Oh, btw, they’re bringing back the 90’s X-Men cartoon with a lot of the original VAs reprising their roles, and the original writers and directors are advisers.

It seems like it will continue where the original run left off, so hopefully they keep the same energy as my avi

I'd been hearing buzz about it, didn't realize it was going to be a continuation. I really liked that series, one of the most important and best television shows in American history imo. It dealt with mature themes and actually had a progressing storyline and character development. I don't recall any cartoon really doing that before, and TV in general didn't at the time. This show needs to get way more credit than it gets.

I didn't get to watch them all in order until sometime after it aired. I don't remember how it ended though.

Why'd you post this in the SFV thread though?

I doubt that will change... it is too ingrained in American society at least... this mentality to basically treat women with kid gloves in just about all situations where they would otherwise receive harsh consequences.  They are like spoiled children that have never been told "No." by parental figures at any point in life.  Seriously, imagine a kid that has never been denied what they want to do or get by Mom and Dad...and has never been disciplined for whatever the latest crazy shit they've done, and think of what kind of person this becomes later as an adult.  That's basically what they are at this point.  They can literally get away with murder if they want, and so they act accordingly in life and just do whatever they want whenever they want regardless of how much it fucks over someone else...*especially* a man since a lot of them ("most", imo) tend to naturally look down on us as a "lesser" variant of human.  Really, if anyone is "toxic" it's them, tbh.

I don't think it's women that are the problem, I think it's that most Western men are effeminate, emotional and weak. And before anyone wants to argue with me, I present twitter as exhibit A, and Facebook as exhibit B. Hell I can just rest my case right here.

A lot of new players are young, and are attracted to games that their favorite youtubers/streamers like.  Since a lot of fighting game streamers are old it's not too surprising that they're getting into boomer games.

I asked the teenage guys at my arcade why they like playing 3S so much and they told me it was because of Maximilian. Boomers out here corrupting the youth...

Well, at least they're not playing SFIV or SFV. They're better off playing 3S, CvS2 and MvC2 for sure. SFV's popularity makes even less sense to me. I honestly can't fathom why people would want to play it.

  4. I'm legit amazed at how many beginners there are for CvS2. 20+ year old game that honestly did have some serious balance issues, and the RC kind of made it even dumber. I do still like it over IV and V, but I didn't think newer/younger players would gravitate towards it like this.

Question is will they stick around in a few months? FGs tend to have massive falloffs within a few months, and usually by a year they're lucky to retain 5-10% of the initial surge. People either quit or go really hardcore, at which point it's very difficult for new players to start.

  5. The internet is a weird place. Everyone shits on reddit and social media, and there's also a ton of right wing talking points usually thrown about and people bragging that they're rich old white men, but the statistics show the majority of internet users and adults use reddit and social media and aren't in fact old rich white dudes.

I also think reddit sucks, and I go further and don't have a facebook and haven't for several years now, but that makes me more an outlier than anything else. Usually the same people saying reddit sucks and social media sucks and how everyone should get off those things consider someone weird for not being on those things.

Reddit if you just use it for news is a good resource. Just don't post on it, unless you need to ask a question, but don't generally expect a good answer (you have to filter through several moronic answers if you even get a response). I use it mostly for the NBA, PC hardware, and games that I may like or am looking forward to.

y'now, all this time I've been doing the intermittent fasting, and there's still some other benefits I'm just now finding out as I read up on it on a whim a few minutes ago... it also helps against inflammation, and a longer fasting period helps the immune system.  Previously, I started doing it to control blood pressure, and weight loss was a nice side-effect bonus of that...

Anyway, it's still a regular thing; I just concluded an 18-hour fast now.  Usually, my gameplan is to just eat breakfast and lunch....then the next time I eat isn't until breakfast the following day.  Of course, a critical thing is to keep drinking plenty of water during any fast.

The cheapskate bonus = imagine how much money is saved when you're only eating 1 or 2 meals a day, and mostly drinking water...compared to what the average person consumes on a daily basis. 😆

I've been eating one meal a day for several years now. It's very rare that I'll eat more than that. There are some benefits but I don't think they are worth doing unless it's easy for you and you just prefer it, like I do. I would definitely not have done it when younger, just my metabolism has really slowed down over time and old age also makes it so I can't be nearly as active no matter how much I'd have wanted to. So one meal a day, generally dinner is all I do. I tested it before to see, 48 hours isn't bad but once I started getting to 72 hours that's when I started getting some lightheadedness and vertigo, so I don't think going 3 days without food is good. 2 days you can get used to but, eh, is there really a point to that?

I have a talent for looking at a cast, picking a character I like from the looks, play them, like them and then find out they are Top Tier.

I think one of the few exceptions are Rugal and Athena in 98.

I think my "worst" characters are High Tier on average.

So the rule, just play what you like applies to me 100%!

Tiers really won't matter unless you're already playing optimal. This is even more true for modern balanced games, especially after a couple of balance patches in. The really dumb bad stuff gets removed now and they try to put more of an emphasis on skill.

The movie is basically the first half of the book. I kinda don't wanna tell you how crazy shit is gonna get so you can enjoy the ride.

But some stuff is gonna get mad weird.

What was the point of doing only half the book? That movie had a short run time too, they easily could have done the whole book then. I'd heard so much about this movie and I couldn't understand the hype.

The irony of police departments refusing to comply with orders, how the tables turn 😂

What you call irony I call hypocrisy. Like their refusal to wear body cams and turning their dashcams off while they insist normal people don't have their Constitutional right to be free of search and seizure because "if you don't have anything to hide you shouldn't care about privacy".

I expect nothing from most people. Even with the hypocrisy laid bare it's not as if anyone cared. In this world it's truly power and wealth that protect you, have those things and you get rights, otherwise everything is merely a "privilege" at the whims of those with power. George Carlin of course, was again, right.

  10. Whatever happened to the AI robots that were going to replace all the essential workers? I remember that was the rage a couple of years ago, with people cackling with glee that said workers would be obsolete and lose their jobs. I almost feel like I'm crazy, it feels like nobody remembers this being a talking point with owners gloating about it. Now suddenly it feels like we're supposed to sympathize with capital not having cheap, desperate labor.

Patrice O'neal talked about how the more accomplished a woman is the more she wants a man to tell her to STFU and dominate her.  I remember one episode in particular they had some hot doctor/psychologist on Opie and Anthony and the other guys were SIMPING hard and Patrice was pretty much telling her she wasn't shit and by the end of the show he had her stripping down to get his validation... 😆

TBH most men are naturally dominant, nature kind of has that figured out already, but you can condition that out with threats. That's why rich powerful men still do all that shit, they know/think they're above the law, and don't get caught until they're elderly. And why men from third world countries are also naturally dominant. It's Western men, especially those that are educated especially in large cities and the like, who are particularly weak and effeminate. This is also true in white collar work outside of the very top levels, who play by different rules.

All of these types of "new research" revelations are stuff that everyone knew prior to some 50 or so years ago. If you read a lot of older stuff, which honestly everyone should, gender relations are nothing new and all this stuff was known. Everyone should read Plato's "The Republic" because it covers practically everything and yes that includes gender stuff and homosexuality and a lot of this other stuff that today's society will insist only started in the 70s onward or that justifies some rich kid getting massive research funds to "study" something and publish it.

I am of the belief that if everyone over the age of 20 died tomorrow, almost all of the current problems immediately go away and humanity thrives for a good several decades minimum until the same issues start rolling again. Current society meta has existed too long without a reset is all, so it gets more and more absurd. A lot of this is again because resets just don't happen anymore, if you study history you see the patterns, but people don't want to even though they love repeating adages like history repeating. This current social structure is honestly impressive in how they've essentially managed to remove the contraction phase economically and unrest socially. They've extended out the decline phase to pretty much a permanent expansion and stagnation cycle. Infinite growth via inflation, never deflation, yet no collapse of any kind, which is the historical precedent through all of civilization and every economy prior. It was thought this was impossible. Karl Marx claimed it was indeed possible, and the greatest irony is probably that this is his system in action but we call it capitalism while calling his version communism I guess.

    btw.

i bought myself bamboo socks. socks made of bamboo.

reason. i heard they stay dry, like wool socks. they evaporate moisture like wool does. unlike cotton that retains moisture.

and bamboo socks do stay dry and your feet are dry and warm. perfect.

i will never understand why cotton socks exist and are popular in stores. they suck.

bamboo socks and t shirts are very popular in southeast asia.

but in north america. nope. considering how many cotton farms there are in the usa i understand why everything is cotton here.

but its really a shitty fabric in the summer. your t shirts and socks stay wet after you sweat.

bamboo doesnt. im probably gonna buy some bamboo t shirts next summer. to feel dry instead of swampy arm pits

I was curious about that. I do have a bamboo duvet for a weighted blanket I never use. It's really nice. I just don't need a weighted blanket.

How is it washing wise? I think my cover can't be machine dried. That might be a reason for cotton being more popular, it's very easy to machine wash and dry.

Missing a DP is already the most detrimental thing you can do in SF though. You already lose like 1/3 of your hp for not landing it and eating a full combo punish as a result...how much more unsafe does it need to be?

The reason SFV doesn’t have meterless invincible DPs is because offense in SFV sucks and is based around hitting your +2 or 3 medium punch in shitty blockstrings.

110% cosign. You can just spaz out on offense in V, super dumb and predictable offense that there is virtually no real counter to. Spaced fireballs used to be SF's signature in terms of pressing on offense safely. Most other predictable moves could be read and countered.

But I guess that's just what the FGC is today, adapt or die. I think I've seen it referred to as dial a fighter. Just mash out those normals in sequence. People seem to really like and support this style though, so who am I to criticize it. Frame data was always useful but the SFV approach makes it pretty much the only thing that matters. It's like studying a really lame textbook, rote memorization and restricted scenarios. No real room for creativity or forcing lots of scramble situations. Which is what I believe the heart of FGs is. I'm 100% certain you can just program an AI for SFV easily.
