I thought about getting the watch but the battery lasting 24 hours is a huge deal breaker. I'll stick with galaxy watches

My thing is that the Pixel Watch doesn't auto track workouts. I currently use a Garmin day-to-day for the feature set, but Google locking the vast majority of the watch's features behind Fitbit Premium is some what of a deal breaker for me. I personally would have liked to have seen Google offer a year's worth of Fitbit Premium, but I guess I cannot be choosy; as the smart watches available on Android are good. Not great, not terrific; but a solid meh.

New Distant Worlds CD got put up on Sittingonclouds.  It's a 35th anniversary CD...most of the tracks have been on previous Distant Worlds albums but I'm imagining that they're a different arrangement/ play of those themes.

I have tickets to a performance in November out of town for Distant Worlds. You have absolutely no idea how stoked I am to hear Final Fantasy tunes played by an actual orchestra!

  3. Had the OneUI 5 beta on my S22 Ultra just shy of a week, and I couldn't use NFC. So that was a gigantic waste of time.

Spent most of the afternoon today resetting up my phone with my work apps and email, and banking apps. If it wasn't for Samsung's Smart Transfer app, I would have to take the next 2-3 days off work to get everything set back up how I had it before moving to OneUI 5. It's okayish, but I would rather try out the full version of OneUI 5 once it gets released to my phone through T-Mobile. Also, if you have a Pixel phone (I believe a couple of us do), you can get Android 13 like right now.

Also, if for some reason you have problems sleeping; read Esper's technical breakdown of all things Android 13:
    https://blog.esper.io/android-13-deep-dive/

The full article takes something like 4 hours to read in full.

ups sucks. so does dhl. so does usps. the amazon delivery is better as long as its to amazon lockers.

Which they don't really do a lot of the time. I delivered to exactly one set of lockers, maybe two in the 36 months I worked as a delivery contractor for them.

Amazon, for their delivery operations; hires contractors in major cities to run those for them on a program called Flex. Same bullshit that Amazon does with micromanaging warehouse employees they do to their contractors. Miss the end of your block time or arrival time to the warehouse because of traffic too many times? You get booted off the platform with no chance to appeal. Happened to me, and before I opened my business a couple years ago I'd go into Dallas/Ft. Worth a few times a month and spend all day doing deliveries. I was bringing in an extra 4k every 45-60 days because I would be doing deliveries all day long from like 5am until 6 or 7 in the evening.

They also recently settled with the FTC over stealing tips from Flex contractors, and I got a nice check for about $1200 as a result.

I've been looking to turn my Linux rig into a media server and ditch all the external HDDs I've been using as backup.

Found this site -- they've got good prices on enterprise-grade HDD/SDDs, both new and recertified:

    https://serverpartdeals.com/

Just snagged a 16TB Seagate Exos for about 200 bucks, and they have free 2-day shipping.  If it works out I'll definitely be buying more from here.

Let me know how the experience goes. They have some really good HDD deals that I would probably bite on for my NAS enclosure.

  6. A second post to my PC Woes:

I've been up and running for about 1-2 weeks now on Intel Z690. Amazon fucked up when I ordered my motherboard and processor and sent me a 10th gen processor instead of a 12700 like I had ordered. Ended up with a Asrock Z690 Extreme motherboard as well. Wife ended up getting me a 12600k with some of her redeemable stuff from work, and I ended up with a Aquafusion cooler from Enermax (that works surprisingly well). Now instead of being a RGB hater, I like RGB now (and the fact that I can turn it all off makes it easier).

Your obsession with other peoples' girlfriends has got to stop.  This is the second time I've seen you bring it up.  Next offense I'm IP banning you.

I'm of the personal opinion he should have been banned long ago, and I ended up dunking on him after he pulled something like this on Stu (I believe) not too long ago. I am a person capable of immense restraint in the vast majority of instances; but tl;dr Zata needs to go, and he needs to go yesterday.

So follow up on this, I got  Samsung S22 day before father's day. With the trade of my old phone, a deal going with trades and store credit, I paid a total of $18, and that with a new case, screen protector and charger on the bill

Curious question, why the regular S22 and not the other models?

You would be spending the extra money on the OLED screen so the question to ask yourself @YourFavGrandpais if she's gonna use it portable or on the TV most. If on the TV then Animal Crossing Edition, if portabke the. The OLED, it will be way nicer for her eyes.

when she was big into Animal Crossing, that shit was on our TV all fucking day and night. So yeah, Animal Crossing model it is.

My Three Hopes journey started just after midnight.

I'm picking that game up on Friday. I sat down earlier to play the demo, next thing I know two hours had gone by. Had Hyrule Warriors been like this (with a steady damn near 60fps on Switch hardware), I probably would have put more time into the game.

That being said, I'm planning on surprising my wife with a Switch for Christmas this year. Here locally, they still have the Animal Crossing special edition one, the regular one like I have, and I've seen some Switch OLEDs around at Walmart. I'm tempted to just go for the OLED out of principle, but I have no clue what I would be spending the extra $50ish dollars on versus say the Animal Crossing one or a second one like I have.

If Strictly Limited still has their collector’s editions available, I might go and snag one.

iirc, I have a PS4 copy on order with them but I've heard exactly nada on when it'll ship

edit: Does anyone know if both Psikyo collections are available in NA on Switch? Looks like I'm importing both Psikyo collections from Amazon Japan on Switch, because fuck people scalping the English versions of those collections.

Also WHY IS BATTLE GAREGGA NOT ON THE MF SWITCH YET??!!!

from my understanding, they could not get the game running full speed on Switch. Which is why it's on PS4 (and subsequently expensive to import, as there's only the Korean version)

She said a couple of days ago that we didn't need to buy one right away. So, I'll probably hold out for the 40 series (and wait a few months more for pricing/inventory to stabilize) before buying one.

A bit of an addendum to this. I'm posting from her computer right now, due to the fact my CPU has bent pins on it. I've got new Z690 parts in-house, but am waiting for my updated cooling bracket from Noctua before reassembling the PC tomorrow afternoon.

The latest rumors said that Nvidia will drop the 40 series in July or August. If that's true I will definitely wait the 2-3 months.

Your telling me. I have the XM2 and I been chomping at the bit to upgrade them because I don't want to use a micro USB anymore. Guess I'll wait for the next one

Check Woot every so often, they'll put newer (albeit refurbished) XM models up for sale there. Last time I looked, they had the XM4 headphones for less than $200; but they sold out of them.

    edit:

Also, Google posted a new video showing off their new Bay View campus ... which is pretty gosh darn neat.
