. Edit: They do tax the vouchers here. So basically you're saving $20ish bucks by getting the vouchers, at least that's how I looked at it from my POV.

Vouchers for Switch games are back.

The Walmart I went to tonight didn't have any copies of it. At this point, I'm probably just gonna buy it off the eShop when I get paid on Tuesday and not waste my time looking for a physical copy.

It's not anything special tbh, it's basically a MMO version of Fallout with next to no player base.
