    circling back to this ...

I would love to see Xiaomi get picked up by a carrier in the States, just to see OnePlus get some competition again on the lower end of the flagship spectrum. But I honestly don't know if people are ready for the mess that's MIUI.

They aren’t and it won’t happen after the Huawei fiasco. Xiaomi isn’t a bad brand, but its tie in to Chinese surveillance just isn’t something that people are gonna ignore.

In a way this has already happened. I see tons of people out and about in pajamas, raggedy athletic wear, etc. So I'm not surprised the bonnet thing is, well, a thing. I used to see this before covid lockdowns, but the lockdowns definitely accelerated it. It's wild to think at one point in history, everybody would dress like they were going to a wedding just to leave the house.

I feel like in the last year I’ve completely went the opposite way. I got tired of “comfy” and want to look nice when I go out. It definitely helps my self esteem.

In my case is because Windows 11 is a major security risk, not to mention, you as a system administrator don't have a real ownership of it, this was already a problem on windows 10, where some times windows ignored your settings, even if you had an active directory setting to block windows doing whatever it wanted, and windows 11 doubles down on all the bad features of Windows 10, making it impossible for system administrators to block those stuff from, happening.

At least on the tech savy side of users, no one moved because of those reasons.

There is plenty of documentation online and videos on youtube explaining the problems with windows 11 and why was a terrible idea to upgrade to it, at lkeast for a couple of years.

Most companies around the world that use windows stayed on windows 10 because those reasons.

In fact, I even use a personal firewall software just to block all the processes from M$ so they don't force the upgrade on me plus block all the telemetry software so they don't get data from me, you will be surprised at the amount of bandwidth that windows uses on hidden services and programs that are constantly uploading your info.

Windows 11 makes windows 8 look like windows 7

Facts. I cannot play Valorant at all since I switched to Windows 11. It now locks me out because I dual boot to Fedora.

Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature, but camel fucker in Iraq is ok 😂

Totally forgot about that part, but yeah what you tend to have in this movie is a bunch of followers trying to be leaders, because they typically buy what the TV is telling them.

Walter was probably using Chinaman and Charlie and whatever circa the 70s, but in the late 80s/early 90s, the enemy of the week was the Iraqis, so the angst was against them. Especially that era, using slurs was just the course.

Even after 9/11, remember my dad using the camel jockey/sand n****r slurs.

Not saying any of that is ok, but it was definitely a bit of the play on 1984 where the media controls the narrative and allows them to dictate good from evil with your tacit approval.

The fact that chinaman comes up again later in conversation between the Dude and Walter makes me think it was in there as a joke. Dialogue reoccurring in different context happens throughout the entire film. And Lebowski seems like the kind of asshole who wouldn't care to distinguish between different Asian people.

Well, but the dude ends up repeating most everything everyone else says throughout the movie. So it's not really, IMO. It's more that he tries to parrot every one else.

"That rug really tied the room together."

    "This aggression will not stand."

    etc.

But would Lebowski know the difference between Chinese and Korean? Probably not. He doesn't really seem to give a shit about anything but himself throughout the movie.

Walter knowing enough to try to PC it up after serving in Vietnam is actually shocking when it's very clear he has unresolved trauma.  Just felt like the movie tried to flip everything on its head.

  6. Oh yeah worst movie I saw out of Tubi’s Pandora Box: Rollerball, the 2002 one.

Hooooooly fuck it was bad. And not in a redeeming way. Like maybe if I hadn’t had bat AIDS and could’ve been around friends we could’ve riffed on it, but I honestly felt like maybe letting the Rona take me, that’s how joyless that movie is.

I couldn’t even muster the strength to turn off the movie. That’s how bad the combo of that movie and COVID was, it sucked my will to grab the remote.

I only had a mild headache the 1st 2 days and then just a sore throat.

Well, and a hear rate over 90 but below 100, but the doctors kept saying it was normal and nothing to worry 😅

I had a massive fever and I have only twice in my life ran fevers before. It was awful, sinuses, massive cough, joint aches. But somehow I slept really well. I just stayed in front of the TV and let Tubi loop shitty old movies and slept nonstop.

If that's real, holy shit. How do you not get Tyson's approval for a whole goddamn series about him, and actually lie to people to get it made? That was bound to get found out, unless this happens all the time behind the scenes.

Most likely they wanted to paint him in a horrible light thus they never got approval from him or even reached out?

This is the problem with radical leftism. It's disgusting how judgemental and offensive those people have become. Who the fuck are they to judge a performer's appearance? Don't like it? Go the fuck home.

What's ironic is that these same people are ok with men becoming women, but god forbid a white dude with dreads wanting to practice Rastafarian beliefs. 😂

Radical right or left are both scourges. On one side you have a group complaining about woke-ism, and decrying cancel culture while simultaneously trying to cancel people and companies who they deem "woke," and on the other side you have people who take offense at everything and instead of having a discourse about it like a normal fucking human they just try to make the people they're offended at unwelcome in the public lens.

The far left is just as much for creating a groupthink state as the far right.

I ran it just fine on Linux -- what's your setup?

Installing Steam and setting it to use experimental Proton made the game run perfectly.

    Got it working now.

It took me a while. Garuda with the zen kernel was sending back out to kdm the moment I launched it for the longest time; this was on 6.0, 7.0, experimental and GE proton.

Think it was either something with KDE or the zen  kernel or my hardware. Once the 5.17 kernel released, I haven’t had a single issue getting it to run on GE.

Thankfully up until then I have a Windows partition as a contingency plan.
