My office is closing early tomorrow, so I should be free all afternoon/evening.

It sounds like all 3 of us will be free so we can get a real room going.

    No problem any time.

@VhoziteSorry you don't like the game. I'm not gonna try and convert you, but if you ever want to give it another shot let me know. I promise the combo system is really not that complicated, even if its very different from anything else out there.

I need to go attend to my sister who's waiting downstairs. Sorry to cut it short.

Aganos is indeed big. From what I remember they put a whole new camera zoom in just for him right? Which was later used for the other big bois.

Yeah I'm not anywhere near doing manuals on purpose. I just think it is neat because when I first played this manuals seemed like dark sorcery. Now I totally get it.

    Just to temper some expectations.

KI does in fact have the best netcode of any fighting game, however, the focus on online play was built in to the very design of the game engine and how KI utilizes it. I doubt that level of commitment will be present in strive.

it will doubtless still be a dramatic improvement over the usual Arksys solution though.

Yeah my thought is that just like anything else, rollback implementation can be a sliding scale.

KI is on the upper end of that scale, but as Ve said it was designed totally with that in mind. And the way that game works, if it had any kind of consistent delay/hiccups it would completely fall the fuck apart.

Strive was very clearly pivoted to rollback during development (based on that delicious delay netcode beta) but that doesn't mean that it won't be a solid implementation. Just may not be quite as remarkable as some of the "built into the bones" exemplars. But if we're talking the difference here between A+ and A, for example, that's still great for the player base overall.

Well you have a lot of choices there honestly.

Jago is the obvious one, unbelievably solid in most areas with exceptional normals and midrange presence. Limited Yolo factor though.

Kim has great movement and normals to play a very SFVish neutral. However, she has a resource to manage to really maximize.

Orchid is basically the same story as jago with more of a rush down bent. Her instinct is a lot more swingy than jago also.

Rash is very similar to Orchid actually. He definitely stronger but a less flexible character overall in my opinion.

Arbiter has the same girnormous normals as tusk, but severely lacks in mixups and mobility. In exchange he gets some solid set play (it’s the only time his mixup is actually scary). Also a gun.

Maya also has exceptional midrange and neutral buts it’s very unconventional.

other obvious answers are Mira and Aria because they kind of do everything, you just have to live with their built in drawbacks.

Thunder is also a good choice but his neutral isn’t that devastating. He does have good buttons, and he get paid big time for getting in.

im sure I’m forgetting something. A side effect of the depth of the characters is that there are some I really don’t know very well.

I’d say like 50% of the damage I’ve ever dealt in this game with Nash comes from people reacting poorly to fireballs for no reason like in this clip. All he had to do was block it and Gill only gets a few cute plus frames he probably won’t capitalize on.

I know it’s easy to talk shit as an observer but i have no idea what homie was thinking.

To be fair, the RE2 remake was basically done as well as you could hope.

It use the original as a template, and not some thing to photocopy.

All kinds of stuff is “worked on” to some extent but never makes it far and we never hear about it.

it is possible that the leak simple contains some of that stuff.

Yeah I guess the way Ve puts it is closer to how I feel.

If you could see the whiteboards at any place you'd probably see ideas/pitches/prototypes/slices for everything your heart desires. That is part and parcel of keeping the work flow going.

After many years of watching video games news, I'm at the point of "tell me when I can buy it, thanks". Bonus points if it is actually good. A new entry/revival doesn't do anyone any good if it is shitty. 🙂 (Though in Capcom's case at least they did right by RE2/RE3).

    That was what they said.

They also said it underperformed which is why there has been no onimusha 2 or 3 remaster.

That Blasted Salami has started a serise looking at each character.  They're writtern by Infil and Lemon, short and very useful.

I played KI for a bit when it was announced for EVO online and there were more people playing at a lower level.  Once you get your head around the combo system and the possibilities that come from that, both for offence and defence it's a really fun game.  I'd be happy have some games but I'm guessing you guys are in America?  I'm in the UK, so times and connections will probably be a bit iffy.

My guess is it gets announced at December 2021 Capcom cup, or some other smaller event later in 2021.

I suppose it could be at E3, but given the way E3 is nowadays I kind of doubt it
