Also, PC seems to come with some headaches that console gaming seems to avoid.

It's not all the time, but getting controllers to work, bad ports, etc. seems to be a much more common problem on PC.

Then again, it's way more open ended, so mods can make your experience way better.

I basically did this dance for 2 years until covid came along and forced my hand.

I think if you spec'd out what you'd need to run pretty much all the modern (and probably upcoming FGs) it wouldn't be too terribly high in cost. At least relative to a PS5/XBSX.

That's kind of the rub though; part of the benefit of having a PC is that you can use it for a lot more than just that so buying one "just" for FGs seems like you're spec'ing the wrong way. At least you can upgrade later.

What tipped it for me was having something PC only that I wanted access to (TTS during lockdown). I think that is when it makes the most sense; when you are getting full use out of the box. Makes me feel a lot better about the investment. Otherwise everything I'm playing now I could still be playing on PS4 (sans MB/3S via FC2 but those are new additions).

I got hopes for rambo, even though every dummy in the world whose never actually watched any of the movies thinks hes a gun guy(maybe, go watch the first 3 movies if you think that, when its time to murk fools its with a knife or a bow) I think he will probably have a grappler variation. Probably something like 1) grappling 2) traps 3) green-arrow lite with the bow.

If I can't slink out of a wall of mud and stab a dude in the chest then all of MK11 was a gigantic waste.

If it wasn't 2020, I'd just gift it you. Unfortunately it is 2020 and my wallet isn't what it normally is.

Appreciate that man. Honestly not a cost issue just a "how much will I use it?" question. But with the people here that will want to play it makes more sense. I'll keep an eye on it.

Plus with a PC account if I ever needed a pick me up I could run amok in Rookie/Bronze for a bit.

It didn’t get better or worse for me this patch. But the the netcode is 9/10 for me overall since switching to PC.

I keep hearing about how much better the game runs on PC. Makes me tempted to pick it up now that I have a comp that can handle it but I don't know that I want to give Capcom any more SF5 money.

So why did my writer's block go away at 1am and I was up writing unti 4:30am when i have to be up at 6:30am? 😑 Honestly, if I didn't have to work, I would have stayed up and kept writing. Here's to a day on 2 hours sleep 😔 I'm getting to old for this shit 👴🏾

When the mental floodgates open, they open, and you just kinda have to deal with it then and there. Happens to me sometimes after I feed my cats in the early AM. At least you got something productive done. I usually just end up lying in bed for an hour or two thinking about dumb shit. 😁

I genuinely enjoy everything about this game except the presentation.

I read this as "...except the penetration." Which amusingly enough still applies even though it sounds way more filthy.

GGs man. For barely having played the game you did well even if it doesn't show on the W/L. I was constantly having to adapt to keep up. Once you get some combos down I won't be able to skate though some of those closer rounds. And just like any game it takes a bit to get used to stuff like mix ups, punishes, wake ups. I still suck at a lot of that.

I share your feelings with the game. The moment to moment game play can be a lot of fun - I really like how much movement there can be - but the game could really stand to get out of its own way with some of the presentation.

Also yeah it is really nice to play a game that just plain runs well online. Hoping Strive has a similar experience.

Looking forward to playing more in the future. I think you were onto something with Sheeva. 😁

or should i not even worry about this now, and just do cr.LP, cr.LP or something easy and safe?

The thing about light punishes is that sometimes due to spacing and such you may not always get your two buttons to confirm. I found that what is best is to actually look them up and lab them out. Failing that just do the safest thing you have on deck. That should work for a bit.

Caveat: there are some things that are "big" light punishes for that rank. Stuff you know people are going to do that they are used to getting away with, but if you can duff them for it you can really turn a match on its head. When you punish a Ken HK Tatsu you can just feel them working on a scrubquotes post in response.

From what I remember what you should be more focused on especially at those ranks are the -5 and worse moves because people still throw them around and that is your best way to rack up free damage. And of course the faster you can burn semi-optimal EX reversal punishes into your muscle memory the better. That is what is going to really carry you.

  8. I'm waaaaay less versed in MK11 than I am with SF5. Aside from some early sets with Bee and recent sets with Mattatsu I've played very little. Still a strong sweep masher.

Always take solace my friend that so long as you don't lose a FT10 by 13 games, you are at least making better life choices than Perfect Legend.

I’m really enjoying Chun and think I learned a lot today (not just about Chun, but dealing with pressure and jumping mofo’s, plus some other things). Somehow, in all of this time off from SFV, I’m kinda coming back to it with a fresh set of eyes, and am noticing things I never realized before, at least during matches (not after). I’m still ass, but feel like I may actually start getting somewhat decent if I keep this up.

Glad to hear it is working out for you man. A big initial hurdle is being able to slide a bit out of the heat of the moment and recognize things during a match. Like any other skill it mostly just takes practice but it is one of those things you need to actively work on.

If you want to crack into sets sometime this week just lemme know. Though I still owe MK11 games, and now Melty games, and Dayaan at least some 3S now that I have that set up. Dance card filled up. 😅

I'd definitely go back to Granblue if they added rollback netcode.  It's a great game but the online is so frustrating 😢

Yeah I bought the damn thing and never even cracked into it really. Granted that was about the time I was really off of FGs but the general feelings on the GBVS netcode didn't exactly light a fire under me to fire it up.

  11. You'd hope so considering all versions should be similar in terms of implementing rollback.

Ideal world they branch out and start adding rollback to other franchises. Doing another GG makes sense as its maybe close enough structurally to make adding it after Strive not too bad (go for the hat trick and add it to Xrd too, fuck it). But it sure would be neat to see good rollback in GBVS and/or DBFZ.

I'm free tonight and can do some games. Hope Bee and tables have enough prep time to possibly join us.

Tonight is unfortunately a no-go for me (after I said most nights are good, sorry.)

Tomorrow would work if you guys still have the gumption then.
