Coming to this late but just wanted to say that this is some cool stuff Darc. I always wanted to try to really get into writing but just couldn't get the ball rolling . So madd respect for anyone putting (virtual) pen to paper and getting it done. You asked for advice, well you are doing the thing I've seen every published author say someone should do: just sit down and write something. Anything. A lot of people lock themselves up on projects (lots of ways to do it) and never actually produce anything. Just like anything else the only way to get better at something is to put time into it. Looking forward to the eventual release.

Preach brother. The current women wrestling would have destroyed me when I was younger. I watched mostly when it was blond, traditionally sexy women catfighting. Best thing that ever happened back then was Lita. At least in terms of anesthetics. Probably says a lot about match quality/booking that is all I remember.

Completed pre-patch Stormblood. JFC I've dumped so much time into this game since lockdown. It is pretty damn good though.

Considering they already have a character pass lined up and it is #1 of X, I can't imagine popular chars won't pop back up sooner or later (especially the waifus [this includes Johnny]). Just watched the player exhibition. Latest build is looking good. Actually getting excited for a game for the first time in forever.

The women in Strive are so goddam thicc(c). Please note this is the exact opposite of a complaint.

There is definitely something about Mileena that looks off. For me I think its that the monster face doesn't map super well onto the more realistic face model. But that could also be a lighting/angle thing. Anyone know anything about T-800? He seems kinda grappler-y in a way that could be fun but my MK game play instincts are weak.

Not being a dick but: what else do you need? Every game has its warts. Applies to everything, not just FGs. What my time away has reinforced is that the important thing is finding the games where the balance sheet is weighted more towards "things I like" instead of "things that piss me off". Then find some other people to play it with (thankfully places like this exist) and just enjoy slapping each others waifus around like God intended.

I'm keeping an eye on Strive. If the rollback pans out well I may be in. Characters continue to look awesome regardless.

I'm assuming you just need a warm body to make sick clips for Twitter? I can do that. I made Kano look high tier at MK11 launch. Last time I played Alpha 3 it was the PS1 version. I did like the World Tour mode in that or whatever it was called.

After my divorce I swore to never get stuck in another toxic relationship like that again, and I intend to keep that promise. 😉 I would legit be tempted to play folks here though. The thing I liked most about SF5 was the people it let me interact with. That is some devilish shit but I know the feeling. "C'mon back and play man, just pick this character that even his biggest fans sort of hate playing in this game. It'll be fine. Just think of the kara uppercuts!"

@MattatsuI do the same dance every time I watch an SFV video (thankfully they don't show up as much as they used to). Sometimes the siren call of Poison almost gets me to boot up the game then I remember eg. Urien and I do something else. Though the vid that Highland posted the other day/week re: Abigail players was pretty damn great.

They sort of put themselves in a corner with the custom variations idea. Its a fun idea and very "NRS" if that makes sense (plus they've been edging that way for awhile) but at the same time it was very unlikely to be anything other than a "for funsies" feature. Part of the perception of a competitive game is balance and trying to balance all those combinations for any kind of competitive play was probably never in the cards. Especially since as Roofle pointed out in his latest MK11 vid (did he make the migration?) NRS seems to be taking a relatively light touch approach to patching this time around. Though to your point with where the game is at in the zeitgeist maybe it is time to just kick open Pandora's box and see what happens.

The beauty (and existential terror) of the system is that it is a moving window. One day you are the New Generation, next day you look up and you're a crusty ol ST. Life goes on. Good to find someone who asks the right questions. Better play can be taught but no amount of practice will overcome stupid (that is what VTC is for 🙃).

Hades is amazing and SGG is aces. But I love Indivisble and I just read that news and now I wanna chair shot someone. Whiskey isn't helping (or maybe it is?)

@MattatsuAwesome. Pretty much every evening for me is the same (thanks covid) give or take most Thursdays. So just @ or message me here and we can go from there. Also @KingTubbwhenever you pick this game up I still owe you games. For all my best intentions I don't remember if we ever played in anything. I'm starting pretty much from square one again which is fine by me. Last time I played was I think before any of the DLC chars even dropped.

Let's dust off the lounges. Of all the games we ever played somehow we never played MK even though you are such a big fan. 😀 Also we can play a game with good rollback for once. Need to grab Aftermath but other than that I'm caught up. And it'd be nice to get back to it.

I think it is "firsties" syndrome. Like I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Jessica Rabbit making me realize cartoon women could be stupid hot. Some Mileena fans are doubtless attached to her because they had their first awkward monster girl boner due to her (probably specifically that MK9 outfit). Or they like how she plays but let's be real no one actually plays Mileena. 😏

I don't ever care for NRS' guest characters (totally get it but not my thing) Stallone-voiced-Rambo is just dumb enough to maybe clear the hurdle for me. May be enough to get me to dust the game off for the first time in forever. At least MK11 has good netcode. @misterBeecan fuck me up a bunch with Kano again.
