hmm this final level of klonoa is beating my ass. also this story took a turn i was happy at the start now im kinda sad man.

i actually don't think i mind grinding in a jrpg i think i enjoy it in like dragon quest games. i don't even mind random encounters unless it's like the 3rd shadow hearts game where not only is there one every 5 steps every single one feels like im fighting for my god damn life.
 
what really gets me is when i play old stuff that doesn't have maps and everything is a hallway that looks the same cause that shit fucks with my adhd man i might get distracted by something and forget which way i was going a get lost for like an hour.

Yea that boss is definitely the first real wall and I got stuck on it my first time to. That's the first fight that really demands you position yourself well, execute your combos, and have a good team build going or your gonna wipe over and over. That whole dungeon is a wakeup call honestly. I got stuck again later on the Hydra Boss you fight in a poison swamp.

One of my favorite PS2 RPG’s. For me it felt a lot like what Chrono Cross should have been. Not in terms of story or setting but battle system and character recruitment. 
 
I’m still waiting for them to retcon SO3. 
 
SO5 was horrifically bad. It was a glitchy mess and genuinely unstable and could barely run. The combat was also really trash. I had a friend that unfortunately got the $250 limited edition. 😂

re Kingdom Hearts: I’ve mentioned this before but I absolutely use to love Kingdom Hearts. Growing up it was probably in my top 5 favorite gaming series. The only misses they really had for the longest time was 358/2 and ReCoded for DS. Those games were ass. There’s a reason the HD collections made them into visual novel type movies. 
 
But Dream drop distance was when they lost me. The story felt totally unnecessary. The dream eater/nightmare thing was absolutely stupid. The game was heavily promoted with the fact the world end with you characters would be a huge part of the plot and they absolutely weren’t. The combat got waaaaay too floaty and felt erratic and nonsensical. 
 
Ultimately the thing that killed kingdom hearts for me was the big reveal that Xehanort was able to master time travel magic and had been able plotting every main characters coarse from day one. 
 
I don’t want or need a time traveling palpatine in my game where Disney and Square Enix characters fuck. It’s what ruined the entire franchise for me. 
 
It also just kinda snowballed from there. Nomura openly admitting he didn’t remember what characters he introduced or why, why he abandoned certain plot threads, the fact the entire cast had to look at Pepe Silva level cork boards to figure out wtf there characters are even doing because the writing is so fucking dumb and convoluted. The seemingly endless delays of KH3 only for it to be one of the most disappointing games of the PS4/Xbox One generation. Just everything. It’s so dumb.
 
The fan base for the game is even worse. They’re all yaoi shipping weirdos. 

I honestly wasn’t sold on xbc3 until they showed the job classes and hero system. Sign me the fuck up. 
 
Mio and Sena are ridiculously cute. Sena actually reminds me a lot of Nana from God Eater 2
 
On the surface level the expansion pass seems absolutely not worth it but last piece of the dlc included is a “new scenario” and knowing how Nintendo has been this generation with that kind of content i know the expansion pass will end up being worth it. 

Just beat the ps2 Berserk game. The level design is kind of bad but the way Guts controls and swings his sword is really cool, the game doesn't have any deep mechanics but the general flow of slicing your way through monsters and using your tools, like your arm cannon or bombs, feels awesome, it's almost like you can feel the crushing weight of Guts' Dragon Slayer sword. The game really shines in the one on one boss battles thanks to the animations being fantastic and the way the counter system works. The counter system is really simple, literally just hold or press X when a move is incoming, but they feel so good to pull off just to watch the mini cut scene of Guts flipping around like a mad lad. 
 
The levels themselves are kinda bad though and some are really long, I'm sure one took me around an hour plus. Its just run from point a to point b while enemies constantly spawn, and I mean constantly, with not much variety. Enemies give low amounts of experience, ranging from 5 to 100, and considering some upgrades cost around 90,000 it's a bit daunting at first until you realise that chaining kills nets you larger exp rewards. I can see what they were going for with this game, slowly pressing on to your next location while carving your way through demons, zombies and spirits etc. But I do wish there was little bit more to chew on in the levels because like I said killing shit with Guts feels so awesome. 
 
It's definitely a flawed game but one that I would recommend in a heart beat and I almost feel bad for rating it a 7/10 but I don't think I could rate it higher, it's so close to being something really great and it's a shame that Berserk never really gets it's due when it comes to any other media outside of manga, especially in video games. 
 
Tldr; Berserk ps2 has shit levels but big sword go swoosh!
