I hope Capcom nukes Luke but these freaks in Japan love white people so it’ll never happen. God damn LQC was so much more interesting than this shit.
I knew LCQ was bound to be more hype with how whack the qualification process was this year and how many Luke's made it in to Capcom Cup.

Maybe it has something to do with the freeze screen glitch where, if you press a button during the opponent's DI freeze screen your input gets eaten.
Could be. There's time where I swear I'm hitting the button and my character just stands there and eats the DI.

I get that for people at my level, but I don't think the pros have meter issues like nubs do.
How is it safer? A reaction DI to a DI will be a punish counter and then you can land a big combo, pushing them closer to the corner, or getting out yourself.
If you aren't 100% sure a DI is coming it's just safer to parry because it also covers other options, plus a perfect parry off a DI will get a side switch. I prefer parry over DI when I'm cornered because even if you miss the perfect parry, you prevent the wall splat. Sometimes DI's don't seem to come out even when I know they're coming.

At this point I'm probably rooting for Nuckledu or Mena if he's using Blanka. I just can't cheer for any Luke player.

Does anyone know why a lot of the high level players will react to a DI with a parry instead of a DI? I've seen it quite a bit in this tournament and I've been noticing the drive bar and it happens even when they both have a lot of drive bar. I would think reacting with a punish counter DI would be the better play but there has to be a reason.
It's the safer play because it covers multiple options.

James Chen be fucking up A LOT now a days. I noticed it in LCQ and he continued doing it again today in the first group he commentated.
Oh yeah, he makes a lot of mistakes but I like his passion and usually David is there to correct him.

Fucks sake, I can't stand saint cola commentary. Half the current fgc commentators are straight trash, everybody's trying to be the next yipes while having none of the wit or the charm the man himself has
Yeah, I'm not a fan of him or Vicious. They did SFL Japan and it was painful.
Ultra David, James Chen, Yipes are my favourites.

Wow, this is nuts. This suggests the patch is just around the corner. I'm liking those Jamie changes!

Block them and move on.
As a rule I only block ragequitters - which surprisingly SF6 seems to have way less of than SFV. I think SFV just made people salty lol.
-
I find one and done'ing to be annoying. If it happens once in a while, whatever. But there's literally people who will always bounce after one match and most of the time these people have a very flowcharty gameplan that you know if given another match they would probably get downloaded and lose. Also, there's people that let the time tick down to 0 and then leave just to irritate the other player.
I mean they're not nearly as bad as ragequitters. But at the end of the day, why not just hit rematch?

I wonder about Ed's normal move flickers. I wonder if losing access to a standard cr.MK/st.LK will hurt him long term, especially for whiff punishes or to check yolo drive rush
Not having a standard cancellable cr.mk in this game is a pretty big loss but then again his flickers will give him long range drive rush cancels.
His other obvious weakness is having a slow reversal that can be meaty jabbed.
It's looking like he might be bonkers in other areas though. I think his screen control might be pretty oppressive. That ex snatch move that is plus on block looks insane.

If people won a tournament fair and square, they EARNED it. Doesn't matter how you feel about it. They entered the tournament they were told to enter, beat the people who entered it and played they're way through it. Sucks for the people who didn't win. But I bet some of those entered the same tournaments and lost.
But lets not start shitting on people who qualified because events need to be more eSports.
Nobody is shitting on the players and if they are that's a dick move. People are shitting on Capcom because of the format. The qualification process was confusing and people didn't tune in to watch. Which led to a bunch of people getting in that are basically unknown's. Which is fine in the sense that it's always nice to have a few of those players. But when over half the players in Capcom Cup are these players and you basically locked out Kakeru, Punk, Tokido, Daigo, Moke, Problem X and more - that's where people take issue.
-
This is a fucking gauntlet. I'm rooting for whoever takes LCQ to win Capcom Cup. Even if it's Punk 😂

This is exact scenario is the biggest reason why i do not like parry/just defend/flawless block mechanics in FGs.
In theory it starts out as a well-intentioned idea to give an extra option on defense, which I really like actually. But then in practice every single time it turns into a justification for making certain offense options completely degenerate with your parry mechanic being to only consistent way to fight back.
In fact sometimes you need to make certain options a bit dumb because otherwise these mechanics end up completely invalidating certain kinds of attacks/strategies.
Just parry bro.
I don't mind parry because I like having something to do on defense and I like having strong offensive options. That said, JP's Level 2 definitely needs a nerf. I'd also nerf his OD Amnesia, there's no reason that should do as much damage as it does and send you full screen to have to deal with his nonsense again trying to close the distance.

Damn I think I'm becoming an Ed gooner.... I really wanna get my hands on him.
Pretty interesting that all the dlc characters so far are rated at high difficulty. But the smartest players will find ways to make them dumb
Tricky, Hard and Long range. I'm most surprised about the hard and long range because I'd say in SFV he was mid to close range and Easy. Seems like almost a completely different character and I'm for it.

JP's level 2 is just such a stupid move. Literally every time it's used, it hits the opponent. I mean these pro players can't even defend themselves in the LCQ when it's activated.
Just the dumbest move in the game.
Everyone was wondering why Daigo wasn't parrying against it and it turns out that it was a true block string lol.
-
The LCQ has been awesome so far. Kakeru/Hibiki, Daigo/Punk and MOV/Moke were all great matches yesterday.
Judging by the matches and looking at the Top 16 - I think the LCQ is going to be better than Capcom Cup lol.

OD Psycho Flicker looks ridiculous. Fast horizontal range that combos off hit and pulls them in and is plus on block? Wow.

If anything it will force a transition to where most fighting game tournaments will become unviable to support and the genre completely transitions into online outside of REALLY big events like EVO, CEO, UFA, Combo Breaker. And online tournaments fucking suck
We're already pretty much there right now. International players aren't travelling and like you said it's probably a combination of travel expenses plus the shift to online tournaments. This is pretty much ass for the spectators because online tournaments aren't at all fun to watch. And then we end up with situations like this where nobody even knows half the players in Capcom Cup this year and they're playing for the biggest prize ever. Shit just seems whack to me.
It's to the point now where I'm only watching what Evo and Red Bull Kumite? And the latter isn't even a CPT event. What happened to CEO, Combo Breaker, Stun fest, NorCal Regionals, Canada Cup etc. SF6 is a great product and it's a shame there aren't enough big offline events to showcase it.

I guess this is what happens when you don't have global seeding and then do a random draw for groups. Group F got completely screwed. I feel sorry for Mena, Caba, Endingwalker and Angry Bird.

UMA played awesome. Surprised a Juri won with all those Luke's to go through. Was hilarious when Rob tried to take the trophy and he wouldn't let go 😂
