    I don't see it that way. Once she explained why she did it and told him what she did he was on board. In fact, I think Tory is going to come clean about Terry bribing the ref. Which would endear her to Daniel more. I wonder about Sam though...that's where I see the wedge potentially forming over Terry. She already told Tory that she's basically going to make school life hell.

    If Tory does come clean, I think that’s where I could be wrong. I do think the bulk of the onlookers realized she was fighting clean the whole match and the elbow was accidental contact. But now if she doesn’t also fess up, she’ll never move forward.

     

    I think she may end up going toward the board?

     

    I do see where Sam could end up going down Tory’s path, but I think there’s a chance she started to get that that fight was supposed to get that all out, but who knows?

     

    I’m also looking forward to the Robby arc now that he realized he couldn’t control everything. The fact that he hesitated on Hawk when he could’ve won was a nice move, but is he able to deal with his shit finally?

    I'm hoping Tory and Sam squash their beef next season. I liked the relationship Tory has with Sam's mom. I would like to see that continue. 

     

    Though I can see Tory being even more self destructive in proving herself as her biggest achievement wasn't an earned victory.

    Tory’s involvement with Amanda drives a wedge between Daniel and Amanda. They’ve already been on such shaky ground since the first season once Daniel started going after Johnny. I sincerely thought they may split in Season 3 after the school fight and I still feel like they’re preparing to make that happen.

     

    And you don’t think Kreese would prey on Amanda to do just that by mentioning Tory’s situation to her? Obviously he didn’t know Amanda’s background but he definitely knew she’d have more empathy than Daniel.

    I had a half day and binged through the whole day.

    Just felt like that was the only direction that made sense given a Season 5 was coming.

     

    Definitely the best season so far. The action sequences were just 10/10 the whole season.

    Silver getting Stingray to frame Kreese. Nor was I really prepared for Miguel taking off to Mexico City after his dad, but they were definitely setting up for it with his talk with Daniel.

    I was bored mostly with this beta roster. Isla is really good but wasn’t super fun for me. Blue Mary was prob my favourite out of the bunch to run, but probably not bothering with her past the beta.

     

    But I still played for as long as I could, and honestly the netcode was better than the first beta. Seems like they’re actually really taking in feedback and making things better.

     

    I think this is gonna be a great release.

    I do have a Steam Deck on preorder, so I'll be gaming on Linux in some sense soon enough anyway.

    Steam Deck is based, and a large part of the reason why Proton development is moving so fast at the present. I mean it was looking good overall even last year, but the speed of which things are fixed right now is pretty stunning. MBTL had some early issues that needed a custom version to work and within a week Valve had an official version working with it. Not bad for even such a niche title.

    When we went thru Beijing on the way to Japan, they tore apart our luggage, and this poor girl in our tour group got yanked aside because she'd brought a pair of fuzzy handcuffs and they were grilling her about why she had handcuffs with her. 

    Not really. You just don't talk to people that can throw you in jail in China like that. Lie if you have to, play back on your heels, but never get confrontational. They know they have the power of the CCP behind them to trump up whatever charges, put them through, put you in a kangaroo court, and send you away until they can use you for a bargaining chip from your government.

     

    I was tired, in pain, and angry, and that kinda of mixes into sheer stupidity which thankfully resolved with dumb luck that he knew he had nothing he could hold me for, that he was just trying to scare the shit out of me, and realized he sufficiently did so.

    That country is wild. I was there once and flying into Beijing felt like flying into a Hollywood movie set. The buildings all looked fake. 

    So here we go, my China story:

     

    I got my passport in 2008, had the photos taken at a CVS for it. Figured that was the best place to get it done where I lived. Also, I was living in a small town, that was one of only two places to get it done, the other being the post office. In hindsight, I should've gotten them done at the post office. This may sound inconsequential, but comes back to bite me later.

     

    In 2011, I crossed into China the first time with my psychotic ex. She was let through perfectly fine, but they flagged me for further inspection, never explained why. I sat there about 15 minutes with zero explanation, finally a customs agent comes back to me, hands me my passport and says I'm free to go. Never an explanation.

     

    I stayed there almost exactly five years, and had like 6 or 7 Chinese visas in that passport. In early 2015 I decided it was time to get out of China, and found a job in Korea. Even went to the Korean consulate in Qingdao to get my Korean visa finalized and in my passport. In all of these times of getting visas put in, nothing ever came up on my passport. Korean consulate had my visa done within 2 days as I was told and had me come back to get it, no sweat.

     

    End of June, I'm flying to Seoul. I go through immigration to do my exit procedure, which is always a headache. Nearly everywhere else in the world you just show your passport and you're done (if you have to do that at all, really depends on the country). In China, you have to fill out an exit card, declaring various things before you can leave. Bear in mind this was a day where my body decided a migraine would be a nice topping on a urinal cake.

     

    Get up to immigration, and they just keep staring back at my passport, and back at me at least 5 times. Then they call someone over. And this guy says "This your passport?" I nod. He then pulls me in close, and starts pointing to my passport photo. I say, "Yeah, that's me." And he goes, "No," and then starts pointing off to the side of my photo...

     

    ...where the dumbass CVS employee had not shot the photo properly and there was a shadow behind me in the photo.

     

    "This fake," he says and takes me to a back room.

     

    I'm in there for 30 minutes, my flight is supposed to take off in 45.

     

    He keeps talking on the phone in Chinese. When I first came, I didn't speak a word of it. But now I did, and could hear the words "Fake passport" and "Illegal immigrant" being said.

     

    The fuck? All this time I've been taking this passport to the immigration offices in Qingdao to renew my visas, not once has this been a problem. Now suddenly they're claiming I'm illegal.

     

    He sat there a good long while inspecting every page of my passport and pulling stuff up on the computer. I'm freaking out. Not only could I miss my flight to Korea, where I would MUCH rather be, but I may be in a gulag if this keeps up.

     

    Then I did what is honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever done. I stood up, and said, "Look, I can tell you every piece of info in that passport. I know every detail of it, I've had 6 visas issued here in Qingdao, one in Chicago, and one issued here for Korea, where I'm trying to go and I may miss my flight because of your witch hunt. I'm tired, I packed all night, and now I have a headache that you're making worse. Let me catch my flight and you'll never see me again."

     

    And somehow it worked. He just laughed at me, tosses me my passport and my boarding pass, and tells me to have a nice flight.

     

    What kind of bullshit was that? Some kind of fear mongering scare tactic?

     

    I get out of there to find out my flight was delayed, because most likely it was codesharing with China Eastern.

     

    But yeah, after the two Michaels incident in 2018, I realized how fucking lucky I actually was that I was able to get out.

     

    And I've kept to my word. I haven't been back to China since, and really, don't see the point of ever doing, short of the CCP falling.
