Just order 2 double whoppers and say you want no Buns

Does BK still exist? All the ones I knew around me are gone. It feels like BK is the big burger joint that will die from COVID.

Gamestop was going to die but clung on, still, that disappearing would also not surprise me. Gaming is bigger now than ever before but Gamestop is on life support.

This is one thing that I've never understood nor liked about the human race, and that is people who can see you're already having a bad time and want to do their part to make it worse.  They could easily leave you alone, and you probably asked them to, but no.  "Let's keep getting on the guy's back until he Hulks out on us."  I'm sorry people can't stop fucking with you at a time like this, but at least you know who not to deal with.  I hope hanging around here will at least ease the pain a little.  If so, We'll do what we can to keep you from tearing out your hair or anyone else's.

lol so true. And then they act like you're the bad guy after they keep needling you.

A lot of people also take kindness as a sign of weakness. But I think, honestly, the kindest people are the strongest, that's why when you piss off someone kind, they pretty much easily wreck the shit out of multiple shit talkers. Unfortunately, we have a society that then punishes the kind and compassionate for defending themselves, and others really. You keep doing that, and then why is it a surprise that over time people don't want to help anyone else, and only the shitty people are always around talking shit? Actions and rules have consequences. Design a stupid society, encourage poor behavior, punish good people, and then all you'll have left are assholes. And when assholes are the only ones left, they tend to just tear into each other like the rats they are.

Yeah actually, the day has been an absolute mess but some of the flip side has been good. Got to air out some stuff publicly on FB. think doing so did what I thought it would: be actually sad instead of just angry at all the abuse from close family members.

So now I think I can actually start being sad my mom died rather than wonder if she actually loved me due to all the shit that happened immediately after her death. The SRK blow up was one thing; but Preppy's nonsense during all that mirrored terribly how some of my close family behaved.

I'm pretty good though. I didn't mean the MegaShock thing as a jest though. Happy Fuck SRK day and their shitty admin day!

    🙏

lol funny thing is I always thought you and Preppy were close. Also you should have ditched SRKGD way back, I'm pretty sure I even suggested it to you, but you didn't think I was serious or something.

  4. Last man I remember going missing was Etoki, apologies if I got the name wrong, he was a youtuber that did Nintendo stuff.  Had mental health issues and committed suicide. There was some discussion for him later but nobody really looked.

In comparison I remember when /r/gaming was a default subreddit, and some slut youtuber chick was banging someone at a con and wasn't online for like 12 hours, and all of that subreddit started organizing a search for her.

I guess it's just it really is still a patriarchy and it's mostly thirsty dudes these days and whatever they're interested in. They all seemingly share the same mind and back each other up so much too. Thirsty white dudes dominate the internet it seems, rich old white dudes control everything else.

This has always been going on, social media just made you more aware. Black people have been complaining for decades how the media never does these statewide manhunts for missing girls. Social media has made it easier to get the word out

APB: a single white female is missing, attention all units. Get the hounds and all the white men together, we're a going to do a statewide hunt now.

This is highly hypocritical of me to say, but it feels like there are too many superhero movies/TV shows in existence.

While I love superhero movies/tv, I sometimes feel there's too much to watch and that I have missed out on so much other stuff.

When MCU started in 2008, there were 1-2 films a year. This year there are 4 (Some of that is due to COVID)

Plus, broadcast shows, various streaming only shows, direct to video stuff, games, and of course actual comics....

I wonder if there will be a turning point and they will fade in popularity like Westerns after 10 -20 years?

    Probably not.

I think it's probably already fading. Every generation kind of wants their own thing. We've been on the comics kick for pretty much an entire gen now, the next gen is growing up and they're going to embrace something that they feel is more catered to them.

I hope it's video game movies. Because I can get along for more well done video game movies like Sonic the Hedgehog was. I want a wave of those. Maybe a good Super Mario Bros, a Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, I mean there's a whole bunch if there are writers and directors that are really willing to get into it and write good stories.

The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy also had the potential to be the Star Wars for a new generation, and they fucked that up too.

I think they reached the audience they were aiming for. Wasn't it one of those "woke" things? Prior to the ST I'd often see mainstream media/culture mock Star Wars fans as Autistic nerdy incel dudes. And after that trilogy, it was all "Star Wars is cool, it's by women, for women, about women". I think these attitudes are toxic but what I hate more than that is when people gaslight and insist none of this stuff is there. Nothing annoys me more than people that gaslight.

  8. The thing about the pandemic is it kind of gave us a break from all the annoying people that would worm their way into our lives. And now it's hard for me to really go back to dealing with any of that. I mean we were already moving more towards ignoring irritating people in person, and there are more online tools for that too now, but this kind of accelerated and really put that into focus.

Of course the really annoying people tend to be vocal and are constantly seeking attention online the same as they'd always been. They've stepped up their efforts now I think because they're even more cutoff in person. I've read conflicting studies that say the most vocal and toxic people are a minority on the internet but are the loudest and make the most content because they're so dysfunctional in real life, but then also that people are the same online and offline. I guess you can read that together as the organizers behind the latter probably only looked at the most vocal or something, but most of us know people online act way different than in person. Most people are way more aggressive and confident in themselves online, the biggest mouths I've had the misfortune of reading online tend to be the quietest and physically least intimidating in person.

like I said, I stopped caring. But there are some people who are hella stuck in some ranks because they aren't really doing much to progress. Its still an SF game, one full of gimmicks but still SF. If you don't have footsies, you don't get anywhere. You add the amount of studying you sometimes have to do for certain things and it can get weird. I don't know exactly how people deal with Bison's pressure without going to training mode with it.

Hmm I dunno, I see lots of terrible footsies pretty high up on that online ranking thing. I don't think you can play true footsies online anyway, even if V had a great netcode. Everything has to be modified because certain things are just different. But today the playerbase is mostly online so I guess it is what it is.

Is it even possible in 2021 to just play offline? I kind of think it really isn't. Only if you're a pro level player now, and many of them play streams as a source of income so they just accept playing online and probably play it up a bit.

But I am with you on the not caring thing. I gave V a shot mostly because of a friend, our very own AYO, inviting me to play and kind of pushing me into it. Otherwise I've been out of the scene some 17 or so years now, that's a long ass time. I did play online until roughly 11 or so years ago before disappearing entirely until earlier this year pretty much, I guess the online is better now but it still seems so poor to me. I don't know why anybody would prefer online over offline play if they have the opportunity to play offline. Fighting games are meant to be played offline and in a community.

Biological males have too much of an advantage and it's silly to have them compete against women.  I think it will finally come to a head once a trans fighter kills a woman, then all of these activist rags will SHOCKED and APPAULED that such a practice was ever allowed.

lol people don't want to admit this until something like that would happen. The rest of the time all you hear is women are just as athletic and capable, and a trained female can beat most men, even pro athletes. There's no point in arguing with people that talk like that, somehow it always gets around to them making personal attacks and bragging how they're so strong and can beat lots of people up themselves, especially the people they're arguing with. I can't tell if it's like some sort of fetish or if it's them actually believing this shit either, but it's a lot more annoying than how I wrote that.

On another note, I'm on a good "fasting" session at the moment... last time I ate was noon earlier; finished lunch at 12:30-ish, and of course I've had plenty of water only.  I might try and make this a 24-hour one.

I very rarely discuss my own habits because there's really no benefit for me. But I've been eating once a day for most days for several years now. Once you get used to it, it's really pretty easy. Makes scheduling very simple, I eat most evenings around 7 or 8 and that's that. If I eat earlier, it typically makes the next day's fast longer as a result. So if I just decide I'm eating at noon, a sandwich or two, chances are I won't eat again until the next day at around 7ish. I've tested it before and 48 hours is perfectly fine. Once you start getting past 48 hours is when it can be problematic (dizziness, light headedness, things just start being "off").

Now on a related note, I wonder if going 3 days without food, 72 hours, that weird stuff that starts happening then is starvation? On TV shows we see people start eating body parts as time goes on. It can get pretty trippy honestly, you start hearing stuff, start seeing things that...aren't really there? I guess that's starvation but who knows, maybe it's some secret supernatural power awakening. Martial arts rumors and old books and stuff you'd often hear about mystics and monks and such going a week or more between meals and allegedly having powers. How wild would it be if all the crazy stuff we used to hear about when meals were harder to come by actually happened, like magic and crazy feats of strength and what not.

Again in terms of testing, I'd typically go for a run before mealtime. So 23 hours of not eating and then run 45 minutes, shower, then eat. I'd also done that at the 47 hour mark, skipping the first meal. But trying to do that 3 days in a row, I've never tried that, I'd rather not try it. I'm not responsible if someone tries it either. I'm not telling anyone not to eat for 3 days and to run without food for 24 or 48 hours or whatever. I can't even do that shit now anymore, I only do the 24-31 or so hour fasts. And I practically never run anymore, I'll do a rowing session in the afternoon if I do anything or just some weight lifting, but not a long ass run.

I got to super diamond then did nothing to improve, stopped playing for a long time, went back in and got deranked to diamond.

Now I got Strive, living life happy,  got VIP two months in a row and have a lot of labbing to do to learn match ups properly.

I think for V a lot of it is just oki setups and making sure you're on point for that, and being aware of the oki run on you too. It feels really shallow to me. I thought maybe since I barely played the game I might be wrong on that, but I spoke to some top players and that seems to be the consensus. I have no idea if it's true or not but a lot of people say you can get to Master just focusing on those two aspects of the game.

But as you allude to, you do have to play regularly (all fighters are the same) and want to improve, I'm not sure most people care enough to bother. FGs are kind of a weird thing, feels like most people are not having fun most of the time, so I kind of wonder why it even has the playerbase it does.

One time I visited a Pakistani classmate's apt and asked to use the bathroom.

He asked am I urinating or defecating. I said urinating.

He asked me to sit down while doing it.

I assumed he was just fastidious about cleanliness, but later I wondered if it was due to some Islamic customs that I, a Christian, was ignorant about.

There is apparently something called "wudu" (not the one from Shenmue) that has rules about washing

After complying and going while sitting, I wiped and did an inspection.

I have  never been asked by anyone what process I am doing and if I am going to sit or stand.

It was an unusual request for me.

There's always splatter no matter what. I always sit down when I'm at someone's house. When I use public restrooms I stand because who cares. At my own home I always sit down. Ultimately it's just respect for yourself and for others, because someone has to clean that, whether you or that person.

it's pretty funny that someone like Naruto Uzemaki is supposed to be Japanese I guess but he's a naturally blue-eyed blond-haired kid 😆  Sasuske and Shikimaru actually look believable as Asian kids though, and that's about it.

On another note... the old stereotypical/racist way they used to draw Black people is just funny to me... one of those things I'm not *supposed* to laugh at but I'd be lying if I claimed otherwise. 🤣  Ooh, remember that time they made Mr. Popo blue for a while, apparently to steer clear of any expected outrage I guess... then he went back to being literally black-skinned again.  Either way, the way that character looks has always been hilarious to me.

This has come up before but SF probably would have been cancelled today. What a ridiculous effort. Dhalsim, Deejay. And also Punch-Out! with its nonsense.

I mean I loved that stuff and I don't know that either was malicious, but today's a different world too where you can't hide behind ignorance or whatever without at least getting challenged.

Almost all anime characters are European with brightly colored hair.

So true. Occasionally you see a "nadeshiko" char who is a white woman with black hair and slightly angled eyes at most who likes Japanese clothing.

Everyone else is just a white person with different color hair, often blonde, denoting their "aristocratic authentic Japanese lineage that can be traced back thousands of years". The male chars make also have spiky weird hairstyles, including multiple colors of hair on the same person.

The Japanese are by far the most self-hating minority group I know of.
