You know it's bad when you have to keep a spreadsheet for the backlog of movies, games, and shows you've amassed over the years. I still have a copy of Final Fantasy X-X2 remastered I've never touched and it's been almost 10 years lol

I relate far too much to this than I care to admit.

I've been working on Sonic Mania for a month now, because I just never play it.

so i just watched the game of thrones tv show. 1st time. binge watched it for 2 weeks.

    my thoughts.

i had no problem with last season.

but seeing reviews for each season. everyone shits on final season. after seeing final season. i had no problem with the final season. so i dont get the hate for the final season.

    um.

i think theres 2 big reason for the hate of the final season.

    1) two of the final season eps had almost no dialogue. but were dedicated to war depictions.

the show's strength, imo, is the backstabbing, political intrigue, and behind closed doors dealings, that gives everyone a hard on. and having 2 episodes not having any of that, but having just war on display. i think alotta peeps found that boring. which i get.

      Reveal hidden contents

    2) the dragon queen not ending up ever sitting on the iron throne. made alotta folks expecting to see it, lose their mind. couple that with the fact that this is the 21st "woke" century. and alotta of the woke mob having major issues with a show that had strong female characters in it, having said show reveal that number 1 "strong independent of needing a man" female, get jobbed by a strong male character. made the woke mob go bonkers.

1st off, we all were cheering for dragon queen to reach the iron throne, but lets be honest, that bitch constantly insisting she should rule the world cuz she was entitled to cuz birthright, was getting tired real quick. by the end it sounded obnoxious as queen cunt of the lanesters family. couple that with the fact you could see the absolute power corrupting her absolutely slowly but surely. i wasnt surprised. lastly, i think her burning the city down with her dragon wasnt so much cuz she was mad the lanester cunt killed her friend, but more cuz..someone actually said no to her. and like all the power mad lords of the show, the dragon queen most def did not like anyone disobeying her. her losing her mind seemed more of reference to her dad, the mad king, that let the power also go to his head. i think thats the point of her dragon destroying the iron throne. so the cycle ends of every asshole trying to get in that chair that symbolizes power.

  3. I've been playing the classic RTS game "Battle Realms" and holy shit this game's single player is one of the most bullshit campaigns ever.

The mission I'm on (the second to last), the enemy (the Lotus clan) starts with 3 complete bases, while you start with no base, 2 hero units, 2 archers, and a few peasants.

The only thing saving you in this level is that the AI doesn't rebuild their base once destroyed- the AI only spends money on units.

I'm bad at RTS but damn this stuff is ridiculous. I forgot how hard old games were sometimes.

ha, funny thing--- I thought they had phased those out...but I actually found a 2-dollar bill on the ground next to an ATM machine some months ago.  It was surprising... I haven't seen a 2-dollar bill since I was a little kid.

When I worked at a concession stand as a teenager (this was in 2008, I think), I had a fat kid buy two candy bars with 2 dollar bill.

I think they are phasing them out. Obviously due to inflation the difference between 1 and 2 dollars is a joke.

I'm guessing they'll be worth far more than the notional value in the future, just not sure how far into the future haha.

  5. My old coworker died yesterday. She was my semi-boss (she was the payroll manager in HR, I was the accountant responsible for recording payroll).

She was in her late 60's so it wasn't exactly unforeseen. I have no idea the cause, it could be any chronic illness or temporary sickness.

I haven't spoken to her in probably 3 years, so no condolences necessary. It was sad though.

Life comes at you fast 😕

I understand your concerns and I even think they are valid, but I don't think they are a good reason to continue mutilating a baby boys penis. It's fucked up. We should do a better job educating during sex ed and part of that would have to be educating girls about dick hoods. It's supposed to be there.

Circumcised dicks are the weird dicks, not the ones left alone and look like they are supposed to. *Has a hoodieless penis*

As a recent father, I think it's very strange that people would look at a beautiful baby boy and say, "You know what would make this better? If we started cutting bits of his penis off."

You're (people are) solving almost nothing by circumcising. Meanwhile you're potentially causing a littany of other problems, including ED. I listened to a video of circumcision happening and it made my skin crawl.

I imagine my parents wouldn't have had me circumcized (without my consent, btw) if they weren't Christian. That's a big thing- you're mutilating a person who can't defend themselves.

Not digging at religious people, but circumcision is a barbaric practice that we almost certainly wouldn't do -without- religion. Just leave that shit in the bronze age.

  7. I know there's really no point, but I got into an argument (or a debate) against my Chinese student last night.

    Her:

"There is a double standard that the West applies to China with regard to human rights (double standard not stated), they focus on political and religious rights and ignore financial rights when discussing human rights. They have no idea how much better life is for the average person in China."

    Me:

"Yeah, but compared to what? The reason Chinese people were so poor in the first place was because the government spent 30 years following Mao Zedong's economic lunacy; sending farmers to make steel in backyard furnaces (while starving 30 million people to death) during the "Great Leap Forward" and sending college students  to farm in the countryside during the "Cultural Revolution". The fact that their lives are improving now (mostly due to innovations/foreign direct investment from the West) is not a selling point of your terrible government. Even with their own measures of poverty alleviation, they simply changed the poverty line to ~$450 per YEAR, which is a joke of a poverty line."

(note: I am aware that for the vast majority of Chinese history peasants were quite poor and had no rights, but this is true of the entire rest of the world as well, and the Communist programs made things demonstrably worse)

    Her:

"You cannot talk about the past when discussing the financial situation today!"

    -----------------

    later

    Her:

"Of course, comparing China to the US, the US is more wealthy. But compared to another developing country like India, China is doing quite well."

    Me:
"Then don't compare it to the US. Compare it to Taiwan, which was also poor as dirt after WWII, is also Chinese people, and is now much wealthier and more developed than the mainland, has an excellent human rights record, is a democracy etc. They developed first because they didn't go through the "Great Leap Forward" and the "Cultural Revolution."

(note 2: I am aware that for about 30 years Taiwan was a pretty terrible dictatorship under the Chiang family. They still developed much faster.)

    Her:

"You cannot compare a tiny country of 20 million to a giant country of 1.4 billion!"

    -----------

It's a wonder if I don't lose this student. I was sick and in no mood for her apologist propoganda.

  8. I watched Mission Impossible 3 last night. It was surprisingly good compared to Mission Impossible 2, despite the obvious Chinese pandering.

The franchise did a F&F (before Fast and Furious did) and fell off hard after the first one, having a slight resurgence with the 4th-ish one, and then falling right back off again.

Original Mission Impossible will always be the greatest for me.

With Ono gone now, who knows what will happen with the fgs of capcom, the only silver lining is that now they are being shepherd by the Monster Hunter guy, who is the son of the ceo of capcom.

And seeing the commitment they had with the esports scene, perhaps they will be willing to make sf6 a better product than what sfv was at launch.

What really needed to happen is some benevolent billionaire/company buying SF/other fighting franchises away from Capcom in 2003, because Capcom and most Japanese corporations are goddamn terrible and slow to adapt. It took them 15+ years to figure what rollback even -was-, let alone all the other problems they have.

with Ono gone. i have high hopes for SF6.

Really? I don't think he had much influence on 5 anyway. They'll probably still do their multiple installment, shitty netcode, dress up simulator with a fg thrown in on the side tactics.

I'm a lot more hopeful for Project L, whatever it eventually is/whenever it's eventually released.

Scarily accurate. I hope they tone down some of the excessive goofiness in SF6 and go for a more mature vibe. Not talking MK or anything on that level, just a bit more grit.

I hope they do the opposite, and go back to something that looks  2D, similar to GG XRD.... Obviously it's not truly 2D and it's a visual trick, but still.

Really dislike how SF4, SFxT, and SF5 looked. Really fugly for my eyes.

TvC and MvC3 looked good though. Might just be subjective bias.

We dont know yet if Angel wouldnt be on the game, not to mention Luong and Silvie and Zarina

Common. SNK, i need my mains, i would kill for Momoko, but i think snk forgot she exists 😑

I think you're pretty much the only person who wants Momoko back lol.

I'm pretty happy with a team of Mai, Chizuru, and Luong  (or Geese, if he's around), so XV is looking great to me!

I still feel the best sports game ever is Super Dodge Ball for the NES.

Yes it's jank, didn't have official sponsors or licensing, and the rules didn't reflect real world play, and there power moves. But its pure game play fun. You even play a evil Duplicate version of your team before playing the USSR team (or was it the other way around).

Also there no micro transactions, no forced updates and no validation servers.

NBA Jam or Tecmo NBA Basketball.

    NFL Blitz.

    Or even Tecmo Football.
