360's are actually a lot easier on hitbox imho. Amost every game only requires cardinal directions for a 360, and they usually don't even need to be in order. I just swipe l,d,r with one finger and press attack and up at the same time. Super easy and consistent.
You can also do something like L,R,D, U+button. A guy at my locals does it this way cause it's faster for him
These are nightmares for me. But I suck at 720's on stick too. I can really only do it on wake-up. I just swipe the direction buttons like a madman and mash up and attack 🤣

TKs are about the same for me on stick and hitbox. TKs took less time to learn on stick, but once I got it down on hitbox, it was a lot more consistent.

Hitbox is objectively the most efficient way to play most fighting games imo.

For one, it speeds up your inputs because a button has less distance to travel than a stick for inputs, and it makes things that might require some time in training mode with a stick (like iAd or Suija bubble cancels [stuff like really fast 626 7/8/9+Slash] way easier. The button layout makes it superior to pad for any games that require macros. And because a stick offers a greater range of motion than you really need, it's less efficient and you're more prone to execution mistakes.

The only things I found harder on hitbox were 360/720s but those are made for sticks anyway, and I had trouble with tk motions, but I probably could have trained them and gotten them.

I played on stick and pad for 10+ years each but after I got my hitbox in 2018, it's hard to go back, although I play on joycons a lot these days. I have a couple of nice sticks, and I use them for certain things (shmups for one) but I can't say it enough, once you start using the hitbox, it's like a night and day comparison to other controllers. Ymmv but it really made it possible for me to do a lot of things I couldn't without a degree of difficulty on stick.

Back when I was thinking about getting a hitbox, or keep learning stick or whatever, I thought my ideal controller would be the eight 24mm buttons (to play like Hitbox) but with a D-pad on a handheld something or another for movement. Decided a Hitbox was probably the best compromise and now I prefer the four 24mm movement buttons more than a d-pad.

The only times where I don’t like the Hitbox button config for movement is in menus or non-FG, 2D games, like SOR4. It’s fine and I still prefer using a Hitbox over pad though, it just feels weird.

I do also like having a big controller in my lap. My hands are pretty big and I hated having to grip a controller for a while, though the PS5 controller is much more comfortable to me than the PS4 was (but I’ve heard its D-Pad sucks for FGs)

interesting that +R seems like it may be easier on stick though.

I personally like Hitbox in every meaningful way. I find it more comfortable, more efficient, buttons sound better than a stick (imo), you get to press more buttons (feels better).

I agree that fight sticks look cooler, and some people will always think you’re cheating with a Hitbox, but come look at my win-ratio, I ain’t cheating in nothing

You will if you if want to avoid getting hit. Sun Tzu said:
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.     So turn it up!!!!!!!!!! 🤘

There's two theories on what Megalomaia alludes to. Some say it's because of an album by a Russian band called Aria. I think the most popular take is that it is an allusion to Black Sabbath's song. Personally, I think it's an reference to Black Sabbath; the song is long and then there's three parts with the chorus, I think, that remind me of the 3 different patterns in I-no's Megalomania.

In fairness my noobness doesn't help. My movement would be fuckin' wack regardless of control method.

But there are things that I haven't really built up the HB muscle memory for like half circles - if you ever see HoS can-can dancing its me failing FB Fafnir.

And stuff that would be a no brainer like SJs. Its actually really easy to do mechanically on a HB (SOCD scrubber helps out a lot) but its a very different motion that I still need to get used to and I definitely would be able to knock them out more consistently on stick. Little stuff like that.

    ...oh.

+R is the one game I've played thus far where I feel like it would have been easier on stick. I think its just trying to coordinate all the buttons you need to hit to move the way you want to in that game it still sort of overloads my brain.

There's two reason's I'm a bigger fan of hitbox over pad:

Simultaneous button presses- I just can't do them consistently on pad without macros, and even then, I don't like using my left hand for action buttons, it messes with my mind. Like with Gief's lariet, I just can't do it. Same with throw teching and what not, it's just no beuno for me. Big ol buttons solves that issue in my case.  Blisters and "pad thumb". I don't want to have to reform my calluses if I take a couple weeks off. And before volt talks about the analog stick again, that shit is wack. Happy that you're happy, but it ain't for me

Alright I'm in a better headspace.

I DID apologize even at the start, what I  said was construed as offensive and as a professional in life I should have been more careful, but unfortunately I can't write a good apology anymore in 1400 or less with 3 degrees, and I was in the middle of talking to the BFTG community about where things go moving forward.  I also had to take a call because I have a life.

I was legit baffled when Volt and others were telling me apologizing was making it worse.  Clumsy me, I thought it was real life where you're supposed to apologize when you do something wrong.

Second, this is my first time dealing with anything like this.  This is not something I should have had to stomach, for something I do for no money.

Third, you don't apologize expecting people to accept it.  You apologize because it's the right thing to do.  Regardless of my intent with my analogies, I did it on someone else's dime.

Fourth, Art and I spoke privately and I'll be back soon as long as I keep my head down.  I'm sitting in timeout a wiser man, and donated 50 bucks to my local women's shelter just to at least show my immediate circle if they had any doubts about me that when it comes to  serious matters, I've always known that the fight for dignity is one worth fighting for.

Fifth, I only lost like 30-some followers.  I'll rebuild from this.  My entire FGC career has been driven on the notion that I want to prove people wrong about whatever assumption they have about me over the years when I come in my typical boisterous self.  You can take a look at all of the fanfics people wanted to spread about me as evidence of some of the lumps I've had to take from people who don't have the nerve to say these things to my face.  And when live events do return, all of these people writing fanfics about me won't say a thing to me about it, and if I did approach them and go "hey WTF" they'd just nod their head and go back to talking junk on twitter, so it'd be best if I carried on like I have been with a shrug.

Sixth, I reviewed my old commentary critically and realized that I make analogies way too much anyway.  A year or so ago I made a reference to the then-ongoing Antonio Brown saga during USF4 commentary.  I laughed, because it was funny, but there were at least two things people would've had a fit, so you live and learn.  I was told my Art when I first started calling matches with him that I was quite good at commentary so I see little reason to abandon it entirely.  I behaved well enough doing BFTG at Frosty so it's just a matter of knowing my audience and respecting I'm live.

Seventh, I was told after the fact that people were yelling at me over talking about Jewish stuff.  I apologized for the commentary bit because it hurt people without meaning to, we've all been there.  But I'm not gonna apologize for making pieces of my ilk's history analogies for the deep impact it had by making it a synonym for an unwatchable, unenjoyable, complete affront to one's senses.

There's tons of reason's hitbox is better, including it being sturdier and easier to travel with.

Something about hitbox does scream "dork" to me, and I think an arcade stick just looks cooler.

But i've been a dork for so long, there's nothing that can save me at this point

In one of the Sajam vids he mentions a going theory that the loketest had the beta changes in it and people just didn't really notice because its pretty subtle. We'll know for sure in an day.

Even if Strive is less aerial than previous games its still a GG game and so there is still going to be plenty of aerial shit. Strive is definitely less vertical than something like +R but I think you can tell that they still want the game to have a strong presence of aerial offense.
    I don't.
