  1. KOF character designs for me were always at their best when they were stylish without being too extravagant/anime. It's a style that is really iconic to KOF and really helped distinguish it from a lot of the also-rans. Its a series that is way up there with some of my favorite overall character designs.

Also doesn't hurt that it became the new home franchise for the Fatal Fury crew.

    Absolutely.

I would love to test other games in that situation as well.

If the Anniversary Collection has cross play, I will be up for some games in ST and Alpha 3.

I could try 3S as well, but I am a complete tragedy at it. :yum:

Yeah hopefully it'll have cross play but at this point I'm not holding my breath. SFV is one of the few games that has PC/console cross play (one of the other things that makes it sort of tenacious, I think). Everything else you're lucky to get cross play on the same platform - Windows/Xbox for KI (now with Steam, which is nice), PS4/PS3 for Xrd.

I'd love to see more cross play in general. FGs are already niche; having things further constrained by having games spread across 2/3 platforms just plain sucks. Especially in this modern era where Xbox and PS are pretty much just PCs.

I've been tempted to get a gaming PC just for FGs since that seems to be the unifying platform but I can't justify the outlay (and I've already shilled so hard for SFV on PS4).

I'm gonna pick up the Anniversary Collection too, though I'll have a lot to learn with all those games. I only ever played any of them single player so I don't know shit about playing them against another person. Will be fun to try 3S out though.

I am always up for games, but keep in mind that since I am in the very south part of South America, at best we will be getting a 4 bars connection in SFV and some rollback is expected to happen.

But usually, it tends to be playable.

Its a shame that SFV is the only game with PC/console cross play out of the current crop (give or take a KI since very few people play or even remember that game unfortunately). I'd be really interested in seeing how some of the other games hold up over that distance.

If I get back into T7 I’ll probably just main Josi. Her fighting style looks satisfying to land.

    My man.

    Josie is bae. ❤️

If I ever had the time to dedicate to that game I'd kickbox the fuck out of people with her.

Edit: Also Darc glad to hear that the wrist brace helps.

Double edit: I should be around part of Friday and then most of Saturday if anyone wants to get games in of anything. Looking forward to hoping on after being away for a week.

I'm drowning in work this week but I will try to make time.  What timezone are you in and when do you usually play?

@misterBee I'm EDT.  My play time is all over the place unfortunately.

I usually try to hop on consistently on Mondays and Wednesdays for an hour or so but that usually just ends up being training time since I have classes those evenings (and up to this point all SFV). I'm all for getting games in, just have a more restricted window.

Tuesdays can be good if my wife is busy, similar for Fridays. Weekends are random; I typically either have the early part of the day available or the later part.

Since I'm all over the grid I'm fine with coordinating via @'s, PMs, whatever, to figure out the particulars.

  6. That is another really good point.

I don't know if its the player base, placebo, or what, but I definitely feel like the overall connection quality of SFV has gotten worse over time.

My tinfoil hat theory in general is that CFN adds some level of overhead that made the experience worse after the beta (no accounting for it feeling a little worse  over time though). I always felt like the CoD games got more jittery as they layered on more stat tracking and shit like that so in my crazy little corner of the world SFV may be suffering from the same thing (especially since Capcom seems low tier overall with their netcode).

  7. I've said it elsewhere but the biggest problem for me with SFV's netcode isn't even the quality, its the consistency. When you get someone with a good connection that stays stable, its great. But pretty often in sets the connection will get hiccup-y seemingly out of nowhere.

It makes online irritating sometimes because it means that 5 bar connections are still a bit of a gamble and anything less is guaranteed to be some kind of rollback festival. If they could tighten up the consistency of the netcode, I'd be pretty happy with it.

I've always had good experiences with GG online. Playing OldManRage (MD, USA to Canada) in SFV we would often have bouts of rollback but GG was pretty much rock solid through 20-30 game sets.

Tekken 7, the little bit of it I played online, ran great.

KI had awesome netcode. I rarely had any issues with it playing randos online. This was during Season 2 so things may have changed since then though.

Hey y'all. First time on this forum and in this thread. As somebody that never played Street Fighter too much after Third Strike (And wasn't very good to begin with), I feel like SFV is a game that players need to have planned breaks every now and then because the sense of burnout is strong with this one.

Of course, this is coming from somebody that can only really practice and do couch casuals for around 5 hours a week because of real-life stuff, but for whatever reason I feel... Not a sense of urgency to get back into playing, but a sense of "OK, I'll digest my knowledge for a day or two, then get back into the lab to put in work".

Yeah I'm in a similar boat. I think having limited time to play SFV has actually helped me stick with the game longer. If I had the time to really grind matches I would probably burn out a lot more.

    Also welcome.

I feel so much better about my eating habits now.

    Thank you.

I'm leaning real hard into being on vacation. When I get back home it's back to crock pot meals.

Gachikun trying to knock out Du right now but he is holding on. Just tuned in to the end of Nemo getting bopped.

Edit: Damn I shouldn't have said anything. Du was dufeated.

Pools about to start!? Devon!! @GetTheTables !!

Man do I miss the 3D.

Probably won't get to watch Final Round stuff live but I'll definitely check it out later.

Also how I want Jamaican Ken to join the annals of country character combos like Mexican Akuma.

Ken is one of those characters that to me is like Mika: a lot of fun to watch and even play when things are going well but frustrating when you run into their limitations or really shitty match ups. I will just sit back and cheer those brave players on from the sidelines.

  11. I think their initial goal was 1 char a month. Which means we'll probably get 1 every 2 months. Which is what past seasons were supposed to be but they always slipped. So maybe they finally adhere to last year's schedule?

I am hoping for a faster character release schedule so we can have S4 and Rose this year still.

Amen. Though for me I'd just like to see the characters come out faster so we have a better chance of seeing them in competition. If everyone is out by July/August then people have enough time to really prep to take, say, Sagat to end of the year events. But if or whomever is last comes out in September/October then the only way you're really gonna see them at the big time events is if they are bonkers good on release.

I think if Capcom finishes up early we may also see more story content. It seems like they want to push the storyline further so they may be working on another story chapter. Also sort of fits with their narrative of trying to appeal to the casual crowd more.

If you're good at setplay once the opponent is down, then Ram can be pretty great. I couldn't use her very well at all in neutral though.

Yeah that was what I read about her initially. I'm not usually a big setplay guy but playing Mika/Laura in SFV has made me a bit better at it and I'm willing to learn.

My biggest "concern" with Ram is that I usually like more poke-y characters that do nice big chunks of damage (one of the main reasons I tried Slayer initially) and my rough understanding is that she is the opposite of that. But I also don't have a lot of GG experience so I'm more trying to play whatever characters seem cool at first and then I can make a more informed decision what I really like in this game in terms of play style.

I was interested in Ram at the start, but I would never be good at using her swords installs

I thought the same thing at first, but I've found the swords to not be too bad to work with. Thankfully the controls for them aren't too complicated. The biggest thing initially was that it made mashing hilariously fruitless.

My biggest issue with Ram is that I don't know much with her and haven't found a lot of good resources. Haven't tried looking super hard though. Also JF Daruo is gonna take a lot of practice to get consistent.

I've also played Slayer and May a bit. Slayer was who I was initially gonna stick with so I know a tiny bit more with him, but I'm mostly just fucking around with May.

The day I 10-0 Daigo is the day SRK stops being three places :(

Well then we need to step up your training! You can rebuild what was sundered!

Only if SRK1 can get back a legit forum structure tho.

Also I owe you SFV matches at some point. And a FT50 in UNIEL since you're the only other person I know who has it.
