I agree about Shadow Hearts. Don't think I have ever seen complaints about the translation.

I wish publishers had middle inspection like they have in other industries: have a separate group of people go through the translation as translation work is completed. In this case, have Japanese natives proficient in English read the translation.

im pretty convinced if shadow hearts had a decent marketing budget that series would not only be alive but it would be in a similar position to persona right now.

  2. the weird part of the translators complaining that no one has faith in them or takes them seriously is that they pretend like they had nothing to do with it. like before the last 8 or so years i would have never shit on a translator especially after coming up on 90's translations which were done a lot of the time by one guy under strict deadlines.

ps1,2, and 3 era saw a lot of improvement and you can tell a lot of love went into shit like shadow hearts, persona at least after 1, and nier. but lately niggas going into business for themselves and wondering why they get shit on. like i already said im fine with some flavor but at the same time it has to fit and you should know your audience but problem is  you can only get away with that shit because no one takes you seriously.

imagine you were in charge of translating microwave instructions or some shit and went fuck this imma put my own shit in! next thing you know little timmy then fucked up the whole kitchen! if they want to be taken seriously they gotta hold themselves to some kind of standard but id bet they don't want that shit.

  3. its weird how it is these days because i don't even know what an accurate translation of lunar would look like and at this point im not sure i would want to know. so i think some changes can make translations more memorable i get a chuckle out of that old fan made tales of phantasia ill admit.

as far as politics it really depends on the game if im playing a game about a man who fights even the smallest of injustices sure go ahead and get your shit in i guess.

however if im playing senran kagura vs ikkitousen battle of big tiddy destiny you need to get that shit outta my face!  who do you niggas think playing this shit!?

I thought this was funny. Hopefully KOFXV got both right. Anyone get it on console? Can tell us they got both right? Please.

i feel like the towers in strive do what they are supposed to do but being able to see who people are playing is cursed. i'll admit im a weak man i play pot and every time i see an axel i will walk right past those niggas im never gonna learn that matchup.

  5. its prob just that video game effect of most women being absolute 10's. most ugly video game women are designed to be unattractive to match what is usually an ugly personality.

i haven't paid attention to the new game but before aloy just came off as  looking average. hell in the real world she would still rate pretty high at least from my perspective living in the rural south.

Is Xenoblade Chronicles 2 worth playing?  I played a little of the first Xenoblade on 3DS but never finished, but I loved XCX on Wii U.

i really enjoyed xenoblade 2 but it is one of those games that keep throwing mechanics at you that you may or may not understand how to use when playing casually.

but if you could figure out how to use overdrive in xcx nothing in 2 should be hard to figure out. most monolith games boil down to attacking till you can pop some type of mechanic like burst in baten kaitos or chain attacks in the first xenoblade.

  7. i am black but i never bought madden not only because im not interested in it but on the off chance i did want to play like every single cousin has it.

although if that ea vs marvel game had turned out to be an actual fighting game and not marvel nemesis i would definitely have played a football character.

Nothing is more satisfying than seeing an opponent summon al the guns on the 1st turn just to throw a wrench to their strategy with the Numeron deck 🤣

Is sweet revenge for wasting my goddamn time with all the summon bullshit at the start, lol.

It is funny how most of the time it gets them off guard since they don't know how to deal with it or what the deck does in general.

Like the poor dude on the video, that after my 1st attack and saw the effects of the monster started to waste the abilities of the monsters just as i intended so i could summon Gate and fuck him with over 10000k at the end of his turn, lol.

    Edit

Also, relevant to the current meta of the game and how the old players are being greet

see i would have been hit with like two ash blossoms in the middle of that shit.

You mean the claw? Traditionally Baiken has options off of it and with meter it can convert to a full combo. Baiken generally wants to be in so this only helps her do that better.

i understand but it seems like most of the cast also benefits from this specific gimmick unless it goes away when she gets hit i dunno why you would want to be tethered to like chipp or pot

So okay Ni No Kuni 2

Throughout the game and between chapters Evan (the actual main character) keeps having these ethereal talks with a blue haired little boy but he never gives his name.

As you travel You also learn about a man named Ferdinand who long ago did what Evan did. Which is unite the world under one banner and one cause.

Well, in the ending you learn the little boy you keep having conversations IS Ferdinand BUT it’s also revealed that he isn’t an ancient ruler that once United the world. You learn that not only is he from the future but he’s also Evans son.

It’s explained that as Ferdinand grew up he realized he could send his mind essence or whatever the fuck into the past. So as the game has been progressing and the conversations you’ve had together you learn that it’s actually Ferdinand asking his dad for advice on how to rule a kingdom and finally fulfill the dream Evan and Roland (President of Isekai) had set out to achieve.

When Evan asks how come he was told about Ferdinand by the Librarian (a minor but semi-important character). Ferdinand explains that she is a librarian in a loose sense but she is actually a Seer who saw Evan and Ferdinand’s future and wanted to make sure Evan had a clear idea of what he wanted and the path he wanted to take. That way Ferdinand could actually exist and accomplish what Evan couldn’t in his life time.

So once all this is explained it jumps to the future where an adult Ferdinand gives a state of the nation address basically celebrating that he finally achieved his dads dream of uniting the world.

You also learn that once Roland (President of Isekai)  gets transported back to his world that the what you thought was a missile was actually a firework. As before getting Isekai’ed he was on his way to his own state of the union address thingy to celebrate the fact the world had finally United under one banner and one cause just like he helped Evan and Ferdinand accomplish in their world.

it then pans out from his limo and you see more fireworks go off and the credits roll.

I hate it but at least I’ll always have it’s amazing prologue.

i'm almost positive that i have never played anything level 5 has made that didn't piss me off some kind of way unless you count dragon quest viii. i still remember the terrible party ai in rouge galaxy.

Any of you guys play Transformers: Devastation?  I'm assuming yes cause of who developed it.  At least some of you.  I've had it for a really long time (on PS3) but never played it.  I'm not sure why.  But I put it on the emu and it runs great.  Its a fun game and I like the sound.

I was wonder, is it a long game?

I played nuGoW a bit last night.  Ran buttery smooth on ultra settings.  I'm diggin' it so far and its kinda tough.  Kratos still a badass.  I only played the first 2 games I think, maybe just the first.  So I'm not sure how this badass god destroying dude ended up with a kid.

you can wrap up devastation if you have like 3 or 4 free hours on a random day

  12. for what its worth i really liked tales of arise but i like most tales games the only thing arise had that the others didn't is a budget.

also i wish the franchise in general could figure out boss battles in the old games the bosses are combo dummies especially if you play in multiplayer in arise they have specific conditions to stun them which is fine but even when their downed you don't really get any feedback when hitting them and that part really bothers me but that's more of a personal gripe.
