Even back then the games felt ugly and a huge letdown for me when I played them.
 
Meanwhile SotN expanded in everything that I loved from the series and still holds today.
This is something we would have to agree to disagree, since is clear you like them, and in my case I don't, not even back then🤷‍♂️

Behexen's last 2 releases feature more low growls, Drudkh I'm not too sure where else to look but they have a bunch of releases with some being higher rasps and some being lows. Behemoth have basically done lows for all their albums apart from like their first 2-3.
 
When you say you don't like the "shrieking" is it more the very high stuff like Cradle of Filth or just the general black metal vox?
 
Maybe Immortal would be up your alley?

Dead Cells---So, I was unaware of the change with the "mimic" enemy.... an update from months ago made it so it can spawn anywhere else in the game, NOT just the Bank area....so yeah I found this out the hard way today.  It was such a good run too... 22 points on Brutality, and it looked like I was going to cruise through to the end, since I had the "tainted flask" passive which is way better now....along with the usual vengeance (one of the top rank passives in the game, imo) and scheme passives.... I was almost done with Caverns and hit one of the shops before heading to fight the Giant... *boom* it turns out to be a goddamn mimic.  That is easily the most dangerous enemy in the game....it's even worse than an elite golem.  It hits you one time for about 90+% of your health, then the 2nd hit will kill you....and it's not just ridiculously strong... it is also faster than you and super agile, so you can't get away from it....one of the only things in this game I'd say is a little too ridiculous against the player, actually.

Dead Cells--- this run is insane right now... too bad I have no chance at the end though, because I'm out of the healing potion charges... but I have 28 points on Tactics right now so the damage is ridiculous.  I began this earlier on break time at work today.... this game has hooked me yet again lately.
 
*well, a scroll fragment popped up after the Giant so that's 29 points...I went straight to Throne room so that was 2 more yellow scrolls there so now I have 31 points.... the multi-nocks Bow now does 67k dps.  These numbers are looking so juicy....but I'll have to be 100% perfect against the final boss since there's no more healing....

There are plenty of black metal bands/singers that use low growls rather than mid/high rasps... I can't think of any off the top of my head lol but they do exist.

only thing i know about Death is that richard christy who worked on the howard stern show was Death's drummer
 
 
if u can find the howard stern interview of nikki sixx from motley crue....rich christy and nikki talks about him being in death/drumming etc.
but its not on youtube anymore. that part. but here christy is drumming. they say hes one of the greatest rock drummers. he does kick ass.
btw nikki sixx treated christy like a joke till he realized who he was (death's drummer) and his expression changed from "what a loser lol" to..."holy shit, this guy is a way better musician than me and my crew" from amusement to respect in a second.

Actually I like Death. I remember when Chuck died too, it was wild reading about that although I hadn't really listened to them at that point yet.
 
I wish the black metal singers sounded more like the death metal ones but I can't take the shrieking. I love the instruments and almost wish some of these bands would just go instrumental because I'd rather have no vocals than annoying ones. It double sucks because some of the black metal songs have really cool lyrics but I can't understand any of them and can't be assed to look them all up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
