The way I see it, this issue that you have is exactly what makes this fun to me. Not having any control until you romantically seduce the car into getting traction is wonderful. I love how technical it can be to go as fast as possible by eking out every square millimeter of contact and traction. I like doing everything on the limit, including accelerating from a dead stop. It should be difficult and irritating to find the sweet spot right up until the moment you drill into your feet how to get the best launch.

I might agree with all of this on a track/weekend car. Talking purely recreation a bit of drama is fun.

I’m mostly talking about a car as a daily driver though. Between traffic, merging, imperfection road conditions, and generally just unexpected variables, I want to be able to go hammer on anvil with my inputs and the cars goes with no fuss. No wheels spinning, no rear stepping out, no transmission taking 10 years to downshift, etc.

Talking purely in terms of personality, I’m very much a “all or nothing/it just works” kind of guy and I’m not a huge fan of things that require lots of finesse or precision. I go for layups over shots in basketball, 100m dash is my favorite sport, shotguns are my favorite guns in FPS games, I use the most straight forward characters in Street Fighter, lifting weights is my favorite activity, and so on. One of the reasons I enjoy working on cars over something like electronics is because of how heavy handed I can be with parts and tools and not worry about breaking anything.

    Food for thought 🤣

lol I’m going back and forth on the RWD vs AWD thing. The main thing I’m not enjoying about RWD is all the wheel spin when I want to accelerate hard. Breaking traction is fun when I’m purposefully trying to kick the rear end out, but the other 90% of the time when I floor it I want the power to go down  as clean as possible. The rear stepping out because I got on the throttle half a second too early coming out of a corner or bc it’s rained at any point in the last 12 hours irritates me.

The issue I’m having is that the selection of fun AWD cars feels super slim compared to RWD. Like Darc said I want something more visceral than my Mustang and outside of the WRX and Lancer it feels like all the options are isolated, worse sounding (than my 5.0)  luxury cars.

Right now my shortlist of cars I’m looking at is:

    Brembo/Track Pack/Boss 302 Mustang

    Pursuit Package Charger

    Twins

    WRX (regular or STI)

  3. Yeah my dream car Pursuit V8/AWD Charger is ~4500lbs, so an EV being even more than that is nutty to me.

Some people laugh but to this day so far the most fun car I’ve driven is my Ex’s clapped out 90’s civic. Small, light (2600 range iirc), fart can exhaust, no power steering, and slammed on the cheapest coilovers money can buy. Car had like 150HP and would scrape the ground if you so much as looked at a driveway or speed bump, but fuck did I love that car.

  4. I was coming out of an EZ pass booth and there was a Model 3 behind and we were both moving, but jfc the difference in speed is nuts. Like you said my car has a V8 and is faster than probably 85% of cars on the road and he blew the doors off my car when he decided he didn’t want me keeping up anymore lol. Don’t get me wrong my car sounds great, but it also felt silly making so much noise for my to get instantly gapped even already going over 100 lol.

That aside, there just aren’t any EVs I like even though I like the concept. The EVs we have now I wouldn’t but even if they were ICE because they’re heavy as fuck, way faster than I want for a public road, they’re expensive, and most of them are shaped like eggs lol. I think a lot of tunes will change when we get something like an affordable Tesla Roadster or the equivalent of an EV Miata.

GPU prices have really gone down. You could build an entry level gaming PC for around $800-900 right now. Depends on what you are looking for.

Have they? It’s been a while since I checked.

Either way I think I’ll be ok for a while. I have the money if I REALLY want it but I’m trying to get into the mindset of being happy with what I have. I can run probably 80% of games fine, and 95% of the ones I want to play so it’s really not necessary.

Honestly SF5 honestly has one problem mechanic

Yeah and it ruins 5 way more than anything bad affects 6. I HATE drive rush for a multitude of reasons but at least there is some opportunity cost for using using. VT is free super installs as a reward for dying. That entire foundation is poison.

Say you want about 6 but none of the ideas presented are as bad as VT. All that 6 needs is number tweaks and it’s fine.

SF6 is a house that needs a few windows fixed and maybe a new roof. SFV is a house built on a Florida sink hole with with termites eating the structure and mold on the walls, but it has nice bedrooms.

Nemo's A.K.I. matchup chart.  He has seven 3-7 matchups and six 2-8 matchups..... There's no way she can be that bad.

So she loses to every character besides Jamie and Dhalsim? Am I reading this correctly?

No way she is that bad lol. He makes it sound like 2/3rds if the roster take her off the select screen.

  8. A couple things about Ken’s Jinrai I didn’t know and want to share for anyone just in case:

    1. Jinrai works just like Dragonlash or Rashid’s Arabian Cyclone where the sound queue is significant for which version you’re looking out for. Words = danger. Ken yells “JINRAI!” for the heavy version, which is the one that is safe on block. The rest (including OD) are grunts.

    2. All non-heavy versions of Jinrai are unsafe (-7 at least) on block if not followed up. In this situation if you block a non-heavy Jinrai IMMEDIATELY mash your 5-7f reversal or super if you have one. This situation is reverse check mate for Ken he can’t avoid the reversal it’s absolutely 0 risk.

    3. Outside of drive rush blockstrings into heavy Jinrai are fake, even when cancelled from heavies. Not something you’re gonna check on reaction but if a player is repeatedly doing it just know there is a gap.

    4. Low is always -5 on block and overhead is always -3 regardless of version. Even if you can’t punish it is firmly your turn after blocking these attacks.

    5. If you REALLY don’t want to deal with Jinrai on block or you just really don’t know what to guess you can always Drive reversal the first hit.

I feel like she's got more going on for her than some of the other characters but that's just me

It’s still early but I really don’t think AKI is that good. She has some sauce of course but I think the fact that she has to win effectively two interactions to get her mini game holds her back a lot. Can’t really see her being any better than middle of the pack right now, but that assessment is just as much about the top 5 as it is about her.

I know I sound like a broken record but outside of aesthetic reason I’m not picking her over JP or Guile.

Manon gets to delete an increasingly large part of your healthbar no matter how many rounds you're up or down vs the opponent

Jamie gets to become a decent character for one round by giving up his oki 4 times or spending 2 super bars

    makes perfect sense

If you’re bad at the game just say that lol

Jamie will jump up in tiers if Capcom changes the drinks system to be like Manon's so his levels carry over between rounds

Lol what? Manon medals carry over between rounds because she has to land a command grab or get a combo punish to level up...she literally cannot gain without interacting with the opponent. Jamie can drink in neutral, combo into it, and has a super art that temporarily takes him to max level. Not trying to be rude but I’m pretty sure you have no idea how good either of those characters are if you think those resources are comparable at all.

Also I don’t think Jamie is the worst character in the game at 0 drinks. He’s bad, but just having a reversal, a usable drive rush, and a cancelable low already puts him at a base level of competency above the actual worst characters in the game. Even if that was true, getting just 1 drink already makes him way better by unlocking his divekick and lp target combo.

Jamie has the same problem as every other resource character right now where he has make suboptimal choices to play a mini game so he can be comparable to characters who are better for much less investment. It’s one of the biggest issues with SF6 right now.

  12. Lol nah I don’t want to hear anything about not getting calls after that game. Pass interference on a throw clearly out of bounds, unnecessary roughness on the hit on the qb not even out of bounds yet, literally the entire d line lined in the neutral zone on every tush push, soft ass taunting call. Both teams got away with plenty of dirt or got bailed out via bad reffing.

I will say it’s a shame to hear those coaching complaints…birds fans will tell you we have a bunch of those same issues on both sides of the ball. Minute forty left and you’re in field goal range? Better take a shot at the end zone and leave time on the clock for no reason. Opposing offense is 3 yards away from a first down? Better play your corners 10 yards off. We are absolutely being carried by talent right now because our coaching is extremely suspect.
