I grew up with the 90s one but yeah the original version is pretty good.

3/10/18: Minor theme fixes. Avatar display size has been increased. Avatars are now scaled differently. If you have a rectangular avatar (horizontal), it will no longer be squashed vertically. If your avatar is rectangular (vertical), it will still be squashed down to size. Obviously for best results use a square image. Hopefully these changes will make it easier to see everyone's sick avatars.

The original animated stuff is good, but the manga is the real source material and it's pretty wild. Man, old manga is pretty hardcore. Naked girls everywhere, main characters who are real dicks, and violent in a way you wouldn't expect retro manga to be.

I'm interested in it but I don't want to read the manga because it'll just spoil everything when the inevitable anime adaptation comes around.
