There's some legit criticism to Kanji's story and how the narrative treats him long term, but not Naoto, not really. 

Just throwing updating to say I finally beat this game about 2 weeks ago and that ending was pretty epic.  Really enjoyed my time with the game.  Game is not perfect by any means as I think Nintendo needs a better way to convey the story they want to tell in a non linear fashion when you're completing major story beats.  They're so afraid that people might miss an aspect of the story that they'd rather have the exact same clip play with barely in difference in variation after beating a major boss.   They either need to  just concede that's not gonna work out and make it so that people can potentially miss out part of the story if they don't choose to take part in it OR not have the order of major story beats tied to any dungeon.  Probably not really making much sense here but the example I'm thinking of is you got to Dungeon A, B, C, D and if you beat 1 of those dungeons then you get the next part of the story and so on so forth.  I think BotW was better in that aspect at least.  Also going to need Nintendo to at least do a better job of considering continuity when making a direct sequel to  a game.  Like....opinions on the timeline notwithstanding...If you're going to make a direct sequel to a game especially the exact same area then the characters need to acknowledge that the previous game happened cause it's super weird talking to the Hyrule guards or revisiting villages and certain characters that you think would be LIKE "OH HEY LINK LONG TIME NO SEE MAN!  YOU DID AN AMAZING JOB PULLING OUR ASS OUT OF THE FRYER LAST TIME YOU WERE HERE!"  but instead they're just kinda like *gives a nod*.   It's just weird.   I know they don't want to try to alienate people who just are diving in to TotK but it's a direct sequel...if they didn't play the last game then there should be at least some context lost on their part.  That's the nature of coming in later in a story. 
 
Other than that I enjoyed everything else about TotK better.  Liked the Zelda twist, the fuse mechanics, the verticality both higher and lower, the Zelda twist in general...which then opens up other questions about the other *redacted* in the game, the story told through the tears, The ending sequence and the end in general.  The world has just been great to explore and really love the caves.  Hopefully next game they'll give Link his ability to fully swim and be submerged in the water again.  I still have some smaller side quests along with trying to locate the secret springs that I need to compete but it's now just going to be a kind of at my leisure thing now since the main stuff is done.  I still got outfits to find and upgrade and wells to find and the world is just an amazing looking game from various view points.  It's utterly crazy what Nintendo and Monolith was able to achieve and squeeze out of this system at this point in it's life.  Here's hoping they can continue to build and improve on this formula moving forward. 
 
Now I can get caught up on all the TotK media I had to purposefully avoid so I didn't get spoiled.....also Zelda Funk is out in case you missed it.
 

So...looks like Sonic 3's competition is Mufasa (on the exact same day) and Kraven the Hunter.  It'd be pretty aweome of Sonic 3 manages to go for the 3peat.
 
Also there's rumors starting to come up that the trailer is going to show up within the next 2 weeks potentially.

If you don’t know who ‘Penders” is. Ken Penders was main writer and artist for the original Sonic the Hedgehog comic by Archie for about 15 years.  He’s credited for creating over 200 characters through the comics. Most of which he likely wanted to fuck.
 
He also built up the Echidna mythos (like making Knuckles their reincarnation of Jesus or some shit?), the chaos emeralds mythos and a bunch of other stuff. 
 
Sega and Archie had to do a lot of reshuffling and reorganizing when they went to court with him over character rights among other things. A lawsuit which they both lost.
