I mentioned the ELO of somebody in Strive. Dude had almost 10K matches and surprisingly low ELO all things considered. Somebody asked how and I said FGs are hard.

Which proceeded a convo about how they aren't any harder than League of Legends or Valorant or Counter Strike. But it never addressed my point that FGs are hard to play. Specially when you wanna go from the level that I'm at  (fairly competent) to the next level (really good).

So now I apparently have the reading comprehension of a 3rd grader because I don't see what any of those games have to do with FGs being hard to play.

What does get me is that there is a section of players saying that all games should come with tutorials (and they should) but then also saying FGs aren't that hard. If they were that intuitive the floor of playskill would be a lot higher. But it feels like in general a lot of people don't have a holistic view of the whole of people playing these games.

Seems people lump in "easy to get started" with "easy to progress" with "easy to master" into the same conversation.  Even in a Sajam vid I was watching, he said that you can just learn a good offensive sequence and do that and do well. But that is a hilariously dishonest argument. It says something about the nature of FG design, but using it as a base for "they aren't that hard" is incredibly easy.

It just intentionally devalues the skills developed in to play these games while being dismissive of people who are struggling. Its okay to say FGs are hard to play. Any other genre says the same thing and nobody bats an eye. You say FGs are hard to play and suddenly its an issue.

I used to play Counterstrike before I got into fighting games and the former is definitely easier.  Anyone saying that fighting games are easy is lying.  They're hard and will always be niche because of this.  People that are attracted to fighting games enjoy putting in the work to lab, work on execution, learn matchups, etc.  There's no instant gratification - it's a tough climb but a fun one.

The one thing I truly hate about this new era of netcode is that I can never tell when its a ragequit or the netcode is just shitting itself.

I've been accidentally disconnected in situations similar to that one for no fucking reason other than CFN felt like it. Sucks balls TBH.

If it's at the end of a round/match 95% of the time it's a ragequit.  I only have 7 on my blacklist since June and 4 of them are Ken players 😂

While it's not a guarantee, Nakayama wanted Cody on the launch roster. So that gives him a strong chance to be in SF6. With one of the two main World Tour Hubs being Metro City, I still surprised that he wasn't in the base roster.

I just assume they're saving him but I don't want to wait lol. I'd like to see a return to the Alpha 3 version of Cody.

I hope they up it to five or six characters for S2. Waiting a whole year for four characters ain't doing it for me.

Was no one watching the CPT Singapore premier today? Pretty much all of the SEA region top players are there and already a ton got eliminated in the pool stages

It's on pretty late for me but I caught a bit of it.

Great to see a stacked offline event again.  Having Mike Ross on commentary was a blast from the past. Looking forward to top 64 tonight.

  5. I have a feeling Ken, Luke and Cammy are going to be good for the entirety of SF6 just based on how they fit what's good in the game.

Anybody else still do forward forward for DR cancel?  I tried to make a concerted effort to switch to medium punch medium kick input but I can't get my hands to do anything else after two months of grinding prior to the change.  Funny enough when I do the character trials I do the new input but I still use the old method with Jamie.

But if the pros and everyone else are dead-set on claiming that A.K.I. is worse than Lily and she needs mad buffs then so be it, I sure am not going to be complaining. If they ever over-buff her in the future and she becomes top tier, and then people complain tho, I will make sure to remind them that A.K.I. used to be literally non-functional back in the day, and thus she's mid-tier at most now that, I don't know, EX Slide is unthrowable and she gets out of the corner everytime unless she's in burnout and they doubled the range of crLP so now she can do 5 or 6 lights before hit-confirming.

Unless something changes, I could see A.K.I., Jamie and Lily all getting overbuffed next patch.  I say that because I think they're not far off from being strong characters and the narrative around all three of them is doom and gloom.

Does anyone else have a problem with dropped reversals? Not just during DR, but also on wake up or during gaps in attack strings and especially after air resets. I look at the input reader and the correct input is there, so I know I'm not fumbling the move. I never had this issue in Street Fighter V (praise its holy name, what a great game that was).

Yep, mostly on wakeup for some reason.  It's to the point I barely even try wake up level 1 because there's such a high chance it won't even come out and I'll take damage.

  8. The two characters I was most interested in prelaunch are both sitting in D tier lol.  It was the opposite in V where every character I liked ended up being top tier.

Jamie is a strange one.  He's hard to put on a tier list because of his drink mechanic.  He starts the match as the worst character in the game but at level 4 he's top tier.  He's a momentum based character where some rounds really go his way and he looks OP and then others are a real struggle.  I also noticed Jamie mains don't downplay at all, they actually believe he's pretty good.  Naruo who's probably the best Jamie right now thinks he's in the upper half of the cast.

It's bunch things going on in gaming right now. Things are easy to miss. I hadn't played SF6 in a while because I've been enamored with BG3. So much so that I got late start on my new CP2077 run and I'm not far enough into to go game to start the Phantom Liberty DLC. I burned through the MK1 story quickly at least.

TLDR; Too many games out. It's understandable.

BG3 is sooo good. Game wasn't even on my radar and now I can't stop playing lol.
