That love Metroid line was an eyebrow raiser for me. I doubt this reviewer has it in them to play through Fusion, Prime 2 and Samus Returns.

I didn't know sequence breaking was a thing til today, like wtf. I'm definitely gonna at least try to do these things on my second run, had no clue you could get things you're not supposed to earlier 

I figured that if these bosses were getting me stressed, journalists would be in shambles, but this is embarrassing. 🤣
 
I straight up wanted to take a break to chill and de-stress a bit because beating all these fuckers back-to-back was taking a toll on my mood, but this game is too good, I can't. 😭

Metroid Dread is probably the most difficult Metroid I've ever played but it's not unreasonable. Checkpoints are like every where, like right outside EMMI zones and boss battles, so even if u lose you can immediately try again, you're never put in an unwinnable battle.
 
Journalists these days suck and basically want no challenge at all, trash ass gamers 🤣

Well damn, I think it may be too late for me too. Still not very intuitive but I think it's set in lol. I still may tinker with the button config it to see if it feels better tho 

Oh right, I just remembered. @HD-ManIirc, it was you that wanted to change the in-game controls.
 
You can change them in the Switch's global controller settings, it's on the options menu. That changes your whole layout tho, but you can have up to 5 presets + Reset to default.
 
Unfortunately, it's too late for me, the muscle memory is already set. Tried it before a boss and my brain got a whole blue screen. 🤣
 
I'd definitely consider changing the beam to a trigger button on the 2nd run tho. Being able to stay mobile with a charged shot is imperative in this game.

God damn, Metroid Dread is so fucking rad. I keep getting flooded with feelings I haven't felt since playing Super Metroid for the first time.
 
I used the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ (the one that looks like a SNES controller but with hand grips and thumb sticks) and I like it way better than the Switch Pro controller for this game. It's easier for me to hit the L and R buttons because of the wider stance I think. Was able to beat Kraid on my third try. 

This game is generous when it comes to save points. They are all over. Extending that function to the map rooms is appreciated

I just met that one, but only briefly.
 
 

This Yellow EMMI is giving me the fucking business.  This asshole has caught me hiding multiple times now and it feels nigh impossible to run from in this area I am.  The moment it sees me my ass is in full clench.

In all seriousness, this is easy to do, but I'm not sure it's super practical.
 
Raw Max Mode (for the damage buff and it seems to affect super scaling) and then land a combo that you can cancel into super and go all the way to the climax. That's... 4 bars and not a lot of time because each super will take a chunk off the Max bar. Would be pretty trivial if you could do it off Quick Max, but...

When on the map screen if you see a white highlight over an area it means there's an item hidden there.

I beat the first boss last night and made it to the second area. It's a little early to tell, but this might be the best Metriod game, rivaling Super Metroid. I haven't felt this way about a Metroid game since playing through SM for the first time when I was 14 years old.  Fusion and Zero Mission were both excellent, but Dread is something special. 

I really hope this games does numbers. I love the attention to detail.

Just like Samus Returns getting 100% in an area unlocks Chozo memories. I got 100% on half the areas and doing them in reverse order.

Speed Booster puzzles are cursed as fuck. I legit despise that power-up.
 
And it's not just on this game, SB puzzles are always like, "catch a charge in this room, drop to the lower level without hitting this mook, store the spark, freeze the mook, wall jump off it, and do a diagonal mid-air ballspark."

Goddamn it's easy to get lost, I only got lost like twice in Fusion, Zero or Super. In Dread, it get lost atleast every 45 minutes. I'm so washed 😂
