Toyotaro shares Toriyama's last suggestion to him for the last panel of the Super Manga

In an X/Twitter post, Toyotaro uploaded a side-by-side recreation of his draft of the chapter's final page and Toriyama's suggestion. In Toyotraou's version, Piccolo and company fly into the sky with their backs facing the reader. Toriyama's suggestion, which transpires in chapter 103, instead sees Piccolo turn around and wave goodbye to Pan's kindergarten teacher, Janet, before joining the Saiyans.

Fans were quick to point out that Toriyama's suggestion — while providing Piccolo moments of characterization and shipping fuel with Janet — also meta-narratively serves as the Namekian saying goodbye to Dragon Ball Super's readers on Toriyama's behalf. This fan-crafted revelation of Toriyama's final suggestion hits home all the harder when you take into account that Piccolo was his favorite character.

"Mr. Toriyama. Thank you very much for your hard work. It's been 9 years since we worked together," Toyotarou wrote. "It was a miraculous time. Thank you very much. I humbly pray for your soul to rest in peace."

Vegeta's an exihibtionist. There was that scene during the Cell Saga where everyone was watching TV waiting for Cell's announcement. Vegeta goes from having a shirt on to being shirtless from one scene to the next for no reason at all. I remember TFS making a point to highlight this DBZA. 😂

I doubt it. Toyotaro was doing a lot of his own thing with the manga. So I'm guessing he'll just take over. Toyotaro's art is solid but his story telling is...eh.

They said indefinite hiatus so honestly who knows. I feel Toriyama was clearly trying to pass the torch over to Toyotaro, whether he felt that he was successful in doing so before he passed is anyone's guess. And I get it, those shoes are so immensely huge to fill that it feels incredibly daunting and insurmountable especially when it comes to a fanbase that wants to support you but will have a high chance of turning on you and dragging your ass at the drop of a hat. If he decided to not move forward with taking over then I wouldn't blame him but if he does then god speed. I don't think we'll have any idea of anything until Daima is finished.
