Just want to remind everyone of the Shenmue re-release. 2 of the best experiences one could ever have, all in 1 package (AND YOU GET A POSTER TOO!).
 

Luckily practically everything I own is above the waterline.  Just a couple backpacks and their contents got wet.  All the rugs were ruined though.  It's gonna be a real struggle cleaning them up.
 
Flash flooding in Brooklyn yesterday.  Storm drains couldn't handle it and water rose up from the storm drain outside my front door / the drain in my shower stall.  Came back home and spent hours pouring the water out / mopping everything with bleach with the sister.  I'm exhausted.  Thank god I don't have any furniture that sits directly on the floor.
 
I like a clean home .  Couldn't even sleep until I got everything disinfected and dry.

BTW I've never actually played Shenmue. Love Yakuza though. So that counts right? 

yeah, it looks like they finally did a *slight* upgrade from the PS2-caliber graphics... so that definitely interests me.  I still have fond memories of EDF2017 on the 360 from way back... sheeeeit, that was over 10 years ago at this point.  I also had 2025 and "Insect Armageddon", which actually did have better graphics than the rest of them...but less stages/missions.

The games have aged really well, but the one thing i'm concerned about is that new people will dive into it thinking it's some older version of a yakuza game (or something like that) while in actuality Shenmue is a slow burn, with no instant gratification (which is also the beauty of it). The more you spend playing it the more you'll get back in the end.

I'll play Shenmue 1/2 when the HD remakes come out.  Hopefully they haven't aged too badly...

that reminds me--- I really don't like auto-scaling enemies in any rpgs... I mentioned earlier not liking the turn-based stuff but that silliness is something that creeps into the action-RPGs too.  It's annoying because it takes away from the "power fantasy"...the idea of starting off as a regular warrior or mage or whatever, or perhaps even some random chump... but eventually becoming godlike powerful.  There's no sense of progression or character evolution if the enemies are always stronger than you no matter what.  If I was programming it, I'd design things so that's either only the last boss or 2...or it's relegated to a higher difficulty mode. 
 
3DS vs. PS Vita-- yeah, I'll take Vita any day of the week....at least in my mind that is not even a close battle.  The so-called "classic" Frogger was always lame.  It's strange to see that game continue to get remade and appearing on countless systems over the years.
