Lucia feels like she belongs in a different game but that's the reason I think she's well designed. Despite being weak, she's a hell of a lot of fun and doesn't feel like the run-of-the mill SFV character.

I don't like the idea of items enhancing fighting abilities. I didn't like SFxT gems and I don't like it in FEXL either. Certain decks/gems just always emerge as the most powerful and the others never end up never getting used.

I mean that’s fine, but to me it’s all about choice. If I prioritize having as good a connection as possible above everything else I should have the choice to deny someone playing in suboptimal conditions. To me it’s no different than region filters letting me block someone trying to play me from Indo-fucking-nesia.

I personally wouldn’t block someone based purely on wifi alone, but it’s a scale. I’d be more willing to play a wired at 115 ping than wifi at 100 ping, but I’m definitely denying both at 300 and accepting both at 50.
