  1. They did that last generation too. I can understand why they'd want to show it off. It's the easiest thing to promote when a new gen comes out. Show the older gen games running at high framerate. For people who don't game on PC it's a big deal. If you don't have a gaming PC then being able to play your favorite game at a high framerate is game-changing. It's only boring for people who have a powerful rig and have always been playing games at 60fps, and those people aren't the target market anyway.
  2. I don't really agree. The latest versions of Gundam are faster paced but that doesn't put it in a different genre. Older versions of Gundam are just as slow if not slower than some of the Naruto games and gameplay-wise they are very similar. Some iterations of the series have boost canceling, some of them don't. The basic premise of an empty arena and trying to deplete the opponent's life-bar is still pretty universal. Arena fighters are basically just fighting games that take place in a full 3d space, 3rd person view, and may or may not be team-based with shared HP. You might even argue that modern arena fighters descend from Cyber Sled or Virtual On, which were also pretty similar. The differences between different arena games are like comparing SF and Tekken -- same basic type of game, just a lot of different details in regards to the game systems.
  3. Gundam is definitely an arena fighter. Arena fighters can certainly be more than 1v1. Dissidia NT falls into this category too. I'd argue Gundam actually created the arena fighter genre in the first place when Federation vs Zeon came out a million years ago.
  4. I don't think this is true. Again using Gundam as an example -- the arcade game gets new characters added all the time. Console versions also have a ridiculous amount of DLC in the form of characters, UI skins, announcer voice packs, etc. There is definitely a ton of support there. Bootleg one-off clones might not get support but the big name arena fighters get just as much if not more support than games like Street Fighter or Tekken.
  5. Going arena fighter isn't the 'cheap and easy' route. The reason they make arena fighters is because that game style is more popular. Gundam vs Gundam is easily the most popular competitive game in arcades, and has been for years now. All those anime arena fighters being made are basically trying to be Gundam clones. The traditional 2D/3D fighter is not as popular as it once was. The only reason arena fighters are not as popular in the west is because we no longer have arcades and didn't get as much exposure to that gameplay style. It's also much harder to find enough people to play proper matches at home on console because a lot of arena fighters are team-based games. In the west arena fighters are niche but in Asia they're mainstream.
  6. MK11 is the first one that doesn't feel bad to play. Movement feels much better than older MKs did. That's why I got into it. The graphics are pretty great! Animations still jank though. =[
  7. Mmm that Famitsu cover IS pretty nice. Wonder if I can find a clean version.
  8. Don't need to find sprite rips for MVC1 anymore. I just booted up the game and ripped the sprites myself. THE THINGS I DO FOR YOU PEOPLE. Didn't you know? I'm an 09er. I haven't even been born yet.
  9. I don't like EX games either but this game has TERRY. 🤤
  10. Yeah I've thought about it. What I really want is a wireless AA Deathadder. Deathadder v2 Pro uses a rechargeable battery. 😭
  11. Having a non-animated avatar is the mark of royalty. I'm gonna have to punish Stu for trying to pose as THE KING.
  12. HDDs have filthy moving parts and high failure rates. SSDs are pure and will never betray you. ...of course until the NAND cells start to degrade and the whole drive dies abruptly many years down the line but don't worry about that. 🙂
  13. I turn my back for 5 damn minutes... @M A R T I A N If someone can find me UI/text sprite rips for MVC1 that would be great. What I had to do to make that was stupid. EDIT: Never mind...I went into the game and ripped the sprites myself.
  14. Are people actually playing this game? Should I give it another chance on PC?
  15. I won't be turning on BBCode because it's super old and will soon be patched out of future versions of the forum software. I don't think there are any BBCode features that can't be done with the current text editor anyway. If you want to quote posts from other threads, you can already do that: 1. Click the '+' icon next to the quote button. This is the multi-quote button. 2. A quote will be added to your quote list. You'll see a notification/button in the lower right showing how many quotes you have in your list. Your quote list follows you throughout the entire site. When you're ready to use the quotes you've stored you can go to any thread and hit the button. Your quotes will appear in the text editor for that page. I hope this helps!
  16. They're releasing a manga re-telling the entire Guilty Gear series as well. New chapter every day I think.
  17. I had a G502 for a while and it worked pretty well for me. Ended up giving it to a friend who is using it without issues. Sucks you had such a shitty experience. I'm wireless also -- but I need those AA batteries. Lithium-ion batteries that degrade over a time are a big no-no for me. Currently using Logitech G604. Had a G603 before that and I LOVED IT but the scroll wheel started to act weird. Common issue with G403/G603/G703 models. =/
  18. omg plz stop I create this forum for you guys and this is how you repay me
  19. LOL that twitter account is uhhh...something else.
  20. MK11 is the first Netherrealm game I've spent any real time with. I might consider playing Injustice 2 but it seems like the player base only exists for one Netherrealm game at any given time.
  21. Honestly KOF probably bigger in Latin America than in Japan too...
  22. The Guilty Gear one they announced on the Strive stream the other day.
  23. There is no clear functionality as of now. If a solution comes up I'll let you know.
