  1. Finally got time to play after a two week drought. I’ve technically had internet for a few weeks but it’s been a lot of drama trying to get Comcast working correctly (at one point they were only giving us half the speed we payed for) and we only have the one modem downstairs. So basically if I wanted internet access I had to move my whole setup downstairs. Just got a power line adapter and used it with my computer for the first time and it works great.

Had time to climb to Diamond 4 but this was probably my least enjoyable session in 6. At one point I fought 6 Kens in a row, and I was getting a shitton of 1 and done fights. I will say that I was at “chance to rank up” and the Ken player let me win so I could advance ❤️

    Just beat the story mode:

      Reveal hidden contents

It wasn't good to me. It was ok-to-good up until they revealed who the real villain was, then it just cratered. They wasted the potential of a new era and got too crazy toward the end, to the point I don't even care anymore. Maybe I'll feel better about it on rewatch (if I do that), but right now I feel even my effort trying not to spoil this was wasted. Had I known this is how it was going to turn out, I'd have just watched it on youtube.

This is a shining example of how multiverse can ruin shit if it's not done right. I know this isn't multiverse in name (this is different timelines), but it's tomato tomahto. It really feels like they just ran out of ideas and are doing anything now.

Yeah this mirrors my thoughts pretty much to the letter.

    Spoiler

MK1 has the same problem as Marvel where everything is a world/timeline ending threat. Shang threatening the timeline happened literally right in the last game and we basically get the same shit here even though they went out of their way to establish this as a clean slate.

At least stretch out other story elements over a few games so we can have a breather from the timeline nonsense to focus on other aspects of the story. The first arc with Earthrealm training for the tournament was a cool opportunity to reset and explore reborn characters. Instead we get:

    * A glorified training montage and Raiden literally soloing Outworld in half an hour (including beating like 4 characters off screen) after getting his thunder powers from an amulet.

    * Shang goes from a merchant to a sorcerer in Sindel’s court after 1 conversation and a bunch of shit happening off screen.

    * Quan Chi’s entire background happening off screen despite being a major portion of the second arc.

    * Scorpion and Sub being basically a meaningless subplot that makes them enemies in the most ham fisted way possible.

    * Mileena having Tarkat and it causing issues in the royal court amounting to basically nothing besides being an excuse to give her fangs.

And I’m sure I’m missing some stuff. All of those plot lines get cucked just so we can rush to the significantly less interesting conclusion of MK11 Shang threatening reality…again. Like cmon we couldn’t do anything else?

Gotta say I'm starting to think Ronda was a better voice actress than Meghan; her lines sounds so... flat.

I don’t know anything about audio but her dialogue is so bad I feel like it’s unedited or on a bad mic or something.

Worse than Rousey...? I find that hard to believe.

Rousey sounded like she was trying to voice act but just sucked because it’s a job that requires actual skill/effort. Fox sounds like she is literally reading the script off a paper in her living room.

  4. Shang’s VA was top notch he grabs attention in every scene he is in.

Yeah the story felt really good for the first 1/3rd, passable for the 2/3rd, and by the last bit I considered just turning it off.

I also share Dracu’s dislike of the new Sub/Scorpion and they are the only new timeline/new background refreshes i don’t like. Without going into spoilers Kuai Liang feels like a pointless cosplay of Scorpion and Bi-Han barely even feels like a character. Maybe this is the trade off for no SF characters but I’m super disappointed in this version of them.

In my experience canceling EX Wheel into Super 2 usually fixes the issue.

I don't know if most people know you can cancel that EX move into Super 2 tho.

You can, but iirc you get either better oki or more damage (can’t remember which) by linking instead of canceling into SA2. Obviously shouldn’t be done here but if you are already in the habit of not canceling I can see messing up the combo like he did.

Edit: Just checked my notes and it’s extra knockdown advantage

Also, you could probably guess that by the fact that she has a triple crouch jab string in her combos, that stuff pretty much exists to give you the time to charge specials.

One of the weirdest changes coming from SFV to SF6 is how common 3 hit light confirms are. Like on a character like Chun who needs to charge for SBK I understand but you have characters like Cammy doing it like???

It’s not broken or anything it just feels weird to see.

    How 'bout them Cowboys 🤣

JFC I heard they won but I didn’t know it was like that 40-0? They said most of the games yesterday had less points than that total.

Eagles W was one of the ugliest games I’ve seen from us under Sirianni/Hurts. Offense had one TD the whole game and we needed Elliot to make multiple 50+ yarders and defense to make big stops repeatedly to win. Outside of the pick 6 we got outplayed most of the game. New coordinators are definitely gonna come with growing pains if this game is any indication.

  8. One thing I can appreciate about going from 5 to 6 is how much slower dashes are. Mfs trying to dash in and I’ll jab check that shit almost everytime lol. We spent the last 7ish year trying not to get violated by 15-16f dashes in 5 your obvious 20f SF6 dash ain’t surprising me bro XD

Anyways I finally had time and opportunity to sit down and play and I climb from Diamond 1 to comfortably into Diamond 3. Had lots of fun and Masters is in reach.

Also good heavens I need to learn the Jamie matchup.

On god I hate listening to normies talk about fighting games. I was afraid saying this would make me come off as one of “those” players but fuck it’s so fucking cringe. UHHH YEAH DUDE HAHA GET OVER HERE!! UHHH YEAH DUDE REMEMBER THE GREEN GUY FROM SF2 THAT WENT RAAAGH AND DID ELECTRIC MOVE?! HAHAHA XD

To me it’s always cringe when you have some celebrity clearly feigning interest in something bc they got a bag from some corpo. I don’t expect Megan Fox (or any non-FGC person) to really be into the game so in that sense it is what it is. But it’s embarrassing when the person is stumbling over their own words trying to say literally anything about something they worked on.

But I’m sure they have some spreadsheet that calculates a .0732% increase in sales if they get a celeb to talk about the game.

If two people who never played a fighting game play SF6 for 10 hours and then face each other with Gief and Guile, I can guarantee you the Gief player is going to win 8/10 times by just mashing SPD whenever they're next to each other.

Tier lists are relative to the skill level the game is played at. There most certainly is an applicable tier list for Rookie rank, but instead of JP it will have Honda at the top.

Different game but when I was 10 hours into SF4 with basically no FG exp I def couldn’t do an SPD lol. I could do charge moves in training mode with no distractions lol

  11. One thing I will forever hate about fighting games is how 75% of the playerbase will gravitate to a small handful of characters who you will get a shitton or experience against. But then that one time you run into someone more obscure you just constantly get your shit rocked bc you never see them and the couple ppl you do run into are usually terrible. I was fighting a Jamie earlier and he was doing shit I’ve literally never even seen before I never run into him and just fold due to unfamiliarity.

Gonna cherish these early days of SF6 where the roster isn’t 40 deep yet so I feel like I can actually learn every matchup.

Bruh they literally have Megan Fox as her face model. We really got people calling Megan Fox ugly now?

She’s not ugly but Megan Fox looks like every other insta-thot. Hyper mid as far as famous women go.

Also I cringed listening to her talk about Nitara is MK1.

    ”She’s a vampire and that resonates….for some reason” 🤣

Papi, whenever you need it I am ready to unroll just how much shittier the first year of SF5 was compared to this game. No R.Mika makes this game already way better than the first year of SF5.

Yeah I think a lot of this is missed when I complain about 6. I have my grievances with the game but it is 1000% better than SFV in probably every way, especially if we are comparing season to season/launch to launch. No VT nonsense, no trying to check 15-16 frame dashes is 8 frames of lag, functional online, etc.

Hello my dudes, how are you enjoying SF6 so far. Why is blocking bad, why is Ken, why does Honda have better corner carry than Fei Long!!!

    This game 🫠😘

When I actually get time to play I enjoy SF6 a lot. A lot of the characters feel really good to play and I like how I don’t feel too pressured to use my meter one way or another. I feel basically no stress playing this game in person or in ranked. It’s not as stress free as some single player RPG, but I can actually sit down in ranked after work for an hour and have fun, compared to 5 where I would pretty much never touch outside of lounges it if I actually wanted to relax.

My biggest complaints are drive rush being too good to the point of overshadowing everything else, some of the higher tier characters feeling like they have every tool in the game/no weaknesses, and I don’t care for throw loops either. But even that stuff I could live with if I really needed to.
