I will give the free version a shot, I actually have no nostalgia for the EX franchise besides being aware of Skullomania but I love fighting games despite not having the skill hell I got like 80% of the major non free fighting games on the Switch.

That blows.  I was always torn between the chicken and steak biscuits from there.   Ironically, I had tried the McDonald's Steak biscuits too.

..............Word of Warning:  Unless you wish to suffer the hellish torments of the Gastrointestinal apocalypse, do NOT eat 3 or more McDonald's steak biscuits.  And yes, I mean the biscuits and not the bagel.  I don't know what those bagels are made from and I'm sure it shouldn't be approved for human consumption.  I only ever ate one and I had to leave work for that.  Never again.

I did go to a substance abuse program for 5 weeks. I wasn't ready at the time and to break free from long term isolation, which is another trigger for me to use. I could stop temporarily for up to a month at the least, which I've practiced many times, but the mental agitation and bodily discomfort of that short duration is always unpleasant. This year, I have some organ damage, chronic coughing, and have to keep myself from throwing up after eating or drinking water. This occurs seconds after.

My health department is going to open back up next month. I'll see if I could go back and graduate from that program.

    You sure about that? 😈

Two things stand out from your post: you saying that you feel like you aren't capable of quitting for good; and having withdrawals.  First- AA is designed so you don't have to do it alone.  That's one of the biggest reasons it is successful.  Secondly- if you are having withdrawals from alcohol then that means your body is starting to physically need it to function.  That's a scary threshold to cross and my advice would be to do something about it before it gets really messy.  My best friend was hospitalized when he quit.  He would have died without medical attention.  Unfortunately, that's a lot more common than you might think.  Maybe next time you're bored, instead of having a drink check out your local meeting directory and see if it's something you might be into or not.

I'm no wise sage, but I've been through the steps and they worked for me.  It took a lot of arrows in my ass for me to finally take the first step, which was admitting that my life was no longer manageable because of alcohol. I needed to quit more than I needed anything.  That desperation and willingness to be honest is what saved me. When I was in that state of incomprehensible demoralization I thought there was no fucking way life would ever be good again.

I was dead wrong.  But it took a lot of work to make the necessary changes.  Life is awesome now.

    Yup.

You are confusing posturing for actual faith. They are not the same. A lot of Americans like the look being religious gives them but their actual practice of said faith is dog shit and they abandon it the second its convenient. No Americans are not very religious at all. We are posers.

Also youth are abandoning the church at what the church calls an alarming rate, generally because their values are old and out date and dont resonate with American Youth.

Yea exactly. To an outside. Take it from an actual American who has to deal with these posers and fakes. I dont make comment about how Canadians behave because all my info on it is 3rd hand. I would trust a Canadian to tell me how Canadians actually are over a survey anyone can lie on to look or feel good.

Again, their actual practice of the faith says otherwise. Its really easy to check yes on a survey box. Doesn't actually say anything about how they practice their religion. I have little faith in polls because people lie a lot and polls are easy. They have about as much merit as Online Petitions. I deal with these people in real life. They are trash and trash at their own faith to booth.

    Good luck in your endeavor.

Kind of a side note, but does anyone else have trouble pronouncing the word,"anecdotal"?  Even if I'm reading it silently, my brain is hellbound to pronounce it as "ANN-CEE-DOUGH-TALL" and not,"Ann-NECK-DOUGH-TALL".  If for some reason I end up having to pronounce that word in a,"Fate of the universe" scenario, you all might want to hold your breath and pray.  I'll try not to get us all Thanos'ed.

I think when push comes to shove, I'll obtain permits to alcohol and taboo control for hospitality and/or be apart of marijuana industry if it becomes legal in Louisiana. This is a back up plan if I don't feel confident at attending college for the purpose of owning a business, due to the inheritance of cognitive and anecdotal alcohol damages to the brain. It's pretty embarrassing to talk about, but it a race against the clock for me in the next 2 1/2 years.

You will if you if want to avoid getting hit. Sun Tzu said:
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.     So turn it up!!!!!!!!!! 🤘

Don't be hard on yourself. From someone who was forced in sexual positions growing up from my timeline, I always thought that "raping someone" in fighting games was a bit cringe worthy, but people are capable of making their mistakes less. No one is perfect and the self-righteous need to take a long look at themselves.

My biggest fear was it would blow over into my actual career, but I took steps to pre-emptively come clean about what's going on as they noticed that I seemed way off that following morning having not gotten much sleep agonizing about how a year and a half's worth of hustle went down the tubes for just an analogy that hit the wrong crowd.  They assured me they trusted me and as long as I didn't have any links to where I work (which I don't) then all was well.  Once that was settled, I sorted out my feelings and yeah, reminded myself that I don't do this to be everyone's friend.  I'll be friendly and jovial because life's too short to be a wet blanket and everyone's got their own stuff they gotta deal with, but I got into this to push my limits for a passion that I have for buttons, and I carry over that determination and drive in everything I do.

I didn't know there was a problem until later that evening, because when I concluded the tournament I felt like I was riding high.  People within the chat actually thought I was Yipes, and others who recognized me praised me for all of the work I had done over COVID supporting all these games with Arturo.  I left thinking that I would have any commentary spot I wished once live events returned.  Obviously I got a nasty wakeup call that while I've definitely climbed high, I'm not there yet.  But I think the fact that my apology or perceived lack thereof was met with more disdain than what I actually did has ensured I won't lose much ground in my ambition on that end.  If not I've got a ton of other projects I can work on like the TMNT x JL stuff I've been hammering away at.  I have done stuff within the FGC that I fantasized about as a kid growing up in the 90s, and that empowered me as I resolved to finetune where I still needed improvements.

From now on, I'll remember I'm not trying to be everyone's friend.  I'm trying to be a trusted colleague of certain people who share and work spreading our mutual love of buttons.

And speaking of love of buttons, Punk is on a different level right now.  He's starting to dominate these things like SonicFox does with NRS events.

The old games for me, it's more toward the variety of creativity established in the 1990s and 1980s. I also think that with balance, is why I hold Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting and certain Virtua Fighter games at high regard, moreover, the pre-super era with the others that can be honorable mentions.

I'm well aware that I've spent up to 500 dollars worth of more recent generation games in current times, which led to the misfortunate of buyer's remorse, falsely hoping for the best. Either way, everyone should play what they like, though, without the elitist views.

(Also, I have GGXXAC+R, but due to the lack of innovation afterwards, it's more likely for me to not migrate to the games after.)

This reminds me of the time I was watching omito stream the strive beta and the chat was trying to get him to say how bad the game was compared to +R.  And he was like "Strive is way better than +R".  This wasn't the response they were looking for lol.

Grandma died about an hour ago. I finally got into see her last Friday at a hospital she'd been taken to because she'd fallen and broken her hip, and I was there for a couple hours even though she couldn't talk and was pretty doped up from all the painkillers they had her on due to how much pain she was in. Her breathing was pretty labored sounding. I put on some big band music and showed her some pictures I brought of all of us, and of her and grandpa when they were young, and while she was heavily medicated and couldn't talk, her eyes were open and she seemed to react to some of it. I'm just glad I got to see her, because I didn't get to see my other grandma last year before she died.

Too many people misconstrue the purpose of training mode with what it should do and what it can do. It can solve your execution problems, but it should be used to train OSs. There is a fundamental misunderstanding of what winning in FGs can be at a higher level. A lot of commentators boil it down to OS vs OS, and this is what mid-level players aim to train. In this way, you can see a broad scope of things to train at different skill levels.

From my experience, I never learned movement beyond how it is physically executed until actual matches. I don't practice execution in training mode. What I practice is OSs. This then raises the question, "What does a new player train?"
You're supposed to practice execution, walking, dashing, jump ranges, sure. But what new players actually need to train is their mentality. Attacks are simply a means to an end. You should be thinking of the game from knockdown to knockdown, not punch to punch or kick to kick. Everything from the state of the game to the state of the personal meta is merely a proxy to this end. Practice means repetition. Training means to increase endurance, resilience and innovation. This can only come from asking questions, playing the game and fundamentally altering how you approach a new game.

Want to do the same thing over and over? Pick 5 buttons. Of them, choose an AA. Just do that online, and only that. When we were running DBFZ tourneys on the Reddit Discord server, I told everyone to join, no matter how new or experienced they were. There is no tangible rule, law, regulation or social contract that should prevent you from punching your insecurities into the ground (or indeed having them pummeled for you). These are opportunities to go online immediately, to get a feel of what you're lacking and where you could be with some direction, dedication, love and mentoring.

FGs are a delicate dance. Don't you want to cast aside any notions of sex, gender, norms and society and just get up in your opponent's personal space and try to one-up each other? Free your mind of these things. Discover your strengths and go straight into it. Al Pacino's famous closing line at Baird was, "It's gonna make you proud one day."

Repeating the same thing is like curling on one arm, and only one arm. I would be surprised to find anyone on this forum, or indeed, any other forum that can parry Chun Li's super as consistently as I can, but it's a useless talent. 100% useless. I recognise this. There's a lot I could work on, and I do. These days I spend almost no time in the lab since I'm not really playing anything, but if you have a limited time or limited energy, please spend it playing people. Training mode is useful to a point, but I'd sooner talk to people, fight people, embrace whatever warrior I can from within me and sweat and break my limits over and over and over until there's nothing left of the city. Just keep at it.

    OMG.

    Well, today so far................

I managed to split my toe open on a large chakram-based blade I have.  For those of you with a long memory, it's the same one that went into my leg some 10+ years ago.

While hobbling about and marking my local territory in blood I managed to learn that band aids DO have an expiration date, and mine are past it.  Fuck 'em.  I like Duct tape better anyway.

Apparently my shoulder is in worse shape than I thought.  Cranking up the mower today showed me how much worse. Also:  Me and Taco bell are going to have to stop seeing each other.  My ass is all kinds of out of shape.

.................And now for the BAD news.

That YouTuber named Mr. X is trying to play Resident Evil 8 on hard mode with new mods.  No problems there, right?

    WRONG.

The baby is now a man, your so-called help is now Dante fro m Devil May cry, and the first enemy you face is the Teletubbies.

He has never before seen the Teletubbies and has no idea what he is facing.

I've been trying to warn him through chat to shut the game down and delete it, but he insists upon soldiering on and playing through.  He doesn't realize that the second those creatures showed up that the game was OVER.  It's been an hour and he hasn't made it past them.  I'll do what I can to help, but I fear that anything short of complete destruction of that computer is futile.
