I am truly baffled by Warner Bros decision.  You made the highest selling game for the year of 2023 and that was with people trying to get it boycotted and canceled.  You fucking combo broke a sales normal and you looked at this and go "....We need to make more live service games"

Excuse Me Reaction GIF by One Chicago

Who is the fucking shareholder over there telling you guys this bullshit?

I THINK their logic is this: those games take time and money and care, and even then, aren't guaranteed major sales. Why do that when you can roll these live service dice until you get one that hits? Because one hitting may make up for many that don't. Just like the egregious microtransactions in these games nowadays. The few "whales" more than make up for the majority that are pissed at them.

But this gamble is dangerous in a way microtransactions aren't. I think the whole idea of live services is getting a stink on it now, outside of a couple properties that excel at it. If they throw all their eggs in that basket, it'll be a disaster.

It's one of the very few releaes to have an inverse curve where instead of all the sales happenining on day 1, the sales continue to grow the day after.  Supposedly it's sold 3 mill so far and I feel it's much deserved.  It's just a fun game that you can play with some buddies and it's $40.  It's not perfect but it's just trying to a fun ass game which is what it really exceeds and excels at.  I can only hope that the success of this game that's just trying to be fun, not trying to kill the budget on its graphics and not purposefully trying to make the grind so rough that you even have to think about buying a microtransaction makes some devs rub their chins.

I think the only hope there is the indies and maybe the mid-level studios.

120 million is cute, but AAA studios are about way bigger numbers, and you need GOW Ragnarok sales every title to get those numbers without microtransactions. We might never be truly free of them when talking about any AAA studio.

I can't agree with that since I think the faces for the women in MK1 are a step up.  All the women in MK1 look fine to me with the exception of Milleena when she's going full Tarkat (but if you're into that you'll find no shame from me) and Ashrah ( don't find her attractive but I'm cool with her aesthetically since she looks actually more demon than she did in the first timeline).  And now that I feel the same way I feel about Sareena in this game too...don't find her attractive but I dig her aesthetic overall better.

I think he meant (albeit with sarcasm) those new outfits. I'm ok with them, but can see how one would think they're butt-ugly. Except for the main Mileena's one. I like that. If I played Mileena, I'd be trying to snap that up over the weekend.

Danning Kruger is in full effect right now...I'm starting to see more people out here trying to come for artists and trying to tell them about their jobs.

Trump went to a Sneakercon and I thought that was weird hearing that news but I kept it moving.  Come to find out he was actually there to show of shoes hes promoting.

And these things actually sold out apparently.  There were 1000 of these so that's about 400,000 not including taxes.  And apparently they booed the hell out of him while he was there.  I'm pretty sure I don't want to meet anyone who actually bought a pair of these.

    Edit:

And I'm finding out that someone paid $9000 for a pair of these after bidding on one of the pairs that had Trump's signature on them.

Excuse Me Wow GIF by Mashable

I SO wanna believe he did that as a chess move, knowing they'll be more valuable in the future when Trump is either dead, in jail, or president again.

But I know it's much dumber than that: he really just bought them.

I never could have imagined the discourse would balloon out this much over IP that's been established and been forthright on what it is since day 1.  I almost want to refuse that this dude watched or read X-men and legit thought "this is just about giant robots & aliens".  It sounds like a fucking parody or troll account but it isn't.  And then the sub discourse surrounding Morph is even more "WTF are we doing here?"

Algorithm engagement. That's what. Somehow, someway, losers like that get paid off the anger that comes his way. Whether it be ads or new members. Used to be, if you verbally shit your pants, you'd just get laughed at and that will be that. Now, everybody has an echo chamber AND them getting dunked on is beneficial. Not that much, but enough to make it worth it. It's worth it to shit your pants and be a public loser if you have no other skills these days. If you gather a crowd, that is.

I just really wish we had a way to stop rewarding all these all these professional pants-shitters.

I like how the mom says she got rid of her vinyl and wound up just buying a lot of that music again. She learned her lesson the first time, but some teenager who hasn't ever owned physical media won't get that lesson until it's too late.

I love Spotify, but I've run into situations where a song I want to hear has some sort of licensing issue so it's unavailable even if the rest of the record is. So I'm with the mom, I decided to keep all my CDs as well and have even bought quite a bit of vinyl lately.

I'm close to the opposite end. I see the value in keeping stuff, no doubt. But being able to play damn near everything right now on Spotify makes up for the times where something is behind a legal wall. Those times are so rare for me. Then again, I'm not a music buff.

Frankly, I'd have a more "keep your stuff" attitude about DVDs/Blu-Rays. I don't care for them myself, but the splitting up of EVERYTHING you get nowadays is getting annoying.

My captains cooking makes me think he's suffering from dementia. Aint no way you cookin hamburgers and suddenly think "Lemme add some green peas and artichoke hearts to this" unless you suffering from a mental condition.

He might legitimately be the worst cook on earth. He'd find a way to fuck up a boiled hotdog by somehow adding unnecessary ingredients that dont match 😂

My brain almost made me gag just processing that. Some dumbasses don't get that you have to KNOW the rules to break them. Your captain is flying (frying?) blind.

Disney is a law firm that is been taking significant Ls as of late. They also, like most companies, are used to dealing with someone with smaller pockets. They wouldn't be able to run out the clock on this case, because the person bank rolling it has ulterior motives (proxy fight) and far larger pocket book. If you think discovery won't scratch them, then to be blunt you haven't be paying attention. The took an L when they fired Victoria Alonso for cause. It seemed like they were in the right. However, they settled with her before the discovery phase. Of course that doesn't compare to the Ls they keep taking against the state of Florida over the Reedy Creek situation. Disney has lot of skeletons that they don't want to get out because frankly the existing management is under significant, justifiable fire. They are in serious danger of being booted from the S&P 500 due to severe under performance.

I look forward to this going forward (win or lose) if it has merit, but you're banking on the collective intelligence of Elon Musk and Gina Carano here. In all likelihood, Elon's posturing and/or being stupid again, and Gina's scratching for any bit of fame she could get now. If Disney has any solid proof they asked her to stop tweeting conspiracy shit and she wouldn't, then that's it. I can't imagine proof of justification in the firing of Carano will unearth secrets Disney just doesn't want to come out.

She comes from casino money. Why even do this? Is the reality that she got fired to get internet pats on the back from the likes of Ben Shapiro finally sinking in? I mean, if anything I've heard around the time of her firing is true, she was given several opportunities to shut up peddling the conspiracy stuff she was peddling. James Gunn, when he got fired, got given way less chances.

I don't even know if I'd lay the blame singularly at his feet but unfortunately his face is attached to that day.  There were probably several other execs and people who were either behind or ok with the choice to try to go that way that we probably won't fully know about until something like a What Happen? episode within the next decade or so.  I'm just curious about how the industry will move forward without a competitor checking Sony on their own level.

He didn't help things much, pissing on people who like it with that "just play the 360 if you can't get online" (I'm paraphrasing) statement.

I don't think we'll ever get a behind-the-scenes story on what made them try that shit, but this is pretty good chronicling it:

  11. Hmm. I might finally fuck with Microsoft's game offerings if they put more and more stuff out multi-console. I know it's petty, but I'm still holding that always-on nonsense around E3 2013 against them. I could EASILY buy an xbox and play those games alongside my PS4/5 games, but they missed that boat and now I don't see anything over there worth playing. Exclusives are dry all around now, but it's almost like XBox has none.

  12. Yeah, I know about him hitting Atlanta. But the thing is, the real milk and honey are still still around and didn't get reviewed favorably in the first place. But since they're established and it's Atlanta (apparently the whole food scene is kinda trash), they survive.

This woman might literally go out of business after winning the game. Like, there was nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the uptick in business. She threw it away for 2K.

  13. So, there's this ex-MMA food blogger named Keith Lee who's blown up over the past year. He goes to unknown places recommended by fans that aren't doing well and rates the food. If he says the food is good, the places blow up and have lines around the block. Aside from just rating, he'll sometimes tip the staff a crazy amount. Well after reviewing Sweetly Seasoned, he gave 4K to the staff as well, to be split. 2K to the owner and the rest split up I don't know how off the top. The owner took it all for herself though, and got found out. As a result, there's no pickup in business like there would be if Keith Lee gave you a good review. In fact, things are going the other way. The above is the owner trying to save face.

I came across this whole drama and, just...

She might have tanked her business over 2,000 funky ass dollars when she could have been making that shit daily with the increased business. She might literally be the first person to fumble the "Keith Lee effect". How stupid people can be still surprises me to this day.

  14. I am wondering just how in the hell we deal with microtransactions in general. Even the non-lootbox ones pollute any game they're in, because the devs have to make the game more grindy to put more space between you and what you want (unless you pay). With MK, you used to have a clear path to things you want, but now most things are randomized.

As much as I'm liking MK1's core gameplay, it's like either micros or laziness have sucked everything out of it outside that. I can't stand that awful Invasions mode, and the online is barebones.
