  1. ive been playing sea of stars but im about ready to switch this story mode relic on because the encounters are starting to remind me of xenosaga  2 where its not hard but every enemy feels like they either have too much health or deals too much damage and its making combat a slog.

Kotal is a char I really wanted to like, but man, they butchered his potential with their terrible animations and their abysmal storytelling.

But at least he is not Necalli.

That char sucked ass from the moment we saw gameplay, his story just cemented him into the echelons of forgettable chars.

every time i see kotal these days i just think of

Biggest improvement: "Game will include Japanese VA only."

I'm not one of those "turn my nose up at English VA" dudes. The English VA in Baten Kaitos was atrocious. It was like they heard Resident Evil 1 and said "That'll do."

im pretty sure i have a youtube video of a boss fight in enternal wings and the whole comment section is people talking shit about the voice acting and then one of the voice actors shows up in the comments to defend themselves its pretty wild now that i think about it.

  4. i noticed i have a shit ton of half-finished jrpgs when i was going through my obs folder. my add must have been kicking in hard because i was really enjoying most of this shit. i gonna try to finish a bunch of them in the next month. although i  do know why i stopped playing soul hackers 2 after that mothman dungeon that shit really touched a nerve but I'll go back eventually.

on a side note do we have some type of twitch/youtube networking thread i know a lot of people here stream/youtube id like to support with a follow/sub at least.

  5. after i had time to think on it i really like xenoblade 3 but i think people that think its the best one so far have to be smoking something. i think its main story is probably the weakest and i personally prefer the worlds of xeno 1 and 2 better exploration wise but it does have strong character work and it's a close race between 2 and 3 in that area.

i think this series is gonna wind up with a similar problem i have with the trails series in that everything about the games keep improving in various ways but the first arc had best antagonist and everyone after seems kinda toothless in comparison.

Finally stuck my toes into the water of ps2 emulation. Hadn't up until this point because I've still got 2 ps2's, a CRT tv, and all the PS2 games I'm interested in. Having mixed results so far despite a rig that should have no issues handling ps2 emulation (R5 3600, GTX1070, 16gm DDR43200). Shinobi has some slight but manageable dips (though the FPS counter doesn't seem to show it), Chaos Legion has weird vertical lines, SC2 looks low res despite the settings, and CvS2 looks choppy and feels off. Shattered Soldier is running pretty damn good though. Will have to do some tweaking for sure.  The 3d stuff sure looks nice at 1080p.

I've found you can fix most problems by using PCSX2 Wiki if you check the game page somebody has had the same problem and most likely found a fix.

just for an example it says you can fix the vertical lines in chaos legion by using align sprite in hw hacks menu

  7. the main story translations for trails of reverie and kuro are complete anyway what drew attention is people inserting the overlay translations into the steam version of the  games. but damage has been done now if you want to play an English translation now you can or be patient and wait till 2024. people will keep doing it anyway now they will just wait until the whole thing is done then shadow drop them.

Hot take but Persona 5 is one of the few RPGs with good dungeons. Yea even before 04 RPG dungeons where mostly doodoo. They don't provide a unique experience from the overworld, it's the same experience condensed. Dungeons just a place to funnel the combat. Persona 5 actually has unique mechanics for its dungeons that give them purpose outside of being a combat funnel. FPS Dungeon Crawlers like the Etrian series (and even they have the map gimmick) understood the dungeons in most RPGs are kinda pointless and everyone's really there for the combat and builds so they copy paste the part that barely matters to focus on the part that does. Recent example of this for me is Bravely Default series. I don't remember the dungeons for the most part beyond theme, the sand one, the ruins one, Yada Yada, but I do remember all the combat and I remember the bosses of the dungeons for damn sure.

On the flip side one of the best parts of FF7 is when you leave Midgar and travel through a bunch of "mini dungeons" that are like 10 minutes long and you're making consistant progress across the world map. The pacing is just excellent and you feel like stuff constantly happening and you're always making progress and finding new stuff. It's great.

i really dig persona 5 dungeons except that boat and maybe haru's but you pretty much hit the nail on the head for me. too many dungeons overstay their welcome

  9. I'm telling you guys they can make a breath of fire spiritual sequel. have like a giant dragon on the cover looking all majestic id call it hot ass breath: legend of the dragon.

then get black dog on character design, yoko taro on the script, you bring in unchained Sakuraba and Michiko Naruke for the soundtrack and finally you gotta get some cheap ass company to make it prob gust so no world map and empty looking areas in general but at least the characters will look like the artwork. dozens sold!!
