It's alarming how easy it is to repair and replace arcade stick parts once you get past the initial fear of breaking something.  The worst you can do with that swap is to put the harness on upside down or have it rotated incorrectly, and either of those are easily remedied. 

Hey.  I just wanted to say that I appreciate this tip greatly.  I looked up some videos on how to replace the microswitches and just ordered it from that website.  Never truly messed with anything in the stick so I'm hoping I don't mess anything up but it seems pretty simple.

........Why do I feel like...I'm having a sense of deja vu hearing this comment and it's making me really agitated.    And I'm pretty sure the reason why is because this is the same mentality  that we already went through during the PS1, N64, Saturn era and then low and behold come to find out that there actually is a place for pixel art.  I was hoping that maybe Kotaku took them out of context but nope....there it is.  There's just so many games that have released now that pretty much fly in the face of this mentality especially with how well Mania was received and sold.  I'm immensely disappointed to hear this come from Iizuka.

Oh there is. Think a big problem with the game is marketting and how its discussed. This isn't a metroidvania. I get that it looks like a duck, quacks a like a duck (would be better in some places if they'd approach it like a duck which is what Blasphemous 2 did in some places), but that's that. It isn't really a "Soulslike" either because wel lits missing elements from the soul series in a bunch of places.
 
What it is closer to is like a 2D side scrolling RPG. If you approach it that way, with a combat that lets you do some gross fatalities to random enemies (they're cool AF), then you'll have a better idea of what you're getting into. There is a lot of story stuff. A lot of story stuff. Look like 80% of the secrets you discover are some storry fluf shit that you'll either love or could give two shits about. If you approach it in a more relaxed way then finding about the awful world these people are living in. If you are like me, pressed for time in gaming, and wanna find things that change up the gameplay, this game sucks all the fucking dicks. Becuase you're going to do some hard jumps to find the clavicle of St Lawrence the Distended so you can read about how he died of explosive diarrhea thanks to the miracle and how happy he is being penitent of his sins while dying of holy diarrhea.
 
But the artwork is top notch all around. Just you know,put yourself in a mentality that it is kind of a slow drink type of game.

I think what it comes down to is that even though gaming is a "cool" hobby now, a lot of gamers are still socially inept losers lol

My least favorite part of the OG God of War games was the sound effects.  I agree with you 100%.  When you are out there whooping people's ass, there is no impact in the hits or anything.  That always really bothered me, especially because the music in the game is top tier.

I recently replayed Dad of War again, this time on PC, and really enjoyed it. The game already looked alarmingly great on PS4, but being able to play it at a high framerate improved the experience quite a bit. I decided to get GoW3 remastered afterwards, and man, 30 minutes in and it feels like shit in comparison. The hits just don't seem to have any impact to them, it's like playing fucking Gauntlet or something. I'll give it some more time, as I did enjoy the first two back when they were new, but what a stark reminder of why I used to dunk on American action games so hard. Kudos to Sony Santa Monica for making such a massive improvement with DoW.

Oh shit, that reminds me I picked up the 360 version like 2 years ago because of Series X BC and I guess I forgot about it. Seriously it's like I buy games, pop em on my shelf and then some Eldritch horror just absorbs it into the void so I forget about it.

A game I did buy and didn't forget about was Contra Hard Corps: Uprising, bless up backwards compat, but yeah jaysus that game is tough. Actually had to restart the last level because after killing the last boss I missed jumping to the helicopter and lost my last life 😭

Picked up Gravity Circuit last week after seeing a few of you talk about it, just finished the game on normal. Fun game, very well tuned, feels nice to play. Looking forward to hard mode then challenges like no upgrade runs. Was expecting more out of the music though, just seemed like the weaker of the MM soundtracks. Not annoying or anything, I was just expecting something more special, given what they were going for. Would have been nice to have a Jake Kaufmann soundtrack. I'm very grateful for the whole modern retro indie thing- there are more and more people who are really nailing the feel these days.
