    The vid was done all the back in early 2014... right around the time KOFXIV was about to be announced. 

    It aged a bit funny as far as what my mentality. There was a fifth video but that was omitted because it was just a flawed summary. 

     

    You on the other hand should have a pretty fun time on KOFXIII. An excellent game for one as cool as you are

  2. Coming in with some good news. 

     

    I was able to preserve most of my fighting game footage from my old account. 

    Google Takeout. 

    Some may already be aware of this. 

     

    But, I was able to save nearly 13 years worth of fighting game stuff up til 2021 when I got caught up some... FFVII RE soundtrack-related issues (I was trying to upload the Hello House Boss Fight on the highest difficulty but... that's not how it worked. The warnings went to my spam email apparently). 

     

    Only bad thing now is that the stuff from SFIV and SFV is practically obsolete now. But, just in case need to know: 

    Google Takeout. DM me or look for the instructions on how to retrieve your files. 

     

    On a more related note, one of my coworkers who plays SF6 actively has taken a liking to Juri and Guile, so I can see if I can help a brother out on that end for casuals when given the chance. 

  3. The threat title is clever.

    Angry Bird is the champion of EVO, an apparent Ken player. 

    But, Blanka also "won" because... now there is very likely going to be a swarm of Blanka players trying to emulate Menard's approach. 

    That and even more Ken players for obvious reason. 

     

    Admittedly, Ken really does feel like a relatively solid character (currently. I dunno what the balancing and programming staff at Capcom are planning). 

  4. By the time Gouki becomes playable, we're going to get some more of: "I am the master of the fist!," and then we're expected to forget that he was smoked out by Gouken, Gen, and Oro at one point. 

     

    I hope people still don't buy into the Shun Goku Satsu literally taking people to hell to have their souls shredded by demons or something corny like that. 

    The nail in that coffin should have been obvious by SFV.

    Like, Rashid playing smart tricking Gill into do/say something evil while being streamed all around the world, would be a very Rashid thing to do and quite effective 

     

    I do like the idea of Gill (and, by extension, Urien) being put in their place in terms of both combat and through the exposure of their less-than-savory acts.

     

    Rashid being a candidate for the latter would be a great set piece.

    It's agitating to think about. If they are to fix this, the devs would have to make stuff more minus and/or put a little more whiff recovery frames on the moves that would otherwise be headache-inducing. 

     

    Those are just solutions right on top of my head. Although... I'm not sure what the devs would have in mind.

    What the staff members were likely banking on as a counteraction is for a low/high intermediate player to start implementing the defensive mechanics cleverly, yet under these circumstances, it * might * be easier said than done.

    Jokes aside, now that Kolin was mentioned, the Illuminati is still present in this story I'd still have to wonder what happened to both Gill and Urien, considering this takes place post-3S.

The weirdest part about the game is that you have to get used to people mashing. Negative frames are so abundant that the layer one of this game is playing it like its SF4 where you just hit them crouching jabs. The amount of mashing at all times after a blocked button is probably the hardest thing to get my head around. I'm not a mashy player so in my head it doesn't make sense that dudes play that way. Until you can get your bearings on stopping people from doing that, the game feels super alien and scrubby.

     

    The drive bar situation is also interesting. Neutral Drive Rush feels too good, but its also the only way to guarantee plus frames outside of meaties. But then you get into the issue of drive rush cr.mks being too good. You can throw those out at random with a lot of characters because the worst might be is 0 after the fact? On hit you get a link so you can be pretty careless with it. I'm curious to see if this becomes a standard for the game or if there's legitimate counterplay. 

     

    After spending a while just hitting my head against the wall, I like it a lot. Outside of shitty meaty projectile stuff, nothing really feels poorly thought out. Maybe don't give Ken Ryu's crouching forward but eh, what can you do. Need to learn a lot about the cast before I can say whether or not something is just bad design.  Maybe blanka didn't need a divekick?

     

    Who knows.

    SF6 picked up SFV and body-slammed its ass. 

    Only thing it does not have is Lord Bison, Rose, and a few others but there is always compensation with JP. And, the DLC for the near future...

    As a Manon player I see this as a universal buff, 'cause all I'm seeing there is their ass blocking low on the ground and I have two overheads that go into combos and a command grab that reaches from the Moon. 😎
