  1. I ended up getting him Kirby's epic yarn or whatever, little kings story, and some dogfight/flight sim game. thanks for the recommendations tho! I think my family only used it for wii sports and wii fit. There wasn't anything on the wii that tickled my fancy, so I never spent much time with it. I think the only thing I ever bought and played on it was Skyward Sword
  2. I see where you're coming from, cast a wide net, you'll get a toilet seat, boot, and tire along with all the good fish. It's a catch 22, honestly. FGC is trying to generate interest, cause the amount of people in it is pretty tiny. To put it this way: Lots of FGC people (me included) were really excited that Strive peaked at 30k simultaneous players last week. The only fighting game to ever do better numbers is Dragon Ball Fighterz (44K). But then you look at DOTA 2 and it has 400k, right now, at 8:30 in the morning EST. Are MOBAs communities shitty? From the outside it sure seems like it, but they don't have to worry that their favorite game is going to disappear or stop being supported any time soon like a lot fighting game players do. So you get in the rock and a hard place situation of: Do you cast that wide net, get a huge player base and stay financially healthy Or do you dig in your heels, hope that the people that have been supporting you shill your game so they have some one to play and you make enough cash
  3. In all fairness, I don't follow the game and don't enjoy watching high level smash at all lol. Gimme 4-8 people playing at once, all the items, and like 4-6 beers in my system and that game is a masterpiece. I usually just play ness and PK thunder myself at people the whole time.
  4. Strive sorta killed it for me. I was really only looking forward to it cause I knew the netcode would be really good. But strive's done that in a package that I like more anyway... The only thing that'll rope me into Project L is if it's FTP. I'd just add the caveat of "competitive Smash players" or at least people that think they're better than the "casuals" Cause I'm a smash fan. I'll always buy the new smash brothers game if I can. I love playing it with some homies, my nephew, etc etc. But the vast majority of people that really care about the competitive scene of smash seem to be some mix of this guy: And this legend:
  5. Yooooo These dude's are actually reading every other word lol Quote from the wiki "Kazuya fights using Mishima Style Fighting Karate. In a style similar to Shotokan karate" Kazuya's fighting style is heavily based on Shotokan style of karate."
  6. Yo, this thread is wild. I was kinda kidding about FGC people fighting about what a shoto is, but people legit arguing in there 🤣
  7. Who actually owns the Sora IP? Is is squenix or Disney?
  8. He's an assist trophy so RIP Also an assist trophy. RIPx2
  9. honestly, is there any character that they could put in smash at this point that wouldn't result in a bunch of complaints? The character: couldn't have a sword couldn't be a fighting game character has to be sexy for the hornies, but toned down enough for the SJWs Has to be universally recognizable can't be from a franchise that already has more than two representatives Can't be too weird (RIP tetris block) Can't be too generic
  10. Too bad the FGC and gamers at large are mostly dweebs that like to argue about just about anything lol The shoto thing is cracking me up. Mostly cause smashers don't share a lexicon with the greater FGC anyways, and even then the FGC can't really agree on what a shoto is half the time. FGC: "So a shoto has a fireball, uppercut, and forward moving special move" Smash:"So Terry... isn't a shoto?" FGC: "Exactly, he-" FGC Dos: "Hold up, Terry is totally a shoto" FGC Tres: "No he isn't, he doesn't even wear a gi!" FGC:"*sighs* I'll go grab the charts..."
  11. Yeah homie, you gotta hit up that https://www.nowinstock.net/ Get the app it tells you to, and have it ping you for every store. I eventually got mine from gamestop, but it was a couple months of grinding it out every day. I actually technically nabbed 3, but had to cancel 2. My work computer thinks it's in the middle of nowhere (bout 2 to 2.5 hours away from here) and I secured one at the best buy and the target there for local pick-up only. So I did some catch and release. If you're willing to drive, find a Best Buy or Target in the middle of nowhere and buy it from those stores when they pop up. They get less stock, but waaaaaaay less people are trying to nab one and it's typically a lot easier to get one. My homie did this method and got his secured as soon as the next best buy drop happened.
  12. Pushes up glasses Well actually, they already have one set in a fictional Miami A new vice city game would be sick tho
  13. Hey, that's my exact layout! I might honestly go with this: P S D K H Dash RC. I always feel like the 4th button on kicks is easier to hit with my pinky than the 4th on punches
  14. Hope nintendo announces a new excitebike, wav race, and 1080 snowboarding all in one package dropping today. hire me, nintendo Edit: and tie in pilot wings. Make all my dreams come true
  15. It wasn't too much of a stretch, honestly, but it was a stupid one. Old world hunters invade and colonize the new world while clashing with the old world residents, the grimalkynes. So essentially, the hunters are Spain, the new world is Mexico, and the grimalkynes are Mayans. Like I said, it wasn't like they had to bend over backwards to draw the lines, but it's fucking stupid regardless.
  16. I agree, I was really into EGM growing up. They let you know if the game as polished, which imho is one of the only objective metric you can grade a game by. Or it's 400 words of a scene or a character that the reviewer didn't like because of XYZ message it conveys or political agenda it consciously or unconsciously supports. There was a review that was mostly about how MHW was a "colonialist fantasy" and whether a vegetarian would be ethically compromised if they played it. FOH
  17. A buddy of mine asked me if I was liking GG Strive and said it's "reviewing really well" I told him that there aren't any video game journalists that actually play fighting games, so any review is a waste of time to read. It is good tho... But it got me thinking, video game reviews in general are kind of stupid. Outside of telling me if it works and the general mechanics of the game there's nothing that you can really "grade" about a video game. That's why I like Yahtzee and polygon's method, where they never give their reviews a score. I typically agree with yatzee, but there ain't a single reviewer on staff at polygon that I trust on the other hand. And Yahtzee makes me feel like an incredibly cranky and cynical dude, which I'm not always chasing to be lol
  18. Kinda makes sense this E3 has been a snooze fest. Most studios lost a lot of time and work because of the pandy.
  19. This is wild to me... Especially that FF1 sprite. That PS1 sprite is great, the new one looks super flat in comparison. All of them look really flat compared to the originals...
  20. For your viewing pleasure Sol Hol Horseguy: This might be my magnum opus
  21. Yeah, that's wack. But he was allowed to sell ad space on his banner and shorts back then, so he got a decent check from sponsors. Still...
