Chun-Li Arcade Story Mode: Prologue, Fight Your Rival, and Ending
SpoilerPrologue: Intro to Chun-Li. She, with the help of her WW comrades, have defeated M. Bison and the criminal syndicate, Shadaloo. Now, Chun-Li is taking a sabbatical to teach kung fu.
SpoilerFight Your Rival - Juri Han: Chun-Li encounters Juri Han who warns her of a potential upcoming dangerous threat, but if Chun-Li wants that info, she's gonna have to fight Juri to get it.
SpoilerEpilogue: Juri Han escapes, but in case another evil does arise, Chun-Li will be ready.
Thoughts:
SpoilerI captured what I could, but it was such a low quality stream. Artwork on Chun looks a little off, especially her face in the first fight-your-rival scene, and her face in the ending.
Overall, I thought it was kind of a meh story. Unfortunately, the prologue mainly serves as a recap of SFV's story (and a little bit into 3). Chun-Li taking a sabbatical does tie into her SF6 comic prologue where she still works for interpol as a director of sorts. Personally, I wish she stayed retired and just transitioned into being a King Fu teacher. With her Shadaloo chapter closed yet, I thought being a teacher would be an excellent way to continue to honor her father by passing down his teachings to promising students. But I guess with Capcom, having her semi-retired allows her to go back to being a globe-trotting crime fighter if another big evil shows up to where she has to close up her school.
One other thing I found lacking was no mentioning of Li-Fen. Li-Fen is a very important character in Chun's life, and Chun doesn't mention her at all or the impact she's had on her life since taking her in.
For the fight-your-rival scene, Juri as the rival is the obvious but easy choice.
I wish Chun-Li had a reason to go seeking out Juri, like maybe Li-Fen went out on her own and hasn't come back. Chun finds Juri, and Juri says she just wants to watch Li-Fen. (She does have a spider motif btw). Chun-Li fights her off, and Juri leaves, giving Chun a warning that there will be a bigger threat that will put her loved ones in Danger.
That's what I would've liked, but I just felt like this Fight your RIval scene lacked any kind of rationale. Just an excuse for Chun looking for a fight, and for Juri to tease her favorite punching bag, and for her to get her word of caution out to her.
Interestingly, Juri doen'st say if she's talking about the rise of JP and his devious workings, or the possible return of Shadaloo (as referenced in the SF6 prequel comic).
As for ending, it's just bland. Juri escapes, no payoff, Chun-Li still determined to see through to the truth.
Really wished Chun-Li had something worth fighting for in this one. Having Li-Fen would've added some stakes, and possibly a little teenage drama humor. It just feels like a rehash of everything that we knew of Chun-Li, without adding any substance to it.
Lastly, I got two more Chun-Li quotes
Chun-Li to Cammy: "Bison's gone, yet your mission continues. That dedication comes through in the way you fight."
Thoughts: After the fall of M. Bison, Chun-Li takes a break from work to teach kung fu, while Cammy continues to hunt down the revenants of Shadaloo, and anything that might be connected. Both take different paths, and there is always an underlying friendship, acknowledgement of strength, and respect between the two.
Chun-Li to Lily: "You remind me of a warrior I once knew. Perhaps you're related?"
Thoughts: Chun most likely notices how Lily's style and connection to the spirits is almost identical to T. Hawk. I do know Chun and T. Hawk have encountered each other in the Udon comics, but I can't really say with certainly if they had any canonical meetings. Wouldn't be surprised if they did, since Juli was a Shadaloo doll. Interestingly, unlike some of the other young guns of the cast (Luke, Jamie), Chun-Li doesn't scold or criticize the young Thunderfoot warrior about respect or fighting. She probably already has a good head on her shoulders already.

I don't know, specially after SFV i've this feel SF2 good guys are all old friends and have developed enough friendship and confidence to help each other, have each other back, have fun etc
Wich give me the perspective when these chars fight, unless story say otherwise, they're actually just doing a friendly sparring
Blanka is a funny guy who does funny things, get threated as the funny friend... it's not even only fighting style itself is his whole aura/demeanor
If anything seems simply the fun Chun had during the sparring make her break her usual manners, she even try to fix it but she could not (as at the end of the line she's still smiling)
Totally benevolent stuff 😄
That, I can believe. I've always beleived that since the SF2 characters have been together and fighting against (and sometimes alongside) each other, I'd thought that there would be some level of friendship between al the WWs. But now I'm much more open for her win quote being more teasy than disrespectful.

Blanka is not the protector of his momma, in SF6 took a bit the role of protector of nature/jungle according to his bio, while doing tours with tourists as adventure guide
Chun may smile at new goofy moves Blanka have now, like throw at enemy blankachan puppets... she even try to apologize as of course did'nt wanted to be rude to him, but for some things Blanka has been designed to be more goofy than ever (while for some other things he still feral af)
Does'nt seem malicious/mean kind of laugh
Protector of the wild, huh? That makes much more sense, and that went over my head.
Even if it doesn't seem like a malicious laugh, I'd always thought Chun would've been a person that respected all styles of combat, no matter how unorthodox they are.
-
Chun-Li to Blanka: "Sorry for laughing. I know you take your duties as a protector very seriously... Heh heh.
Thoughts: I don't know how i'm supposed to feel about this. It just sounds uncharacteristically disrespectful to Blanka. It doesn't sounds like Chun's endearing "Yatta" kind of laugh. But more like straight up disrespectful. Unless I'm missing some subtext. Both Chun and Blanka have something to protect: Chun-Li with Li-Fen and her students, Blanka with his mama. So why is she making light of this?
Marisa to Chun-Li: Your Chinese Martial Arts are incredible! Thing is, I've got history backing me up too!"
Thoughts: I can tell that Marisa respects Chun-Li as a fighter too. I'm looking forward to learning Marisa's backstory, and the history of her martial arts. I know Marisa's Pankration it's as historic as the original Greek Olympics. But I'm curious if Marisa had a strong and passsionate teacher just like Chun-Li had her father and Gen.
Chun-Li to Marisa: "China's martial arts are every bit as ancient as yours, I'll have you know."
Thoughts: Pretty much the same feelings as Marisa's to Chun. Both acknowledge their fighting and the history of their styles. Though, the later part of her quote can be interpreted as a friendly reminder or a stern warning to respect her, probably depending on her mood.
-
Dhalsim to Chun-Li: "Feel the movement of your physical form. That is where meditation begins."
Thoughts: Nothing really too much to look into with this one. Dhalsim's last quote to Chun-Li in SFV was about her struggling to release the shackles of her past. Now in SF6, it looks like she's done just that. But I honestly can't find anything deep with this one. There is much focus in Chun's movments in her teachings. Maybe that's the lesson Dhalsim passed to her in this age.

Li-Fen was not 3 or 4 during SF3. This guy has no idea what he's talking about.
Maybe he was referring to Mel who was 3-4 in SF3 and got them mixed up.I agree with this. Li-Fen may be small, but she at least seems to have developed some form of speech and logic that would suggest child genius but above the physiology of a toddler (like Mel).
8-9 years old sounds feasable, though I wouldn't throw out the possibility of her being maybe a year or two younger (6-7). She is a genius and a prodigy hacker at a young age.

I'm sure there will be no shortage of sweets to purchase around Metro City and Nayshall. But only the most authentic crepes from France is what our beloved deserves, nothing but the best from the best for our Queen Waifu.

(Lol, and the Li-Fen walks in and makes it a typical romcom anime scene XD)
