Yeah, you make a great point. I need to make time to play SF6 as is. Then Ed drops right before FF7: Rebirth.....it's gonna be interesting. I didn't count on Marvel Midnight Suns of all games to take up so much of my time. I don't know how I juggled so many games at once when I was younger.

I'm trying to finish my third playthrough of BG3 before the 29th when FF7 Rebirth drops.  Ed drops around the same time.  Plus Dragon's Dogma 2 comes out on the 22nd of March.  My video game schedule is packed.

I'm still looking forward to the games but no new info is a really weird choice imo. I wasn't expecting an info dump but dang even a small tease as to what's on the horizon would've been cool.

At that rate they just shoulda saved the Ed gameplay reveal for Capcom Cup lol. But the nice thing is that he'll be playable at the event so it'll be awesome to see some hands on.

I'm really surprised they went with that decision.  Either show Ed and Akuma or at the very least just Ed.  To have nothing is a missed opportunity especially when they have so many eyeballs on the big event with a million dollar payout.

Some people were even expecting season 2 announcements lol.

But now I'm curious about possibly going to the 6gawd layout which uses smaller buttons and I'm curious if anyone here uses it and how they like it.

I'm not sure about the layout but 6gawd is a hilarious name.

I have a macro on stick for DI and have to move my pinky to hit the button.  Feels like I'm a fraction slow sometimes.  I think pad is actually the best controller for DI reactions since they always have a finger on the trigger button.

Some characters are just badly designed and no matter how many buffs you give them, their tools just aren't suited for the game they're in. That isn't exclusive to asw at all. sounds like the character You're playing is one of those, so why do you keep playing her?

The first thing I thought while reading that part was Alex from SFV.  Received buffs for seven years straight and was still an irrelevant character up until the end.  It didn't matter how many buffs he got because what he was doing just wasn't effective in the SFV meta.

This is pretty interesting.  Matchups between 1700+ MR ranks.  This looks like a standard SF6 tier list but a few things stand out for me.  Dee Jay and Juri are a lot lower than expected.  Dee Jay is usually seen as top 5 and Juri usually hovers around top 7 - but here they're both around mid tier.  A.K.I. and Manon are much higher than expected, sitting around mid tier. And according to this Rashid is top tier and #3 overall.  That last part doesn't surprise me as I've always been very high on Rashid.

Yeah and it's shit. Granted Tekken is also doing a one char per time of the year release but at least it had a roster twice the size of SF6 at launch

Imagine they don't even tease Akuma in any way and conclude a CPT season finale with a fucking Ed trailer lmao

I think they might actually do a combined one with Akuma.  Especially given how close to Spring we'd be at that point.   And they know it would be super hype and a great way to end CC X.

I keep finding FG devs to be very lackadaisical with balance. The Wild Assault change in Strive was for the worse. But now there's basically no way to play the game I actually liked for 2 years before this shit.

Its awful. I really wish devs took balancing more seriously. Unfortunately for ASW, they love just throwing shit out there and then saying: "we hope you have fun exploring these new mechanics". Brother its a garbage ass mechanic. Take it back.

    😡

Not sure why devs are doing this but SNK just shoehorned a new mechanic into KOF XV called Advanced Strike and apparently nobody actually wants it.  The game is already heavy on the aggression and they added another mechanic that buffs offense?  Weird.

Edit: I agree with twin lol. I don’t think he’s secret top tier or anything but I definitely do not think he’s as bad as ppl are trying to say he is. Just having a DP, cancelable low, and usable drive rush puts him above the actually bad characters

He has those things but unfortunately they're just worse versions of what the top tier have.  His DP is easily the worst in the game; has dead zones and can be neutral jumped on wakeup for a full punish.  It also will randomly activate SA1 if the opponent uses a move that crosses ups Jamie and/or changes air trajectory like Ken's air tatsu.  This basically spells the end of the round for him.

His cr.mk is stubby compared to the other cancelable lows.  Cammy, Ken, Ryu, Chun, Juri all have way better cancelable lows than Jamie.  And the characters that don't have cancelable lows like DJ, Guile and JP are just way better in other areas.  None of these characters have to give up oki to drink either.

At the end of the day I don't think he's terrible and he's really fun to play.  But there's a reason he's at the bottom of every tier list you see and also listed as a 'good matchup' in every matchup chart.

If I was a more charitable person I could steelman Chris’s logic. However fuck him he mains Ken. I don’t wanna see the top 5 characters gutted to such a degree that they become unworkable but you can’t in good faith get annoyed that people want Kim to be top tier in a game where JP can just do whatever he wants and the people will say he’s balanced because you can throw him 8 times. Capcom Cup looks like a fucking snooze fest because it’s literally all fucking Lukes AGAIN!!!! I get why people main Luke and with 1 billion Bison bucks on the the line why settle for dog shit like Lily. But holy hell Luke/Ken getting a little tap on the shoulder shouldn’t spell the doom of ground based footsies just because Manon or AKI might get brought up. That being said if Jamie becomes top tier next season I’m uninstalling for Tekaiichi 4.

The main hype I feel for Capcom Cup is just trailers and reveals at this point.  Way too many Luke's and 0 Jamie's.  Plus, the actual quality of the tournament will be lower because of region lock.   They really need to go back to a global points system so we have the best of the best at the end.

  10. Interesting.  I've been considering switching to leverless, or at the very least just trying it out.  I've been using a TE2 for ages, and while I still enjoy it -  every time I get missed inputs I'm wondering if I'd be cleaner on a hitbox.  Only thing is they're quite expensive here in Canada which is the main reason I'm hesitating.

One thing that drives me nuts with Jamie, that I thought would help with leverless is his cross cut DP execution.  They can very easily accidentally activate his SA1 which means you lose a bar and he sits there break dancing across the floor leaving his opponent all day to do a max punish.  It completely sways the outcome of the match and it happens often - even to the best Jamie's.  Another thing is just walking and quickly blocking/dashing that would help immensely in the Guile matchup.
